  1. Dude - ask for a Media Guide for Christmas. Page 324. Till then: Richard F. (Dick) Gallagher 1960-66 Robert T. (Bob) Lustig 1967-78 Stewart C. (Stew) Barber 1979-82 Patrick J. 2. Wasn't sure whether I was going to make it to this one or not. (Not a good week. Sorry to those of you who have been trying to PM me... been offline since Tuesday, keeping the phone free for the bad news I got about an hour ago.) But as of right now, I'm planning on making the trip. theesir, if you read this, you've got a ticket.
  3. Think that's why they started handing off instead? Methinks Holmgren = toast.
  4. Interceptaverde still has a chance to live up to his nickname...
  5. Try looking in Lot 1 at a home game.... if you ever make it to another home game, ya bastage. I'll even buy your beer. Seriously, though - first thing I do after I park the car and drag the cooler out of the trunk, is head over and hit up BADOL with the questions I've been saving since the last time I saw him...
  6. I'd agree with Indy, unless the Colts are locked into their playoff seed and resting starters at that point. The Chiefs aren't as dominant at home as they used to be, though.
  7. Same question was asked this afternoon on ESPNEWS - Ditka had Denver as his #6 seed, but Eric Allen actually picked Buffalo to make it. Unfortunately, Ditka has a better chance of being right. (Just look at Denver's sked the rest of the way.) But hey, you never know.....
  8. ...and I hate when posters decide it's OK to make personal attacks on Bills players and coaches, especially considering how many of those players' friends/families read this board. Something to keep in mind.
  9. K, I'm rational enough to realize the playoffs are still a longshot.... but hey, isn't it fun talking about the possibilities? And even the hint of having something to play for besides draft position sure makes the drive north easier next Sunday morning...
  10. Ask and ye shall receive. Check my post earlier in this thread; I just added them. For future reference: take the yardage and divide by the number of catches. That way, *I* won't have to.
  11. Hey, it beats the livin' crap out of sitting around crying about how high the #1 pick we're sending to Dallas will be. That wasn't that long ago......
  12. I'm going to bump this up, because I'm too lazy to re-copy the pertinent links.....
  13. yup. We're not in the same division as Denver, so division records don't count.
  14. I agree. I really, really like Evans... but get back to me when he breaks the team single-game receiving records Butler set against the Jets during his rookie season. (10 catches-255 yards-4 TDs, two over 70 yards.) And Butler was hurt for part of that season. 'Dre was no slouch, either - Greg Bell led the team in catches in Reed's rookie year, but Reed was the top WR.... For the record: Lee Evans, 2004 (12 games): 29 catches - 554 yds, 19.1 ypc, 5 TD, 1 100-yard game Josh Reed, 2002: 37 catches - 509 yds, 13.8 ypc, 2 TD, 1 100-yard game Peerless Price, 1999: 31 catches - 393 yds, 12.7 ypc, 3 TD, 1 100-yd game Eric Moulds, 1996: 20 catches - 279 yds, 14.0 ypc, 2 TD Andre Reed, 1985: 48 catches - 637 yds, 13.3 ypc, 4 TD, 1 100-yd game Jerry Butler, 1979 (13 games): 48 catches - 834 yds, 17.4 ypc, 4 TD, 2 100-yd games Of course, Evans still has four games left this season. It wouldn't break my heart to see him make a move on Butler's numbers......
  15. Hey, New England. Beat up on the 'Gals a little, OK? Thanks.
  16. It actually wouldn't be the first time that's happened, although there were extenuating circumstances involved - the 4-5 Browns and Lions snuck into the strike-year "tournament" back in 1982. The 1991 Jets, 1990 Saints, and 1985 Browns (Central Division champs) were close - all made it in at 8-8. As mentioned elsewhere, the problem lies in the eight-division setup and concurrent loss of a wild-card slot. If there were still only three divisions in each conference, the 9-3 Falcons would be leading the NFC West. And if the current setup had been in place back in 1989, an 8-8 Colts team would have won the AFC South, while a 10-6 Washington team would still have been left out....
  17. The list of 10-6 teams that didn't make the playoffs, since the league went to 6 playoff teams per conference: Miami, 2003 San Fran, 1991 From 1978-1989, there were only 5 playoff teams in each conference: Green Bay and Washington, 1989 NY Giants and New Orleans, 1988 Seattle and Cincinnati, 1986 Washington, 1985 Denver, 1981 New England, 1980 Washington, 1979 That takes us back to the beginning of the 16-game season in 1978. Something not pointed out yet: all the teams listed (with the exception of Miami 2003) played in a 28-team league. Four more teams = more games played leaguewide, fewer common opponents, and a better chance for more teams to have good records.
  18. 6pm news didn't have much, other than Campbell was on crutches in the locker room. Ed Kilgore said BigMike didn't have any kind of bracing/wrap on his knee, but he was moving with some difficulty. I'll check back after the 11:30 wrapups, but I doubt there will be any substantial info released before they get back to Buffalo.
  19. Yeah, it's still a longshot, but remember this - if more than two teams end up tied for that last wildcard, and we didn't get swept by the teams we're tied with, then the head-to-head goes out the window and we go to the conference records. (Trouble is, we're not in great shape there either. If we win out, our conference record would be 6-6.) Other overall/AFC records: BAL 7-5, 5-4 (Giants, at Indy, at Pitt, Miami) CIN 6-6, 4-6 (at NE, Buffalo, Giants, at Philly) DEN 7-5, 4-4 (Miami, at KC, at Tennessee, Indy) JAX 6-6, 5-5 (Chicago, Green Bay, Houston, at Oakland) NYJ 9-3, 7-3 (at Pitt, Seattle, NE, at St. Louis) http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakers (For those of you who asked about Denver - if they go 10-6, then their AFC record would be 7-5. If that happens, we lose. Cheer against every team on the above list every week, just to be safe. Yes, I realize a couple of them play Miami. We're that desperate.)
  20. NFL Standings Pats, Colts, Stillers, Chargers are sitting pretty - all four have at least a two-game lead in their divisions. Jets are 9-3, in good position to sew up a wildcard. That leaves one open spot. At 6-6, we're tied with Cincy and a game back of Baltimore (plus the head-to-head tiebreaker) and Denver. Pitt can help us out by beating Jax tonight, which would put them at 6-6 (but also with the tiebreaker on us.) KH has kindly already done the math: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=11234
