  1. Nah, my bad. Should've refreshed the TBD homepage when I backclicked to it. As always, the BillsBeat crew are a step ahead of me....
  2. arrrghh.... linkage? bb.com - Gandy In Line For Left Tackle Opening
  3. Gotta call you on this one, Darin - Vinky's first season was the 3-13 disaster in 2001. (He got a free pass for that one, because everybody blamed Rob for all the sacks.) To TD's/GW's credit, they did dump Vinklarek after the 2002 season, even with all the mad stats you referenced.... Your other points are dead on.
  4. Considering that Donahoe was working for ESPN during the 2000 draft, exactly who would he have drafted Brady FOR? Sportscenter? To a previous post: if the word out of OneBillsDrive can be trusted, the coaches were the ones who nixed the Henry-for-Shelton deal. Further... if TD truly did have total control over player arrivals/departures, Bobby Shaw would still be here. Nothing will ever convince me that MM didn't push Shaw out the door, just like he did in Pittsburgh. (And although a few here whined about it at the time, freeing up more playing time for Lee Evans looks like a really good decision now, doesn't it?)
  5. They've already started on the tunnel endzone - that's where Jim Ritcher's name/number went up last season. To your original point, Jay - what, and miss the chance to sell tickets for three different games? This IS our Bills we're talking about here... or did I miss the memo where Jimbo decided he really, really wanted to be honored at the game against Seattle?
  6. bwahahahahaaaa.... some of us got it, anyhoo..... (Not quite sure why hookedonphonics didn't include the aforementioned Warfield, since he was the only first-ballot inductee of the three.....)
  7. Correct you are. Both Berry (HOF '73) and Moore (HOF '75) retired after the 1967 season, so neither ever played in a Super Bowl. Sportscenter followed up with a Top 10 including baseball/hoops/hockey trios. (Gretz/Messier/Fuhr, Glavine/Maddux/Smoltz, Magic/Kareem/Worthy, etc.) Kelly/TT/Reed ranked #10 on their list; Bradshaw/Harris/Swann #1.
  8. Quite frankly? Just when I thought ESPN couldn't get any worse....
  9. Gavin, I agree with your central point - the Irish Catholics have suffered through centuries of often brutal British occupation, and they have the same right to fight the RA for their independence as my Continental ancestors did a couple of hundred years back. But in my book, deliberately targeting civilians = terrorism. And by that standard, I consider both the Provos and their 'Orange' foes terrorists - which makes Gerry Adams and his ilk no different than the radical Muslim clerics we're seeing on TV today. Back to the letter JSP quoted. Unfortunately for the author and the comrade he lost in action against the IRA, the British Army - serving as an army of occupation - were legitimate military targets. I have to say, though, the gloating letters from the schoolchildren are a particularly nasty touch... My opinions, such as they are. Feel free to disagree.
  10. That sounds like the HyperBills one Bob mentioned. If it is, that's before my time - I think the TBD website existed then, but not the Wall. I believe Joe's talking about the '99 Miami game, over in Lot 2 at the Senator's Xterra. And I think he leaves me out on purpose, because I was wearing a Flutie jersey at that game.... (oh, the shame, the shame!)
  11. Yeah, no kidding. No damn wonder the poilus started to mutiny - if I were in their (rotting from trenchwater and God know what else) boots, I probably would've said the French equivalent of "F#^! this !!", too. Funny thing is, though - after he spent fifteen months 'over there', my grandfather came home respecting the German people but hating the arrogant French... and the Germans were the ones shooting at him.....
  12. oooh... a Habs fan. I knew I liked the kid... Of course, I'm hoping he ends up in bleu/blanc/rouge - but it wouldn't exactly disappoint me to see him land in Buffalo, either. (As long as they ditch the goathead for the blue/gold, that is...)
  13. BuffNews story on Sartori this morning How cool is that?
  14. Yeah, what he said. Simon led off the 8:00 hour with a compilation of Jeanneret clips - "lalalalaLaFontaine", "MAYDAY!!", etc. (Heck, I'm not even a Sabres fan, and it got ME fired up.) Still can't get this silly grin off my face......
  15. After watching the Wyche special, the only thing I could think was "Damn, I'm glad Mularkey made that phone call." At the hotel in Cincy last year, as we passed each other in the lobby (he was coming back from dinner, we were on our way out), Coach Wyche saw our Bills gear and thanked us for making the trip down for the game. We then thanked him for coming to Buffalo... Jeff, the 'you don't live in Cleveland' soundbite IS in there. Can't remember where it fell in the show, but it's definitely there - still cracks me up every time I hear it, too.
  16. Thought that might have been you. And, of course, you're dead right about the streaming - although I realize it's hard to sell that to the "suits" when you and I aren't buying cars or satellite dishes from Buffalo-area advertisers. But now that WEEI is doing it again, maybe there's a glimmer of hope - at least the "corporate decision" excuse won't fly any more. The way I see it, one of WNSA's main selling points was the diehard fans calling in from across the country.... just like the Wall, it's great to have more viewpoints than just the ones in Channel 2/4/7 territory. loadofmularkey, that's not quite accurate - I'm reasonably sure GR had a couple of 4.0 books way back when (pre-WNSA). Spring book (April-June) comes out in a couple of weeks. Seems like most of the "non-sportsradio" complaints have surfaced since the end of college hoops season; we'll see if they managed to hold onto that 3 share from Winter. (Considering that they only managed a 1.8 last spring even with WNSA going off the air at the end of April, they'll probably be happy with anything in the area of 2.5 or better... but hey, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.....)
  17. The 'Celebration' tix were barcoded/scanned. See, even Ticketb*stard has its good points.... somehow I doubt the Bills would have switched to the scanners otherwise.
  18. Johnny Mac is the tennis guy. As for Carlson, Scarborough, etc. - perhaps nobody ever watched MSNBC to begin with, so nobody knows they're there? Just a thought....
  19. Interesting, indeed. But typical.
  20. Absolutely correct; if anything, it's even fewer than 20. In fact, I just cut checks to the local Cub pack, Scout troop, and BSA Council serving our area. While our local United Fund is an affiliate of the state-level UW, financial decisions are made solely by our Board of Directors, all of whom must reside in our service area. Here's what the national United Way has to say about the Scouting issue: Wacka, my sympathies to you for residing in the People's Republic of California.....
  21. I can see it now - Rich doing his best Bruce Bixby impression... "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."
  22. They're basing the draft order on Dan Pompei's predictions. That was their first mistake.....
