  1. Yup - as TKO was finishing off Manning on 3rd-and-long, you could just read Dungy's mind: "Well now, that'll be enough of THAT. Sorgi, you're in...."
  2. No. In fact, the Bills are 1-6 all-time at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Their only win was in 1966 - the year the place opened. (Before then, the Raiders played their home games vs. the Bills at Kezar Stadium, then Candlestick, then Frank Youell Field.)
  3. Does the preseason count for this stat? i.e., Garcia's leg, and knocking Chad Hutchinson right off Chicago's roster (and apparently out of the entire NFL)?
  4. Nothing that would land him in jail - just "high-maintenance" stuff like blowing off off-season workouts and showing up late for meetings. Apparently, between his injury and his contract ending after this season, Marty just decided to cut bait. That's just coming from some average Chargers fans, though, not any major "inside sources" - so make of it what you will...
  5. Since it's you asking... #53: Dennis Remmert, Walt Cudzik, Wayne Frazier, Dave Ogas, Wayne Fowler, John Matlock, Mike Montler, Connie Zelencik, Will Grant, Tony Furjanic, Scott Walters, Tom Erlandson, Marvcus Patton, Keith Newman, Mario Haggan. Wow - even I don't recognize a few of those names. Now you've got me thinking - going with year of birth would give me DeLamielleure's number. While I like JoeD, I almost think I'd sooner have #58 (which would cover both Stratton and Conlan)....
  6. Fair enough. And the fact that I had to reach all the way back to Deion means you're probably right... As for McGee's KR average: 26.3 in 2004, 34.6 this year. That number is stunning, considering he hasn't actually taken one all the way yet (although the one in San Antonio was agonizingly close). Going to check on something... As of this week, McGee has 75 returns, which qualifies him for the all-time records in the category. NFL career record for qualifiers is 30.56, held by a pretty good RB named Gale Sayers. McGee's career average is 27.32. His season average is also darn close to the top 3 - Travis Williams (Green Bay, 1967) holds the record with 41.06; Sayers averaged 37.69, also in 1967; Ollie Matson (1958 Bears) is #3 with 35.50.
  7. You recall correctly. On 3rd-and-27, no less. Aaarghhhh...
  8. Fonoti? Currently a 'svelte' 398lbs., according to Adam Schefter. According to some Bolt fans I know, there were other off-the-field issues as well...
  9. Most 1-4 teams don't have Sapp and Mt. Washington clogging up the middle; that might have something to do with it. Plus, I know SD jumped on 'em last week, but I think they've been competitive in most of their games this season - that would cut down on clock-burning time...
  10. I think Deion may have done both, in his prime. ..checking... Yup, he did with the Falcons; not too many kickoffs after that, though. Then again, he didn't exactly exert himself in run support, either - so you might debate the "full time DB"....
  11. Welcome aboard, Steve, and thanks for the different perspective. I'm hoping it never gets like that over here, but considering the amount of advertising $$$ beer/liquor companies pour into the NFL's coffers, I can't see an alcohol ban until something really bad happens. Personally? You couldn't pay me to sit in the 100-level scoreboard endzone at the Ralph. I've had seats in 108/109 for six years now, and while there are a few 'colorful metaphors' hurled about from time to time, the only time I've ever seen anything close to fisticuffs break out in our section was during Bledsoe Bowl I. Way too many Pats fans in our house (fresh off their first SB win and not shy about letting us know it), plus watching the Bills get blown off the field, made for a bad mix that day... The end zone? Different story, between the visiting fans and the bus trips. "Fight Club" every Sunday. I think that's part of the reason they turned the 200-level sections into the "Rockpile" - hoping more season-ticket holders equals fewer problems.
  12. As previously noted, Pete - "Cookie is a loon."
  13. Reading about him would necessitate the Bills giving out some (any?) info on his progress. That hasn't happened yet. My personal, fact-free opinion? Everett doesn't see the field this season...
  14. Although he didn't play on the AFL Championship teams, the jerseys stayed the same until '75, so a James throwback wouldn't be entirely anachronistic. (In fact, I'm thinking about ordering a Bobby Chandler shirt...) Of Tony's two choices, I'd probably go with Sestak myself. I like what Nick Bakay did, though - the throwback he wore on the NFL Network has his own name on the back, but he got #34 to pay tribute to Cookie, Jim Braxton, and Thurman. Very cool.
  15. Raiders have started Barry Sims - Langston Walker - Jake Grove - Ron Stone - Robert Gallery in all five games this season; Walker is the only change from last year's line, which had Frank ($&*!ing) Middleton at LG. Grove is injured, but his backup at C, Adam Treu, was last year's starting C. I'm not expecting much of a dropoff. P.S. - Good read, LABillz.
  16. What he said. Except that I still hate Miami more...
  17. Anyone else, I'd probably agree with you. Not Bruschi - I truly believe the man just loves the game that much. From his press conference:
  18. Next question: who else does SF have to back up Alex Smith? With Rattay gone, the depth chart lists Ken Dorsey and Cody Pickett. Their NFL stats: Dorsey 123-226, 1232 yards, 6 TD, 9 INT, 62.4 passer rating Pickett 4-10, 55 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT, 18.8 passer rating Smith's numbers: 15-34, 108 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT, 12.5 passer rating "With the first pick of the 2006 draft, the San Francisco 49ers select..."
  19. Close. The official trade: TE Doug Jolley and the Texans' second-round selection in 2005 (#47 - Mike Nugent), the Cardinals' sixth-round selection in 2005 (#182 - Cedric Houston) and the Cowboys' sixth-round selection in 2005 (#185) from Oakland to New York Jets for the Jets' first-round selection in 2005 (#26) and the Vikings' seventh-round selection in 2005 (#230). Raiders flipped #26 and a fourth-round pick for Seattle's #23, then took CB Fabian Washington, and included #230 in a deal with New England. (Pats took QB Matt Cassell.) Jets sent #185 and their own fourth-round pick (#127) to Jacksonville for the Jags' fourth-rounder (#123), which the Jets used to take CB Kerry Rhodes.
  20. Actually, when the head bobbles, it looks just like him...
  21. Think I've got an RJ bobblehead around here somewhere....
  22. Sounded like a great game. (I was at St. Bonaventure last night, watching a fellow TBDer play in the Legends game; I'll watch the tape when I get a chance.) No matter if Meechigan is ranked or not, the Big House hex still continues....
  23. Pack a windshirt, just in case. Seeya up there.
