  1. I counted three tackles and an assist for #54 in the second half, none in the fourth quarter. And all three of those primary stops came at least ten yards past the line of scrimmage. That's not too good, is it?
  2. There's something to be said for that. Dad went to a few Colts-Bills games shortly after he moved out there, but stopped going because he found the gameday atmosphere boring (compared to the Penn State or Rich Stadium games he'd been to...)
  3. Exophthalmos, or Graves' Opthamolopathy. One of the most obvious symptoms of Graves' Disease, also known as autoimmune thyrotoxicosis. Remember the actor Marty Feldman, the guy who played Igor in Young Frankenstein? That's what untreated hyperthyroidism can progress to. Feldman died in his forties of heart disease, also brought on by Graves'. Barbara and George HW Bush were both treated for hyperthyroidism -- that's what caused GHWB's atrial fibrillation, which I think he's still taking meds for -- as was Olympic sprinter Gail Devers. Seahawks WR Bobby Engram just went through a thyroid-related illness and missed a significant part of the season, although I haven't heard exactly which form he has...
  4. Funny you should mention Asia. Since the Pats are playing in China next year (preseason?), look at what you can buy in the Pro Shop now...
  5. Far as I know, Lawton is still on Indy's practice squad... but good luck trying to find that info on the Colts website...
  6. Nope. They did that all by themselves.
  7. No, back then it probably would have been above-ground nuclear testing.
  8. Ouch. That's gotta sting. As for Cam, DCM, ask Big 10/11 watchers what they thought of his work at IU. Yeah, yeah, it was Indiana (we have a football team?) University, but IMO he coached down to the level of his (lack of) talent and badly mis-handled the Randle-El situation in AR-E's senior year...
  9. Think I'd be happy with any of the top 3, but I'm still not convinced Levi Brown will be a top-12 pick when all is said and done. Just my biased opinion. And the sites that have us taking Brian Brohm may want to rethink that selection...
  10. Speaking of Metzelaars, you might catch a glimpse of "Big Red" during the game broadcast tomorrow, since he's an assistant coach with the Colts.
  11. After checking out those links, all I can say is: Wow. Welcome to the 21st Century, Buffalo. (Now, if y'all can just drag more people out of the 19th...)
  12. Great. Just what the board was missing, another Willis thread. Especially one cut-and-pasted from yesterday. Anyone actually have anything NEW to add to this discussion?
  13. What he said. I also concur with the idea of going after a #1 TE ahead of a (potential) #2 WR; too bad the market is so thin after Graham...
  14. That's an... interesting... way of putting it. Rumor had it, he went over a table trying to get at Gilbride...
  15. Ten years ago, two good friends got married the day of the Penn State-Ohio State game. I promised them I'd perform the typical bridesmaid duties up through the bridal-party dance, but after that, I'd be in the hotel bar watching the second half of the game. Remarkably, they forgave me... ...I think...
  16. That the same team that was marketing Bills-Saints tickets to BUFFALO season-ticket-holders in summer 2005? Might still have my order form somewhere. The Gulf South has rallied around the Saints as a metaphor for rebuilding the area, selling out every game for the first time in team history. Good for them. It's a fantastic story. But it has nothing to do with Buffalo.
  17. I dropped some links on Okoye-related reading material in this thread... graduated in 3 1/2 years? Originally pre-med? Co-captain his senior year? I think the 'character' issue wouldn't be a problem with this kid.
  18. Yup, in 1970. Still waiting on this one, though: C'mon, guys...
  19. I don't remember the reason behind picking #31 (although I think it was explained at one time - maybe in one of Sal Maiorana's books?), but I can understand why they didn't want an actual player wearing the number in the logo. Does anyone really consider Preston Ridlehuber -- the original #31 in 1969, and the only one before JDWilliams -- the 'face' of the franchise? Somebody get KRC or Bob Lamb in here. They'll know. Or drop an e-mail to Sal M. ... he's not busy right now, right?
  20. MVR, you were right on Norwood, and SO close on the other one. Hopper, way to finish. Davis, of course, never played a down in either the AFL or NFL before dying of leukemia. Damn shame... Kalsu is incorrect. Still out there. Not as hard as you might think, either...
  21. Wilson was my first guess, too. When KTFABD nixed that one, I had a definite attack of "WTF???" before the "hey, waitaminute..." moment kicked in a few minutes later. That Dog knows some mean tricks. And that means I owe you (and Kelly) a round at our next get-together. From my PM to him last night: "Never in a million years, without the HOF guide sitting right here. Hell, if anyone gets that one, I'll buy 'em anything they want from the bar. And one for you, too.."
