  1. Dealt with some "Bridge Publications" people WRT our SF convention at PSU. All true believers... and weird to the point of creepiness. But I thought he was an expert in psychology? Oh, wait, he thinks he's an expert. That's different. Nevermind...
  2. That was John Wawrow's AP story. He was at the luncheon/press conference/whatever. More Turner stuff from SI, this time from Don Banks:
  3. According to the media guide, there has never been a player named Bannister on the team. You aren't thinking of Justin Bannan, are you?
  4. True, that. I seem to recall that the Sheldon Jackson-to-FB experiment didn't work so well...
  5. Well, there goes the neighborhood...
  6. Thanks for sharing that information.
  7. Not so sure about that. Otherwise, why would KC be so eager to wave goodbye to Green? Just like Culpepper, all those 3,000-yard seasons happened before a major injury... could the next shot to Green's helmet lead to a Steve Young-type career-ending scenario?
  8. When it started, the idea was to get the ketchup on the hamburger without getting any on Kenny... until the "shooters" decided the opposite idea might be more fun. The rest is history...
  9. Davis and Thurman both had the attitude, but neither one went over 210 pounds. By 'power' back, I'm thinking the big bruiser - Bettis, Brandon Jacobs, the guy that's too friggin' big to keep out of the endzone on third-and-goal from the one. I'm not sure we've had one of them since Kinnebrew.
  10. Unlike John Clayton, I really like Dockery. Remember how a majority of the run plays went to the left side after Peters was moved over there? Be prepared for a lot more of that this year. And if DD can manage to play well enough to not end up on the bench -- as happened to our starting LG in each of the last three seasons, or ever since Ruben Brown departed -- JP should finally have some room in the pocket. Walker? IMO, he needs to prove he's worth the beaucoup $$$$ RCWjr. forked over. He has the potential to (literally and figuratively) be a massive upgrade over Pennington at RT... but you know what they say about 'potential'. I learned my lesson with Joe Panos; no more predictions of OL greatness from me... RB? I'm okay with trading a guy who didn't really want to be here... but as I noted before the deal went down, I hope they have a good replacement in mind. I'd like to see a first-day draft pick and at LEAST one veteran FA in here by minicamp.
  11. My man Willis? That may be the funniest thing I've ever read on here: You've noticed that too, eh? That's why I'm watching the battle for #2 RB so closely...and also why I argued against trading Henry during the season last year (before HIS injury made that a moot point). I like Joe Burns, but I have no desire to see him start at RB again. What I think: Willis has proven his toughness by coming back not once, but twice, from ACL injuries. But I get the idea that he'll come off the field for any minor tweak, almost like he needs the docs to reassure him he's OK before he goes back in the game and starts pounding on the defense again. Not when your brand-new coaching staff is trying to install a brand-new offense. For the record, I had the same reaction when Travis skipped one of Mularkey's first minicamps two years ago. As with Henry, I'm not worried about McGahee showing up for training camp out of shape -- that's never been a problem with either player. But I'd rather not see WMcG wait until training camp to start getting some reps in Fairchild's offense, either. JMO.
  12. Umm, you might want to think about including the NFC in those stats. Last time I checked, they were in the NFL too...
  13. When was the last time the Bills actually had a 'power back'? None of the recent FBs qualify. Wouldn't mind having a guy we could trust to be a short-yardage finisher on the roster...
  14. Ripoff of an old Rowan Atkison stand-up routine (he plays the Devil in a velvet smoking jacket), but still funny...
  15. How's that "Travis is a Top Five back" thing working out for you?
  16. Exactly. The Chargers blew chunks when Tomlinson got there in 2001. In 2003, when they staggered to a tie for the worst record in the league, David Boston was the only WR with more than 15 catches and Drew Brees threw more picks than TD passes. So how did LaDainian fare with "no line, QB, receivers"? 1645 yards, averaging 5.3 a carry, 13 TDs... and oh yeah, 100 catches for another 725 yards and four scores. Best back in the league, Willis? You're not even the best #21.
  17. Weinke? WEINKE ?!?!?!? Isn't that the guy with a starting record of something like 2-17? Think I'd rather keep Holcomb.
  18. This looks like the right thread for some Wiki-related news... Wikipedia editor who posed as professor is Ky. dropout
  19. 2004: 220 rushes - 1067 yards, 4.8/carry, 6 TD That's his best year. Career totals: 4 years, 541-2295, 4.2, 11 TDs. Rhodes', in comparison: 550-2274, 4.1, 19 TDs. Define "huge".
  20. Now I know what happens when I merge two empty threads? Long time no see! Hope all is well in the Deanosphere...
  21. Last time I checked, Miami got rid of the two guys who led them in receptions last year (trading Welker and cutting McMichael), let Kevin Carter walk, cut half their offensive linemen off an already-bad unit, and still has Culpepper and Lemon listed as their top two QBs. Can Porter block?
  22. In other news, General Francisco Franco is still dead. Perhaps this thread will provide some insight on Arrington, whose 2005 season ended with a ruptured Achilles tendon after six games... Feb. 12th:Lavar Arrington, Carlos Emmons, Luke Petigout, all released from the giants
