  1. No. And I'm not telling which ones they were, either.
  2. They did. August 8, 1961, against the Ticats. And they got their butts kicked, 38-21.
  3. Dead. To. Me. Wait. At least two of those are true. !@#$.
  4. Lifelong. I live in McKean County, less than two miles from where my ancestors settled this part of the state roughly 150 years ago. And not one of those candidates, Democrat or Republican, has ever set foot in this county, so how the !@#$ do they claim to know what we believe? One of these days, Tom...
  5. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: Dammit, we need that smiley back. Hillary disagrees, of course: http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/451/hil...tyhunterjq3.jpg
  6. Yes, it was. He told him to get his stick down before the ref called a penalty. Brodeur should've poleaxed him.
  7. So gun ownership and church attendance are now equivalent to racism and bigotry? Thanks for sharing that viewpoint, Senator. And GFY.
  8. Gratz, Bill! (Wait -- this doesn't mean she's going to be an Iggles fan, does it?)
  9. Quality work all around... , Cincy!
  10. He has a point, major. I edited the subhed to reflect that, but you're welcome to rephrase it if you wish... your thread, after all. Is it a possibility? Sure, but I don't have any feelings one way or the other. Guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if your hunch pans out. And if it does, can you throw me some Quick-Pick numbers?
  11. Different time, perhaps, but the Hamilton Ticats are 1-0 against the Bills... Buffalo = Toronto? Toronto "doesn't want us," when the popularity of the NFL and CFL is roughly equal in Ontario? Dr. Reginald Bibby is a sociologist at the Unversity of Lethbridge; he's been conducting nationwide surveys on sports popularity (among other topics) every five years since 1975. These statements are from the 2005 survey, published in June 2006: "In Ontario, interest in the two leagues is almost equal – with the levels virtually unchanged since 1990... Age-wise, men under 35 are equally likely to follow the CFL and NFL, while males 35 and over tend to prefer the CFL." http://www.reginaldbibby.com/images/PC2005...FL_JUNE0906.pdf Ti-cats fans certainly don't want the Bills in Ontario, and an NFL team would be a much tougher sell in the western provinces, which hold the strongest allegiance to their three-down game. Toronto? Many in the Centre of the Universe believes it's a major league city -- it is the fifth-largest city on the continent, after all -- and in football, "major league" means the NFL.
  12. Agree with all your points, but I'll add a professional analyst's take on the bolded one. (No, not mine; I'm not nearly that presumptuous. This is clipped from a Q-and-A session with Mark Kelso and Chris Brown. Sorry, no link -- this is from the recap I filed on last November's Booster Club meeting, and that thread is gone unless we can retrieve the data from the crashed hard drive): Looking at my notes, I found two words I left out of the original: pattern recognition. Despite his problem with CBs jumping 'dig' routes -- something Losman still struggles with, as well -- Trent was pretty good at it for a rookie who was getting second- and third-team reps in training camp. I'll be anxious to see how much he improves with a full offseason as the starter.
  13. Ah yes, Michael Silver. Surprisingly (or perhaps not), I don't miss him a bit over at SI.
  14. For someone who neither owns a firearm nor worships any god, I get tired of being told those are the reasons I registered as a Republican. (And no, just because there's an R after my name in the registration book doesn't mean I voted for Bush II, either. It means I like voting in primaries that actually mean something, in a district where Rs outnumber Ds by 45,000 votes.) Bitter? You make the call.
  15. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: The canoes come up the river from the Pony Express outpost in Olean. Besides, we got this here Internet thingy now...
  16. Thanks for slapping me with that broad brush, Senator. You just earned John McCain a $50 donation.
  17. Here's the lead from the press release on their site: I'm still inclined to believe 100,000 tickets, not 100,000 names on the list. If they already have that many potential buyers, they'd be silly to allow up to eight tickets per account, the number they cited in their e-mail...
  18. Mill, I'm on the list, and I plan on being there in December. You're saying you don't believe McCowan, then.
  19. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/foot...l.ap/index.html LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Bryant Gumbel has given up his role as an NFL Network play-by-play announcer after two seasons. The NFL Network said Friday it was looking for a new play-by-play announcer to work with Cris Collinsworth on the network's Thursday and Saturday night games. ...and there was much rejoicing...
  20. That computes. 18,000 requests x 8 (potential) seats per request = 144,000 seats. As dr_buff said, marketing. But how many of the people on the list will actually want all 8 seats?
  21. And the one right underneath it, the one I'm referring to, was posted to buffalobills.com at 12:23 p.m. CP: "over 100,000 fans have registered" BB.com: "the demand by fans for the chance to purchase tickets to the upcoming NFL Bills games in Toronto has now exceeded the 100,000 ticket mark." If they're holding 8 seats per account -- as suggested in the e-mail they sent out -- then one of those stories is wrong, and I'm assuming it's NOT the one coming from the official team website.
  22. The Canadian Post reporter read that wrong, I believe. The original buffalobills.com story mentions 100,000 TICKETS, and the e-mail I received included this: "After April 24, the random drawing will begin, and those chosen will receive a time-sensitive password to purchase up to eight seats per game." 100,000 tickets divided by eight seats per account = significantly fewer than 100,000 fans.
  23. ...which means he wouldn't have heard about it yet if... ... so you'll have to excuse our skepticism for now. By the way... CAPS LOCK? It's one of those message board things; people think you're yelling at them when you type in all caps. Thanks.
