  1. Thought that was Bobby Thomson to win the NL pennant in '51? Maybe Stratton's was the Hit heard 'round the world...
  2. 1. Unitas didn't break his neck and damn near die in the middle of a game. 2. Thanks to the efforts of guys like Joe DeLamielleure to publicize previous shoddy dealings of the disability board, they'll have Congress breathing down their necks if they try something stupid.
  3. Shot heard around the world? I thought that was Mike Stratton on Keith Lincoln.
  4. Knowing Marangi, you probably caught that ball in the stands after an errant pass. I was thinking he got it from the defensive player who picked it off, but I like your version better...
  5. I was hoping you'd show up in this thread...
  6. Three years, according to what Troy Vincent said last September: And since he suffered a permanent disability on the job, he's not only eligible for worker's compensation, he's covered under the NFLPA's benefits package: Now, I suppose the disability board could try to screw Everett over (as they have done to so many former players) by claiming he's not totally disabled... but considering his high profile, they'd be unwise to do so.
  7. They'll release him (or he'll file retirement papers) at some point, but it isn't a big deal right now since they're so far under the cap. He'll be off the roster one way or another when they start training camp -- with 10 draft picks to sign and no NFL Europe exemptions, that 80-player limit will look a little tighter this year.
  8. I don't care one way or the other about Jauron. In fact, if you go back into the archives here, you'll find that I was on the Mike Sherman bandwagon. But you said, "Look it up." So I did. I also talked to Chris Villarrial about Miller and Jauron while he was here. Is that "legit" enough for you? You're welcome.
  9. So now that I've disproven your theory that Jauron "switches" quarterbacks often, we're back to the "he had complete control in Chicago." Sorry, but that one's not true either:
  10. Looking behind the numbers... If anything, he's almost too loyal to the guy who's starting that week. Another coach wouldn't have given either McNown or Stewart half the season, and he apparently thought he owed Losman a chance to retake the job after Edwards' injury. And if Jim Miller had managed to stay healthy, those numbers above -- and the Bears' W-L records for those seasons -- would look a lot different.
  11. Cool stuff, Bob. Ya think Mangini's a little, you know, nervous about having video cameras around?

  13. For the States-bound among us, Esquire's Best Bars in America. Nothing closer to Buffalo than Cleveland and Pittsburgh, though? Hmph. Need to talk to someone about that.
  14. What's the old adage about picking a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel? Never, ever would have guessed.
  15. Rookie Mini-Camp Schedule: Friday, May 2: 10-00 - 11:30 am / 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Saturday, May 3: 10:15 - 11:45 am / 2:15 pm - 3:45 pm Sunday, May 4: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
  16. The Toronto games are not part of the season ticket package.
  17. Doubtful. Whitey, like Brad, was never afraid to post under his own name.
  18. Two on Verizon, $90 because of the Web 2.0 on one line. Think any additional lines are $10/month (plus taxes, of course).
  19. A few thoughts: -Hockey may not be popular nationwide, but it certainly is in Buffalo, even when the Sabres aren't playing. From Alan Pergament's latest column: Sports on the Air: WNY pulls top ratings on Versus -John Murphy is unavailable due to contractual obligations to Citadel. And although Andy has probably already read this thread, why not send him your suggestions? Here's his e-mail address.
  20. Good news. Listening to the McKelvin clip right now, and hoping Ruben will be a frequent guest. Quality stuff, man...
  21. Left tackle? You haven't been listening to Marshall Faulk, have you? Agree with Lynch making too many of his yards on his own last year. Don't get me wrong, the fact that he can do this is a GOOD thing... it would just be nice if he didn't have to.
