  1. During his first three seasons in the league, literally, yes. And then the Bulls hired Phil Jackson and traded for Scottie Pippen.
  2. 'S funny. Before I sent you the link, I actually thought about posting it here -- nothing but the link, in a thread titled "You're all wrong." Just to see what happened.
  3. That in both cases, arguing the absolute statement -- whether in a bar or on a message board -- ignores the wider history. Did Reagan play a leading role in bringing down the Berlin Wall? Of course ... but so did Gorbachev and Walesa (as Jeff noted), and I'd personally add John Paul II to the list.
  4. Let's try that second point again. MacG never claimed Jordan wasn't a "winner," and he never uttered the name of Patrick Ewing. What he did do was point out (without going into exhaustive detail) that without Bird and Magic pulling the league back to respectability -- Lakers-Celtics was the reason CBS moved the NBA playoffs from tape-delay to primetime in 1987, when Jordan led the league in scoring while playing for a team with a losing record -- No. 23 may well have continued adding footage to his highlight reels in obscurity. Thus rendering the "Jordan saved the league" absolute incorrect.
  5. I take it you haven't read much of Jeff's other work. Try this one ... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...acgregor/090112 ...and then get back to me about your second point.
  6. The line in question said "single-handedly;" once you agreed that Reagan/Jordan didn't work in a vacuum, that rendered the rest of your point unnecessary. IMO.
  7. Just disappointed it took this long for someone to bite. Not sure whether I'd classify that as "obscene accusations and inflammatory arguments" or vice-versa. And yeah, folks, that's my link. I thought JW would be amused by this clip, which reminded me of a certain message board: Thanks for providing proof of same. BTW, Tom, Reagan was left-handed (or so he claimed) ...

  10. You say that like there's something wrong with it. P.S.: Go Habs Go.
  11. If he listens to Finebaum, it's probably a 24/7 running countdown to Bammer's spring practice.
  12. Warner didn't have his throwing elbow rebuilt.
  13. This from Mike Sando, who's a master at building massive databases of NFL players:
  14. You're listening to the wrong station, then. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/sports...650/detail.html http://unionrecorder.com/homepage/x1029321...-an-active-week John Clayton on SportsCenter http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/03/11/after-m...eft-scrambling/ http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/03/11/big-ben...than-you-think/
  15. If you want to patch a few holes and try to get to .500 this season -- like they've been doing for most of the decade -- then sure. But not as a long-term plan.
  16. Hah. You're right. Based on '07, that game (and Pittsburgh) should be here, too. Be interesting to see who's playing QB for BOTH those teams by then ...
  17. Someone asked Mark Gaughan about Delhomme when the Panthers first released him. MG's reply: "Jairus Byrd should have sent him a souvenir from the Pro Bowl..."
  18. That might actually be the best argument I've seen against bringing him back, if you know what I mean ...
  19. So ... no interview, no physical, no workout? Stellar plan.
  20. Jairus Byrd is now checking the schedule to see if Buffalo plays Cleveland again this year ...
  21. What? Two different Steigerwalds in Pittsburgh sportscasting -- brothers, I think -- and this one doesn't call hockey games.
  22. Update, per Mark Gaughan's chat: Kennedy will be speaking with Buffalo media in a few minutes.
  23. As usual, I'm running late, and Mark Gaughan is already at the keyboard: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/201...ive-chat-1.html Sully's on the schedule for 1pm: http://buffalonews.typepad.com/sully_on_sports/ And Tim's in his normal 3pm location: http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/...gger-tim-graham
  24. Walker's stats, 2007-09: knee surgeries 2, TD catches 1.
