  1. Indeed. Spent a good chunk of yesterday afternoon talking to this guy. (Well, asking a few questions, but mostly just hanging out listening to the wonderful stories he told.) During the course of the conversation, Coach Troup made two emphatic points about Buffalo: "Big Ses" (Tom Sestak) was one of the best defensive players he's ever seen, and Dick Jauron is absolutely the right coach for this team.
  2. Although their headline is vague, I wouldn't call it misleading. I know what VOR is trying to do here, but it still isn't working for me.
  3. Headline: "Driver of Marshawn Lynch's SUV revealed." First story: News 4 has learned that Steve Johnson was the other player in the car. No mention of driver. Second story: I'm trying to figure out how anyone can read that and come to the conclusion that Johnson was driving, but it isn't working for me. Help me out here.
  4. Thanks, Tim. Yes, the "he" refers to gomper. Look at his posts, the overwhelming majority of which were written solely to take shots at one or another of the local sportstalk hosts. Not that there's anything wrong with expressing his opinion -- I think the on-air guys all realize that negative feedback comes with the job -- but it would be nice if our friend gomper actually stopped by to talk about the team once in a while, ya know? One more note on that: while criticism of public figures is allowed here, personal attacks on other TSW posters are not. If you still doubt where I stand, rt, read my earlier posts in this thread ...
  5. Sure he can ... and he does, over and over and over and over. I'm curious, gomper: do you have some kind of spybot set up to alert you when there's WGR- or Riter-bashing to be had? Because we never hear from you otherwise ...
  6. My hometown wouldn't exist if the Allegheny River didn't cut through this valley; indeed, it was originally called "Canoe Place." I suspect most of the towns involved in this flood are the same way -- built before any roads were cut through the wilderness, when the rivers were the only means of travel.
  7. ...but it would be worse upstream. 45 years ago, the Corps of Engineers drowned several small towns on the PA/NY border when they built the Kinzua Dam to regulate water flow in Pittsburgh. Who gets to make that decision?
  8. And the hits just keep on coming: http://www.lvrj.com/news/20557774.html Umm, Pac? If it's okay with you, I don't want to be in your Fave Five. You're bad luck ...
  9. [This is an automated response] This subject matter is being currently being discussed or has already been discussed in a previous thread. Please consider using the "search" function before starting new topics. Thank you.
  10. And the updated schedule: http://buffalobills.com/team/TrainingCamp.jsp Ask and ye shall receive, Dennis. Good job setting things in motion.
  11. Hope you're feeling better, #89. And yeah, he was a special guy. Brokaw nailed it when he said, "We will not see his like again."
  12. Nothing on the media website yet, but everyone with V-coach (or whatever they're calling it now) got a message this morning: Verizon Wireless Training Camp will begin July 25 and end Aug. 20. A total of 20 open practices, including 7 night practices - 7/29, 31 and 8/5, 7, 11, 17, 19. As for parking, Naz apparently bailed out on them. I'd suggest East Rochester; when we get closer, I'll put up map links and such. (We had a great thread last year, but of course, that's gone ...)
  13. Agreed -- first time in a few years I had to turn on the AC before Memorial Day. Supposed to get back up into the mid-70s by the end of the weekend, though.
  14. Nope, not a new rule. They told me the same thing when I tried to order a Conlan shirt. Here's what the NFLShop rules say: Retired player names cannot be printed on the team's jersey from which they retired. Why? Some of the retirees are suing the NFLPA for royalties on their names/images -- Ex-NFL Players Can Sue Union -- because most of them apparently never got the licensing fees they were promised. Guys like Kelly and Thomas must have signed a separate contract to allow the use of their names/numbers by Mitchell and Ness and other throwback manufacturers; remember, Kelly (and the other QB Club members) once broke away from the NFLPA's group licensing program to make a lucrative deal with NFL Properties. Now, Bobby C. retired as a Raider, Conlan a Ram, but I imagine they'd argue that the rule applies to every team those players were on. Might be worth a phone call to check it out, though. Trouble is, if you want a throwback, NFLShop only has replicas available. My other thought? As Falstaff said, get a Hardy jersey and find someone to do a new nameplate. That way, the Bills/NFL never have to know ...
  15. 20A (Big Tree)? They've been saying 20 (Southwestern) all along ...
  16. Haven't heard about one. From the BN story about his wake: "Buffalo will get its chance to honor Russert at 10 a. m. Sunday, when Canisius High School offers a Mass in memory of its alumnus in its auditorium." I'm unfamiliar with the place, but it had better be a BIG auditorium.
  17. Sad thing is, Dave (DML) is right. Crap like this makes me wonder why I'm still here. Maybe that needs to change.
  18. Spider, I'm in the same boat. Just hafta pick another name, or add TBD at the end, something like that ...
  19. A quick note: Grant has contacted me, and wishes to pass along his gratitude for all the prayers and words of encouragement the fine people of the Stadium Wall have sent in his direction. More later ...
  20. Did it log you in as Spider or as a guest? If the former, I'd guess it was just asking you to reconfirm your password, and you do that in the text box. Can't log in at all? More details, please ...
  21. Out of curiosity, how many people have me on ignore? Just wondering ...
  22. The list would then read Dwayne Wright, Xavier Omon, Shaud Williams, and Bruce Hall ... and I still can't see Chicago wanting any of them. On t'other hand, this IS Jerry Angelo we're talking about ...
  23. Between Lynch's tough running style, which would seem to guarantee he'll miss some time every year, and any possible suspension from the Chippewa thing, Fred Jackson may be called on to start a game or three again this season. The other RBs on the roster: Dwayne Wright, Xavier Omon, and Bruce Hall. Considering that Chicago spent a second-round pick on Tulane's Matt Forte and still has the other Adrian Peterson (who should be all right by training camp), I can't see them wanting any of the names on that list badly enough to trade for them.
