  1. Drinking. What, that's not on there? Oh, and by the way, nice 'tar. Jerry would be proud.
  2. Ugh. A friend is fighting the same battle, and the prognosis is not good. All cancer is evil, but the pancreatic version is more lethal than most. Like Joe D, I strongly disagreed with some of Upshaw's rhetoric against the retired players ... but as someone who grew up loving those 1970s Raiders teams, today was tough. I'd heard the first whispers of this before I left for work this morning, but didn't put it on the main board because I couldn't confirm it -- and held out hope that it wasn't true. Rest easy, No. 63.
  3. I know some of you participated in the first one, so I thought I'd give you a heads-up on Tim Graham's latest venture into the wild world of the ESPN chat room ... Let's chat it up, AFC East style Edit: Due to Gene Upshaw's death, Tim was (understandably) otherwise occupied. Chat will be rescheduled.
  4. Kudos to the crew from Corporate Parkway -- they'll be broadcasting live from Eastern Hills Mall the next couple of days, to raise awareness (and money) for Hunter's Hope. The pertinent info follows: Hunter's Hope Radiothon Nick Mendola's blog: A chance to give I have a very personal reason to wish Jim success in his quest -- an older brother I never got the chance to know, because he died shortly after his first birthday (and three years before I was born) from an illness similar to Krabbe Leukodystrophy -- so I'd like to extend my gratitude to the WGR staff for joining the cause. If you're in a position to lend a hand, I'd ask you to give some thought to hitting that "donate" link. I will be. (End of commercial, back to your regularly-scheduled programming ...)
  5. Valid point ... although in most cases, one would expect it to show up on the station's Web site. WHAM seems to be an exception.
  6. Hamdan has used up his practice squad eligibility. I could see them keeping just five WRs, with either Justin Jenkins or Steve Johnson filling the last spot. (Since Jenkins appeared in 11 games last season, he is also no longer eligible for the PS.) Hate to see either one of those guys leave, though.
  7. Like I said, maybe he just stopped by the house.
  8. I really think Peters' intransigence is the only possible holdup, and I'd hate to see them keep Estes or sign another journeyman (in lieu of keeping Bell on the roster) because of it. Dammit, 71, get in here already. And it's a lot easier to teach run blocking than pass protection, wouldn't you say?
  9. Practice squad? They may well IR Matt Murphy and carry Bell on the roster, because someone else might sign him if they try to sneak him through waivers. Depends on Peters, though. If he continues his Invisible Man act, I'm not sure the team could go into the season with a rookie as the No. 3 tackle.
  10. Doesn't completely jibe with what Chris Brown is saying:
  11. ... when they moved up to draft their Left Tackle of the Future, Joe Staley, with the No. 28 overall pick ...
  12. That Burnt Sienna you ate had lead in it, didn't it?
  13. How about we wait and see if he plays on Sunday before trumpeting the arrival of the End Times?
  14. Further update: Jauron's calling it a quad contusion, and Lynch did ice his knee after practice.
  15. Supposedly, his agent is working the phones trying to drum up interest. (And for the record, Buffalo is apparently not on his list.)
  16. Whole bunch of Colts (including Manning) still on the PUP list, although Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders did return to practice this morning. I thought this week's preview was going to be an easy one -- blah blah blah Pro Bowls, blah blah 41,000 passing yards, etc., etc. -- but instead of working on my stuff for the tab, I'm spending this evening studying up on Jim Sorgi ...
  17. Knee-to-knee with Lynch. (TE's right leg.) Walked off the field under his own power, with a very slight limp. This per Paul Hamilton, via txt to Dennis Williams.
  18. Fair enough. I imagine Graham wanted to do his own reporting on the situation, and this was his first visit to the Bills since he took the ESPN job.
  19. Um, Clark Judge didn't write that. This guy did. And I don't recall hearing about Brandon's visit to Sirius Radio anywhere else, although I might have missed it.
  20. Not for more than six weeks in a row, I'm guessing. Twenty-one games in three seasons with San Fran. Too bad for the guy. And if he wasn't so darn injury-prone I think the Bills would have re-signed him, and we wouldn't have had to spend all that time kvetching about his (pre-Peters) replacements at left tackle.
  21. Not sure I believe that they'd cut him outright, but with a new coach in place, you never can tell. What was that new contract? Something like seven years, $40 million? He's allllllllllll yours, Baltimore.
