  1. Fabio's buddy, Mock. Although that could also apply to you, me, Dean, and a bunch of other people here ...
  2. What? How DARE you suggest that defenses should intentionally attempt to injure Pennington? You bastage. (For the record, that's not my opinion -- that's a PG-13 version of a few of of the responses Tim Graham received when he mentioned the same idea on his blog after the Pats* game: Wildcat weakness: Destroy the vulnerable QB)
  3. Nope -- that was Ted Washington. Mularkey was the head coach by the time TD let Williams walk. And while many here agreed with Washington's release, they'd learned their lesson by the time P. Williams left -- as Simon says, there weren't a lot of people defending that decision. To clear something else up while I'm here, the "Package" was a 3-4 set (not a 4-3), with Williams sliding out to RE.
  4. Houston, too. (And that one is served up with an annoying Texas twang.) Made me even happier when the Bills won that game.
  5. As Marc (LA) said, most of the Cards fans looked like they were tailgating at a chess match. Almost complete silence, with most of them watching the early games (and more than a few wine-and-brie types in the mix). We were walking up the sidewalk past them when we heard music and cheering coming from the next lot over. Yup, Bills fans. That was our cue to cut across the desert -- well, the barren patch of dirt in between the lots, anyway -- and join the party. Marc, it was a pleasure finally meeting you. Hate to think I'll never see you at a game again, but Aussie might have a point about that "jinx" stuff. If we make it to the playoffs, you're not allowed anywhere near the stadium ...
  6. Should've been here -- it was even more fun in person. (Well, other than one three-hour period, the weekend was fun ...)
  7. Hah. Heading out to breakfast. More later. Go Bills!
  8. Yep - Lori definitely needs a rental car with auto lights off feature. Havin' a good time in Glendale. Diane (Aussie)
  9. 7:50 a.m., and a chilly 66 degrees in beautiful downtown Glendale. Of course, we have yet to see beautiful downtown Glendale, if there is one, but there's an impressive (if touristy and a bit upscale) entertainment district right by the stadium with plenty of distractions for kids of all ages. Unfortunately, I missed seeing Pinto Kenny try to ride one of those mechanical bulls on Friday night -- that would have been worth a laugh. University of Phoenix Stadium is pretty cool in spots, surprisingly stark in others. (Take the "cool" literally. Their AC system is powerful enough to refrigerate every one of the 2,300 houses in my hometown.) The press box is just a little different than the 8'-by-12' plywood model where I spent part of last Saturday. Still don't care for the end-zone view, but that's the way most new stadiums are going, I guess. A quiet Saturday afternoon by the pool was nice. Hah. Quiet? Who am I kidding? Take a resort pool/hot tub complex, add a few dozen Bills fans and copious amounts of alcohol, and you'll have a good picture of our afternoon. Not sure hotel management enjoyed watching people toss a football back and forth between the pool and the hot tub, but we thought it was a good idea at the time ...
  10. The last four Wall of Fame honorees: 2008: Bruce Smith - likely first-ballot Hall of Famer, Class of 2009 2007: Steve Tasker - Hall of Fame semifinalist 2006: Andre Reed - Hall of Fame semifinalist 2005: Thurman Thomas - Hall of Fame, Class of 2007 They look worthy to me ...
  11. 1. I heart Moose Drool. 2. Saturday afternoon by the pool, beer in hand, in October? Toto, we're not in Kansas Buffalo any more ... 3. As always, the local bar waitstaffs have been overwhelmed by a rampaging horde of Bills fans. 4. I also heart Fat Tire. 5. Guess that's why I left the lights on and fried the battery in the rental car. I'll blame it on that, anyway. Still, though, a good time is being had by all. More later ...
  12. Um, yeah, that may not be such a good idea. (Jay says, "And I have to sit with him ?!?!?) Would you rather wear a Russert #72 throwback? I brought both that and a Poz ...
  13. Oh, he'd give us a shoutout, all right ... but probably not the kind we'd appreciate.
  14. Thanks for posting this, scribo. By the time the link hit my PM inbox, I was already on my way out of town. By the way, it's WARM out here ... think I'll be glad they have a dome by 1 p.m. Sunday.
  15. http://www.twobillsdrive.com/articles/game...me_day_preview/ If you catch any typos or mistakes, they'll have to wait a while. See you in Glendale!
  16. That's all the further I needed to read. This isn't fantasy football, and this isn't 2005.
  17. You guys watched the kick? Seventeen years, and I haven't made it that far ...
  18. Tim Graham weighs in: Evans third-richest WR? Believe it Good opinion further down, too:
  19. While I'm still queasy about knockoffs -- after all, they ARE breaking the law -- the fact remains that if the NFL (and other professional sports) didn't so spectacularly overprice their merchandise, the market for bootlegs wouldn't exist. I'll still caution people about the cheesier-looking fakes, or about "deals" that aren't ... but if someone doesn't want to pay $300 for a shirt, can't say I blame them. Enjoy your jersey. You too, Jay.
  20. When I clicked on this thread, I was hoping someone had already mentioned that. You mean we can move that Patriots game from Foxborough to Toronto? Coooool. I love when people here gets angry for NOTHING! Dr Z rankings are about the only ones i read. Must be because dr Z is about the only football writer i respect.... amen ^^ stuff like that is useless, and I agree with you on Dr. Z as a writer I respect, and his list is his opinion which he is entitled to, even if I don't like where he put the Titans. The Bills I think are right about where they should be, and if they beat the cardinals, will deserve to be higher. GO BILLS!!! You realize olivier was agreeing with Dean, not you, right? Just sayin'.
  21. HFB to one of my favorite writers in this place ... If'n you ever make it up to a home game, the first round's on me.
  22. Just out of curiosity, what was his take? I don't get to listen to him much these days ...
