  1. Probably wasn't a heart attack, or at least not the type you're thinking of. From an acquaintance on another board (a nationally-known emergency medicine specialist, FWIW): Here's an article he wrote last September: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art...rticlekey=83951
  2. I could be wrong, Dean, but I'm guessing DiCesare hasn't set foot inside the stadium since the Oakland game. And Mark Gaughan, who is out there for every practice, recently suggested Parrish might be ready for the Miami game.
  3. Hmmm. Guess this ticket for the Nov. 30 game at the Ralph is a misprint, then.
  4. Yup. Long way from booking a flight to Miami in January, and there's a lot of football to be played before then. For starters, getting past the we-can't-beat-Michigan brainlock this week.
  5. Guess I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue bench Vince Jackson. (Good thing I have a 30-point lead, and Brandon Jacobs going tomorrow night ...)
  6. Valid point, but I'm not sure I can name a team in the league that has no deficiencies. (Maybe the Giants, and if the Bills end up playing them later this season ... well, I could live with that.) The Pats are no longer the Pats*. Chargers and Colts are still pretty good, but on a different level than the rest of the conference? I'm not so sure. Close enough to roll the dice, for the (alleged) price of a third-round pick, as was rumored earlier? I'd make that deal.
  7. Welcome back, Fred! And whoever got the phone call to fix it is cussing out those message-board fanbois something fierce right now, I'd guess. P.S.: The depth chart is still wrong ...
  8. That the same Ohio State team which just barely snuck by Wisky 20-17, on a touchdown with just over a minute left in the game, the week before Penn State folded, spindled, and mutilated them? Yup, nothing better than college football.
  9. Sorry, Fred, we deleted your profile. No hard feelings, eh?
  10. You're correct. The number was 7-2 before the Buffalo game, which would now make them 9-2.
  11. Zona is pretty good at home. 8-2 in the new building, by my count. And I seem to remember mentioning that point before the game last week ...
  12. And Langston Walker is now listed as the starter at both RT and LT. Hmmm. Although interesting things do seem to be afoot, maybe said depth chart isn't all that trustworthy. Just a thought.
  13. Camp Randall was mighty quiet once the game started, no?
  14. True, but I think Peterson has so much respect for Gonzalez that if the numbers were close, he'd take TG's opinion into consideration. On the other hand, if it's a six from the Giants or a three from the Bills, this is still a business decision. And this is all very much hypothetical, of course ... but damn, it's fun to think about No. 88 pulling on a Bills jersey.
  15. Different needs, perhaps. The Bills admitted they needed an offseason upgrade at DT, but they've publicly made noises about being happy with their TE corps. Of course, most of us strongly disagree with that assessment. I will note that the number 88 jersey is not currently in use, and I'd have no problem with them finding a way to fill it ... especially with one of the game's all-time great tight ends. If the Chiefs are only asking for a third-round pick for a guy who's still better than Jeremy Shockey ever dreamed of being? That's a deal I make every time. Some additional fuel for the fire, courtesy of the KC Star: Posnanski: Hard to see how Tony can come back now Whitlock: Trading Gonzalez to contender would be right thing, but price may not be right
  16. But that was a Dallas fumble through the end zone Buffalo was defending. This was a kick blocked through the kicking team's own end zone, which is normally a safety ... unless one very specific action happens. Here's the rule I didn't know existed until I saw it called, then frantically dug through the rulebook to find it: The referee ruled that during the scramble to recover the loose ball, one of the players from the receiving team inadvertently struck it with his leg, forcing it out of the back of the end zone. Tough to see from the press box -- the stands aren't that high, and the lighting at that field could be brighter -- but the block itself definitely didn't send the ball all the way past the back line.
  17. If Bill Polian was still at One Bills Drive, I'm thinking he'd make this move. I love the idea, but I'm not sure if it fits into the current administration's plans ...
  18. dev/ and Bmwolf nailed it. I don't have the NCAA rulebook, but the NFHS uses the same rules. Here's what they say: Here's a good one for you -- ran into it at my game Friday night, and neither coach had ever seen it happen before. (Nor had I, but our radio announcer got it right.) The team I cover was punting from inside its own 10. Bad snap, blocked punt, loose ball knocked out of the end zone. Ruling: Touchback. What happened?
  19. Really? You didn't think that it was a direct refutation of this? Guess we'll agree to disagree, then.
  20. Penn State 48, Wisconsin 7. I'm doing just fine, thanks.
  21. I laid out my EXACT criteria: first-round pick, ypc similar to Lynch. If you want to use a different set of numbers, feel free.
