  1. And the Vrabel deal suddenly makes more sense. And if Pioli got both those guys for a second-rounder, the league really needs to look into a collusion case between those two franchises.
  2. He works for the NFL, he probably just sits at NFL headquarters in New York and chats up some admin officere who processes these trade requests. The NFL Network studios are in L.A., but Schefter obviously does have some connections at 280 Park Avenue. Don't worry, Mort will be along to report this breaking news shortly. But as I pointed out with the Coles visit, Schefter isn't immune to being scooped either ...
  3. The dead-tree edition may be obsolete, but God help us all if the same ever becomes true of journalism.
  4. Standard operating procedure for this franchise, and for once, I'm not being a wiseass. They let CBs walk, then use first-round picks to replace them. If they'd held onto Milloy for a couple more years, the pick they used on Whitner could have beefed up one of the lines instead. And speaking of the lines, they've been looking for a solution at DT ever since they decided a $12M contract was too much to pay for Pat Williams, no?
  5. FWIW ... newspaper people all over the country raised a toast to the RMN at 10:45 MST last night, when deadline hit for the final replate. I was already at work by then, so I'm making up for it tonight. And getting a head start for the earlier editions. *raises glass* The Rocky.
  6. Heh. I think Mr. Graham got less sleep than I did last night, and I was working a midnight shift ... Tim, that's not the only curious thing about Coles. According to one blog that's had decent info at times, he's still in town: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=83654 Trouble is, that directly contradicts what your former colleague at The News wrote: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/200...visit-ends.html Got anything on that? And it truly is a small world -- Biggane's a Bona grad, and I think he interned at the OTH. (That was a while ago, though. )
  7. No, but there was probably a Mar. 1 roster bonus involved.
  8. So THAT'S what happened to Darcy Regier's old fax machine !!
  9. Pretty close, by the looks of it. And for all you volunteer moderators out there tonight, thanks, but I'm pretty sure we already have everyone we need. Regards, the management
  10. Nah. Some of us just see the opportunity for another snarky one-liner. Myself included. Tim's busy with a conference call. Guessing it's not because of this signing.
  11. Too late. I already ordered my jersey.
  12. Personal attacks aside -- and as a public figure, Jerry knows those come with the territory -- I'd like some proof of "He intentionally misquotes." That's a serious accusation.

  14. It's now on the crawl on the NFL Net with a "Breaking News: Adam Schefter reports ..." tag. Yeah. Nice scoop there, Adam.
  15. Hmmm. Now there's a No. 2 I wouldn't mind having, as long as he hasn't head-butted any more walls lately. STrib Vikes blog: Frerotte moves on
  16. Looks like they finally found out, with a staff report on Schefter's blog. (Thanks for pointing that out, Tim.)
  17. Because all those early big-money signings (Jeff Posey, Derrick Dockery) have worked out SOOOOOOO well for the Bills in the past ...

  19. Hysterical, isn't it? If I had Schefter's e-mail, I'd send him the link to the bb.com story.
  20. No kidding, NYC. What, they don't read ESPN? http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-5-133...y-visitors.html
