  1. Threadjack over ... Bill Hoppe reports that Stafford is "80-90 percent" probable to play tonight, according to Lindy Ruff.
  2. That after undergoing an ACL reconstruction just before Christmas, he might be on the PUP list to start the season?
  3. As I just noted on Twitter: The Lions now have NONE of their draft picks from 2002-06 left on their roster. Nice work, Millen. ADD: BG, Pettigrew is rehabbing an ACL.
  4. Canadian ancestry, although a couple of generations removed. Also, a childhood crush on Guy Lafleur. And, well, that big shiny silver thingy they skate around with. Posing with Lord Stanley was the highlight of my last trip to Toronto. (Sure wasn't the Bills game.) That said, I own more USA sweaters than Habs ones, and nothing with a maple leaf. Hope that's enough of a mitigating circumstance to commute my sentence.
  5. Seriously? I've never made any secret of my puck loyalty to the bleu, blanc, et rouge. I do, however, root for the Swordsmen whenever they're not facing Les Habitants.
  6. So for the people who want Roethlisomething here: what should the Bills plan to do at QB while he's suspended? Hearing at LEAST six games.
  7. You didn't read the "story" a couple of pages back, did you? You didn't? Good.
  8. He's a lot of fun both on Twitter and when he does the in-game Bills chats for the BuffNews. Also their lead baseball writer, and a good one; in fact, a Bisons story he wrote made it into the Top 10 in this year's APSE awards. Think he was the only local guy to place in the national contest ... ... other than Chuck Pollock, who tied for first place in column-writing.
  9. Easy fix, if you don't wish to read either his blog or the posts referring to it: don't click on them. And a reminder: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=106793
  10. And a whole bunch of people who thought Ryan Leaf had greater potential. (Perhaps he did, if he wasn't also an idiot.) That wasn't exactly a cut-and-dried call.
  11. True. Shannon will be in the HOF someday. Without the neck injury, Sterling might have been. And from other sports, Brent Gretzky and Billy Ripken say hello. Must be tough trying to live up to those expectations.
  12. Do not belong on that good/bad list: Bruce and Clay Matthews (Jr). Clay might not be in the HOF, but he was a damn good LB for many years.
  13. Meet a conspiracy theorist, then: http://www.salon.com/news/media_criticism/...s_in_journalism
  14. Yup. Goes back to the question: If the Bills aren't convinced that anyone available at #9 is a legit "franchise quarterback," would they be further ahead by letting the current crop muddle through this season, building the team at other positions, and targeting someone they like better next April?
  15. Tracks back to this: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Sunday...-Post-7983.html
  16. Per Bill Hoppe: Vanek's doubtful for Game 3, but could return at some point in this series. Not sure I believe the second part, but we'll see. Add: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2010/0...-in-series.html
  17. Interesting take, since John Clayton's name has appeared on Tim's blog precisely four times since March 1, and not once in regard to a mock draft. Perhaps you're thinking of someone else?
  18. No matter what actually happened that night, one thing can't be disputed: the Milledgeville PD screwed up. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10108/1051441-66.stm Add that to the missing videotape, and the MPD sergeant who was posing for photos with Roethlisberger several hours before telling the friends/bodyguards/whatever, "WE have a problem" ...
  19. Damn shame if Vanek is out (which seems likely, the way he crawled onto the bench). Thought he really came back with a vengeance at the end of the season. If he is, whole bunch of guys on that team need to start working a little harder for their paychecks, because Miller can't do it alone. I thought they were in trouble in Game 1; if Rivet's shot hadn't gotten by Rask ... As for my Habs, if you'd asked me last week, I'd have gladly taken a split in D.C. But to be up 4-1 with the possibility of heading back to Quebec with a 2-0 lead, and then throw it away ... argh.
  20. Not hard at all ... once you know there's a reason to do so.
  21. The slash was on the right knee, but the LEFT was the one he couldn't put any weight on, which leads me to suspect going into the boards was what did the real damage. Of course, Ruff isn't about to tell. Tim's take: Vanek lost in defeat to Bruins JW: Chara, Ryder score 2 each as Bruins even series Mike Harrington: Offense suffers a Vanek attack Sal: Sabres lose Game 2 to Bruins, and Vanek to injury
