  1. Don't say "never" works out; we loved us some Jabari Greer back when he was a training-camp all-star, and he turned out okay. The rest of your point stands ...
  2. Good stuff, Dave. I'll add one short note: while the 1990 Philly game is generally considered the K-Gun's official unveiling, they actually began the season opener against Indy with it, forcing the Colts to burn a quick timeout while they were trying to figure out what hit 'em. The drive stalled after that and the Bills were held to a Norwood FG, but the seeds had been sown. From The Buffalo Bills and the Almost-Dream Season:
  3. That's because it didn't exist. Tim G.'s reply to me over on Facebook:
  4. Yeah, well, don't you guys put ketchup on everything? FWIW, now that people can claim their own names on Facebook, I'm told you can find Tim's page at http://www.facebook.com/Tim.Graham.ESPN ...
  5. Dustin Keller's a TE, so yeah, I'm assuming he'll start whether Mark Sanchez or Kellen Clemens is their QB.
  6. Funny, I was just planning on posting this: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=67246 :lifts glass in tribute: We miss you, Tim.
  7. Yeah, I'm not digging the sleeve stripes. Wish they'd done a mirror of the home jerseys, with blue stripes outlined in red. Still an order of magnitude better than the current road gear, though. Add the AFL 50th patch, and I may even be convinced to buy one ... and I haven't bought a jersey in at least two years, maybe three.
  8. Um, yeah, that pretty much covers it. Except for the fact that the Bengals' version -- the "sugar" huddle in particular -- was willfully designed to catch the defense with too many men on the field if they tried to substitute. That's why Levy complained to the league, and he was right. The K-Gun didn't need chicanery; with three Hall of Famers (and counting) on the field, they merely ran the defense ragged. Oh, and <bleep> Boomer. One of my favorite Bruce Smith sacks was a decleater on Norman, after he'd moved on to the Jets.
  9. You'll have to ask the nerds at SPACE.com; it's their story. http://www.space.com/news/090612-boy-hit-by-meteorite.html
  10. I ruined that cite with the merge, Sorry about that ...
  11. Merging the thread, since this isn't exactly breaking news, will take care of that.
  12. Here's an interview: http://www.newsok.com/multimedia/video/25841020001
  13. This one's even better: "Well, we'd like to be undefeated, but we're not, so ..." I think I need to go look up that gem from last season and make it my new sig.
  14. Rookie year. Gary McDermott wore that number in 1968, so Simpson took No. 36 until McDermott was released.
  15. Look, I'm not trying to argue that everything's fine and dandy and they're ready to take on the Pats. I just don't have a huge issue with using one minicamp practice as a walkthrough. He didn't cancel it; they were still working on plays. One thing that did make me laugh from the press conference, though: The huddle's not complicated, but they sure do seem to have a problem getting out of it and up to the line without having to rush to get the plays off.
  16. The parents are already talking to Scott Boras and trying to figure out ways to game the draft. Not thrilled about that, although the story I linked does make it sound like the kid doesn't have an attitude himself.
  17. To be fair, Gaughan says he "expects" them to unveil a white one. Hasn't been confirmed, although it does seem likely.
  18. From Jauron's post-practice PC: Sounds like a learning experience to me.
  19. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/200...ive-chat-1.html Because the Pats canceled practice today, Tim rescheduled his flight home, so he'll be unavailable this afternoon.
  20. It is. He's playing summer ball in the Oklahoma City area. From someone who works out there: "The kid just moved to our area for the summer and possibly for next school year. Tonight, through five innings, he's 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a triple off the centerfield wall, a broken bat single and 5 RBIs." Not sure if this is the same game he was talking about: http://www.newsok.com/the-bryce-harper-sho...article/3376753
  21. I see. Because the Pats are successful, they don't need to show up for work in June. Because the Bills aren't, holding a walkthrough instead of a full-contact practice the very same week is grounds for firing up the torches and handing out pitchforks. I have a lot of reasons to dislike Jauron's coaching ability, but this isn't one of them. Sorry.
  22. Patriots minicamp practice called off
