  1. Creator of ‘The Sopranos’ to Make HBO Mini-Series
  2. Here's Phil Mickelson, through the eyes of his opponents ... http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=c...3&pageNum=2 ... and here's Phil Mickelson, too. Might want to read this one before you draw any conclusions about him: http://www.augusta.com/stories/040107/mas_122384.shtml
  3. The entire run of The Wire is out on DVD. Pick it up; you won't regret it. Amazing work by David Simon.
  4. Yup. This was the tipping point. Christiane Amanpour: "The red line has been crossed. Dramatic shift inside Iran. You can hear Death to Khamenei in the streets." The NYT's Roger Cohen, reporting from Tehran: "Iran has waited long enough to be free." Now, we sit back and watch to find out whether it's Lexington and Concord, or Tiananmen Square.
  5. AFL shoot 2 Scroll down to check out the Broncos throwbacks. Yes -- complete with the brown-and-yellow striped socks!
  6. The recent law allowing ticket resales recently expired, defaulting to the older $2-above-face-value version on the books. The state legislature fully intended to continue it, but as you've probably heard, they're not getting much work done these days. Best guess is that it will probably -- stress probably -- be taken care of before the season begins. Edit: didn't click the link until just now, so didn't realize that True had reposted the story I read when it first ran. My bad ...
  7. There is absolutely logic to it, which I've already pointed out. He loves the spotlight, but only when it's his decision to step onstage. And consider this: I'm merely speculating here, but what if a tour of the new digs was supposed to be part of the VH1 show, and the Buffalo TV news footage blew that "exclusive" all to hell?
  8. Believe the Dolphins, Pats, and Colts games are now the only ones with single-game tix available.
  9. Umm .. wow. I miss all the fun. When Mr. Owens, Mr. Wawrow, and the VH1 camera crew went on their house-hunting trip, T.O. knew he was onstage. Same with the Twitter account; hell, one of the Buffalo TV stations is running a feed of his tweets on their Web site. Situps in the driveway, tearful interviews, et cetera, et cetera -- all part of a very public persona. But considering that he was in California when his real-estate agent -- who he claims agreed to keep the deal confidential -- apparently called up every media outlet listed in the Buffalo phone book to arrange tours of the place without his permission, honestly, can you blame the guy for getting a little bent about this? Apparently, some of you can. Eh, whatever.
  10. Goodell is on the HOF's Board of Trustees. That said, I do not believe the enshrinement ceremony falls directly under the jurisdiction of the commissioner, and the criteria for selection does not take off-the-field activities into account. Lawrence Taylor and Michael Irvin were both enshrined despite previous convictions on their records, so I don't expect the commish to have much of anything to say about Bruce's latest transgression.
  11. Correct. Each team has already been assigned 20 players, which most likely includes their starting QBs. Here's what Chris Mortensen said about JP (via Twitter): "JP Losman technically not in draft but he'll play for Vegas, hoping work w Fassel can resurrect skills. Using Kerry Collins as role model." Also in Vegas: WR David Kirkus, who played for Detroit and Denver. Think he had some legal trouble and washed out of the league. Also speculation that Mike Vick could end up with Orlando.
  12. Personally, I always thought those shoulder stripes were sweet. The helmets were a little too plain until they added the blue, though ... As for thinking those pants looked like the old Pats, the design is close, but the colors are reversed: http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/fall05/bro...e/patriots.html http://web.archive.org/web/20050126015003/...0/Buffalo64.gif http://web.archive.org/web/20050126013624/...60/Boston61.gif
  13. Hate to disagree, Sir Rubeo, but my '65 Topps cards have the bottom-of-sleeve stripes, not the UCLA-style ones. And the pics of the '64 team on this page look like the current "throwbacks" (except for the numbers on the shoulders instead of the sleeves, of course).
  14. The pants actually look more like original Patriots gear, don't they?
  15. Got a room in the same hotel as Jay. It's a single, but I have to think there's a way around that. And I took a beating on the price, so I wouldn't mind getting a little of that $$$ back ...
  16. FYI: The UFL Access report he cites was actually posted Tuesday afternoon, not "earlier today" (Wednesday). Still several hours after I began this thread, but we have the same source.
  17. He's in L.A. right now, and he probably flipped out when someone told him there were camera crews filming the place.
  18. Yeah. That was the line I liked. C'est la vie ...
  19. From the infamous Twitter: (That link has been pulled, btw.) Somebody apparently made a few calls on this BREAKING NEWS! story ...
  20. So does this mean an update, John? (FWIW, you were correct -- same street, but different address. Thinking you already knew that, though.) Bet you can't wait for vacation ... Add: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-8-210...use-search.html
  21. Here? Never. Your lede made me chuckle, btw. Nice work.
  22. No doubt. He could be a bust, or he could be Rookie of the Year. But it's kind of hard to tell either way in June, no?
