Buffalo Super Fan

I use to debate this take but after 30 years supporting UB Bulls athletics especially football as a UB Bulls fan who never went to UB the school there no path to big time Super Conference football at UB. UB stadium basically is so dated now it would be better to start over building a new football stadium. Which isn’t happening this school can’t afford a updated football scoreboard let alone a new football stadium. The only play here for UB Bulls big time is the Connecticut Huskies route get into the Big East Conference for basketball park UB football program somewhere or drop it completely before Syracuse Orange figures out there is no future for them in Super Conference football either when the ACC conference gets picked apart. Sorry Syracuse Orange football fans your never going to be Ohio State or Alabama or USC. Look at yourself 40,000 seats you can’t fill them for football even if you did it isn’t enough you need another 40,000 just not happening at Syracuse Orange the market is too small 800,000 metro isn’t getting it done nor is New York State high school football talent sorry but that is telling it like it is. Syracuse Orange basketball also belongs in the Big East Conference playing Buffalo Bulls. ACC hasn’t been good for Syracuse Orange over than money. The Syracuse Orange basketball looks terrible too. UB Bulls need to get there basketball programs in the Big East Conference where there on television on the weekends and are able to bring better college basketball programs to Western New York again competition wise for the WNY sports fans to enjoy before Syracuse Orange does. Especially since the Buffalo Sabres suck so bad at least WNY sports fans would have a option. It might make PSE work harder to fix the forever losing Buffalo Sabres and save it WNY sports fans that is also telling it like it is in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Go Bills! Go Sabres! I wouldn’t worry about how many stars UB recruits are. I would worry about UB the university not addressing UB Stadiums horrible outdated scoreboard there is zero excuse for that we are a FBS football school a fake New York State flagship. If UB was a real state flagship our UB Stadium wouldn’t look like it does now with a horrible track and a worse early 2000’s scoreboard horrible. I question when UB Stadium starts falling apart like Highmark Stadium and Key Bank Center if UB the university is going to bother with FBS football anymore. I would be more concerned with UB Bulls football existing then star numbers by UB recruits because of the UB university attitude of doing nothing from the schools end. If it isn’t student fees or private money from donors the state and university isn’t interested in football or really anything athletics wise unfortunately as a UB Bulls fan in my opinion. Most Buffalo Bills fans won’t have that problem it is called this thing called smart huge screen television. I think if I am right what is coming in major professional sports leagues for the future NFL 62,000 stadium is way to big. The NFL is going down a corporate high end fan base replacing working class fans who are going to the television a 40,000 seat baseball stadium might be too big for NFL teams. I am not talking just Buffalo either most cities that aren’t New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Major League ballparks are going to get smaller. The Buffalo Sabres arena Key Bank Center is way too big 19,000 for the ticket demand at the cost the Buffalo Sabres want. 14,000 to 16,500 is the right size even that might be too big 14,000 for when the Buffalo Sabres renovated Key Bank Center. Professional sports is a television sports show now like Monday Night Football or the Game of the Week baseball and Hockey Night in Canada but with better television sets. Because of ticket prices and sports fans realizing after Covid-19 being home that the television is nice no restroom line no time in the car and money in my pocket. The backyard has plenty of room for tailgating. Basically taste and interest change with each generation. Don’t be fooled by the Buffalo Bills go to games yes now today because the Bills are hot ticket because there good. But sports for first time since I have been on this earth 54 plus years 55 years end of December is looking at losing fans at the gate around the major professional sports for a lot of different reason cost is huge. Major league baseball attendance is way down. NHL attendance is way down. I love the Buffalo Bills but at home is way better and cheaper on the wallet plus more time with family. PSE can do whatever they want with the new Bills stadium zero interest in freezing anymore for the Bills or anything really. So if I am saying that who grew up freezing at Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bisons games I would think I am not the only Buffalo fan saying that. The Bills are on television and for the Bisons I get all the games streaming service for the whole year so there games are all on television now right into fans homes today it really is the cheaper better way. Especially since I been to games for almost 50 years. I know what the live game experience is like been there and done that at way cheaper prices. There is no need to freeze or pay way too high ticket prices PSL’s are insanity and parking prices $40 dream on that is insanity too for a suburban parking lot where down the road the stores parking are free. UB Bulls football Amherst parking is free what makes Orchard Park parking hot no thanks we aren’t Los Angeles. The Bisons parking in downtown Buffalo is insane to pay $15 for parking when the Bisons ticket is $13 insanity no thanks to both the television set experience today are all some in my opinion. Nebraska is sad compared to when I was young Buffalo fan. But I don’t believe Nebraska is going to be the only one. I question all these kids wanting to go to Ohio State over USC Trojans once they enter the Big Ten Conference I think things are going to change for Ohio State like Michigan. Los Angeles for Ohio and Michigan kids is going to look more attractive there the future Nebraska. I got news for Syracuse Orange football fans your UB Bulls football in Super Conferences. Don’t lie to yourself run to the Big East Conference like Connecticut Huskies basketball did to save some dignity before UB Bulls basketball beats you there they both should be there. Syracuse Orange and Buffalo Bulls football aren’t running with Super Conference USC Trojans and Georgia Bulldogs not happening. UB Bulls basketball needs to get to the Big East Conference fast for big time anything at UB. Tage Thompson I don’t like the length of the contract 5 years is too risky for a one year break out player for the Buffalo Sabres. Plus it locks a Sabres roster spot for five years on a organization with a lot of prospects that might potentially be better than Tage Thompson? Now he is harder to trade with that money and contract length. Plus the $50 million dollars is better used at PSE fully privately renovating Key Bank Center. Not one dime of public money when you are spending crazy on Tage Thompson the NHL television money doesn’t match this guarantee contract. NHL isn’t the NFL. I also don’t believe Tage Thompson wants to be here long term that is what Jack Eichel, Tyler Myers, Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek they all say it when they are young, naive with no money and they want the guarantee money then the power shifts from hockey team to player. Three years from now if the Sabres continue to suck which is a possibility “Howard Hughes like” Terry Pegula isn’t a winning owner he can’t even win Buffalo Bandits a NLL championship. Tage Thompson will be singing a different tune. What is sad is some goofy Buffalo fans will say let’s give Tage Thompson a chance to win a Stanley Cup some where else. Let’s give him away for hockey tape and be happy tanking year 20 fools. What the heck is that? We are a NHL franchise these bums need to win in Buffalo. I would do none of these bums favors you signed the contract honor it you bum. UPL I like the contract no real risk he is likely a backup goalie in the NHL to Devon Levi. If the Buffalo Sabres can’t sign Devon Levi PSE should sell the Buffalo Sabres. Because there is no excuse for that. The Buffalo Sabres bringing black and red jersey back. Better late than never the Buffalo Sabres really missed the boat on there 50th anniversary these jerseys should have been brought back than. They should be our permanent third jersey we went to a Stanley Cup in these colors. Also save me old Buffalo Sabres fans blue and gold only the Sabres only went to one Stanley Cup in them too. I am old too at 54 years old. I am good with both jersey colors blue and gold for main home, away jerseys and black and red for third alternate jersey seems good to me in my opinion. Go Sabres! BSF choice is old school Josh Allen is our Buffalo Bills punter the best athlete on the team no reason he can’t punt. The punter is a waste of a roster spot and cap space especially in today’s NFL football. I don’t even want keep a kicker either same deal. Also too many coaches we don’t need that many assistant to the assistant coaches for the Bills either no wonder we have PSL’s coming. I know someone has to get the Bills coaches coffee. Coaches were better back in the day a cigarette, the coaches got there own coffee from Mr. Coffee and football decisions were made. My goodness I miss Buffalo sports back than it was smaller we all sat together as Bills fans in a 80,000 plus football stadium no luxury boxes or PSL’s that divide fans not bring them together. Buffalo Bisons games at the old War Memorial Stadium for free or no more than $5. I want to say something else the end of minor league baseball as we know them now is coming with the players unions that means more money for tickets to the fans which will mean less fans going to the minor league ballpark which will further lessen the Bisons crowds. Buffalo fans aren’t paying $1,000 PSL’s for the Bills nor are Bisons fans paying $40 to $50 a ticket to go to a game either. These oh give the players more where do you think the owners are going to pass the extra costs too? Think I know that is hard for some fans. I am saying the end of sports as we know is coming. Sports are in a dangerous times the owners are going from a working class blue collar fans business model to a professional upper class white collar fans business model we will see how turns out? Going union for minor league baseball is going to cost more cities baseball teams and cities are going to be holding the bag with a baseball stadium with no baseball team in it if the city isn’t able to attain a Independent baseball team that doesn’t fall under MLB union model good luck. Remember minor leagues were never really affected by player strikes at the major league level now we will be. Buffalo might end up in the American Association again that is back as a Independent Baseball League this time with teams like the Chicago Dogs, Milwaukee Milkman and Kansas City Monarchs. You try out for the team and they have other real jobs like the Buffalo Bandits NLL players. Minor league baseball the IL isn’t like the NFL or NHL with unlimited television money. I hope I am wrong about everything but the costs are going up. Also the Buffalo fan that justifies everything no matter what the costs well BSF just watch on television or streaming well that is going up to but notice our income isn’t keeping up with these sports leagues players money desires and owners public money for stadium fantasies in my opinion. I am sure it will be soon if they want to break ground and have the stadium open in 2026 Buffalo Bills football season. I am not a fan of many of the choices that where made for the new Bills stadium but what is done is done. I think the big part of the Bills stadium show is the natural grass decision in Buffalo in a snow belt good luck get your popcorn ready. I wonder how long the NFL owners will let that go on with PSE wanting natural grass if it is anything like Bills football at War Memorial Stadium? Even UB Bulls football who home season ends the weekend after Thanksgiving got rid of grass at UB Stadium years ago it is expensive to maintain and it is Buffalo for artificial playing surface. It isn’t just the snow it is the rain we get and lack of natural sunshine in the winter Buffalo doesn’t do grass in the winter well. To me this is like playing baseball in Houston with a open air stadium full time. The old Houston Colt .45’s before they changed their name to Houston Astros played in a open air stadium in Houston. It wasn’t just the heat why Houston Astros don’t play outside in the summer time it was a bug paradise in the old Houston Colt .45 stadium read your sports history learn from it. There are reasons why something isn’t done in one place or the other sports wise. I think PSE is shortsighted playing on natural grass in a Buffalo snow belt hope I am wrong in my opinion. Go Bills! In ten years at the end of the Josh Allen era yes I believe the new Bills stadium will be potentially domed unfortunately it won’t change the location Orchard Park that has next to zero growth potential. But the future stadium going Bills fan is going to most likely want to not freeze or get any type of weather environment on them. That is assuming the new Bills stadium is even viable in 10 years in Orchard Park because who knows? I wish the Buffalo Bills the best because I am Buffalo Bills fan but this new Bills stadium doesn’t really excite me personally as a Bills fan because the location is wrong and no dome again good luck. I like the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bisons downtown set up with Canalside and the future neighborhood going to be built there. That is Buffalo future thinking long term not this shortsighted mess again in Orchard Park. I never liked Highmark Stadium because it was single sport with a few concerts use that lacked any type of excitement beyond the tailgate lots. Highmark stadium was scaled down from the dome it was suppose to be with Major League Baseball team for Buffalo so it was never a stadium that was great it was like the HSBC tower downtown and the Niagara Falls Convention Center urban renewal done shortsighted and poorly planned. Niagara Falls Convention Center should have been double the size for the Buffalo Braves NBA as the main tenant not Niagara Purple Eagles basketball. If that happened the Buffalo Braves NBA might have survived in Western New York remember no Toronto Blue Jays or Toronto Raptors we missed the boat on so many things like always just shortsighted and failure. Again tailgating isn’t really special I tailgate at UB Stadium every week for the UB Bulls football team what the Bills have tailgate wise is way overrated it isn’t special I can tailgate at UB Stadium. Speaking of UB stadium is another stadium that needs TLC like getting rid of the track and a new scoreboard again shortsighted nothing from WNY and NYS leaders just a joke. So no I am not Buffalo fan saying our leaders are wonderful we have a new Bills stadium that serves nothing but the Bills it isn’t a WNY community benefit it should be unfortunately. The Buffalo Bills didn’t invent tailgating. I get it we are poor in WNY with bad economic growth forever be proud tailgating outside in Orchard Park with nothing else beyond that which is ridiculous. Again even that new Bills stadium built at UB Amherst serves WNY more than Orchard Park because the university can use the stadium so it wouldn’t have been just a Bills stadium. We are forever shortsighted again in WNY there is nothing the Buffalo Bills are announcing with the new Bills stadium that is better than Key Bank Center Sahlen’s Field setup with Canalside. One can tailgate anywhere people tailgated at Sahlen’s Field for taste of country concert. The oh you can’t tailgate only in a Orchard Park stadium parking lot is ridiculous and embarrassing that shortsighted ness opinion is even a thing in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

The New York Jets the only thing fixing them is a move back to New York City area or Long Island preferred where the Jets fan base is for the most part. To get out of the New York Giants stadium in New Jersey that area for the most part is Giants not the Jets area. Plus would you rather say you are from New York or you are from New Jersey. That is the way it looks which is fine we have retro Buffalo Bills uniforms already for years that our Buffalo Bills actually won two championships in the AFL with the standing Red Buffalo logo. I am more concerned as a Bills fan about PSE getting potentially goofy when the new Bills stadium opens in 2026 with total different Buffalo Bills look uniforms like the Los Angeles Rams uniforms at Sofi stadium or the New England Patriots with there new stadium at the time. I doubt Mac Jones is ever going to be good enough it is like saying QB Frank Reich has made improvement and is better arm strength wise than Jim Kelly it just isn’t going to happen. Frank Reich was limited as a starting QB same deal with Mac Jones he is never going to be better than Josh Allen QB wise it is called talent ceiling. I don’t care about the Chicago Bears uniforms anyway they should put the actual Bear head logo they use on there helmets over the Chicago C. No on blue helmets that reminds of UB Bulls football that the Buffalo Bills would be copying. Again I am a UB Bulls fan but that is for them we are the Bills stay in our own team identity. Stay with the white helmets. If anything I would like to see the white helmets with the red standing Buffalo more than once a year. I would like to reverse it the current white helmets with the charging Buffalo once or twice a year and the white helmets with the standing red Buffalo as the Bills permanent helmet. Especially if the Bills are going to play on grass again go to the standing red Buffalo like our grass field War Memorial Stadium days. I wasn’t a fan of the red helmets because Fergy couldn’t see back in the day the other AFC East teams defenders and I am still not a fan we lost 4 Super Bowls in those red helmets they don’t bring back good memories we lost Super Bowls and they represent a lot of failure disappointment but if the Bills play some games in them that is fine. But I am old and I don’t consider the red helmets heritage or classic Bills helmets the white helmets with the red standing Buffalo is the Bills classic look. Go with the white helmets with standing red Buffalo we won two AFL championships in those helmets in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo One last point point when the new Bills stadium opens with grass field I would like to see like the War Memorial Stadium painting of the grass in the 1960’s Bills designs they had tiny Buffalo’s or different Bills word markings in the end zones on there highlight films you can see different Buffalo Bills designs markings in the end zones that the Bills would switch up so it wasn’t always the same design. Go Bills!

As a Buffalo Bills fan I hope PSL’s workout for the Bills. But I have my doubts that 60,000 Bills fans are going to hand PSE $1,000 plus dollars for a right to buy a Bills season ticket. I am a Buffalo Bills fan but why would I give PSE $1,000 plus for PSL’s. That PSL money buys me Buffalo Bisons season tickets for two years. UB Bulls football and UB men’s and women’s basketball season tickets combine for 4 years of sports entertainment. Just saying $1,000 plus for just the PSL isn’t a small ask by PSE. Like I said the answer is no for me just on the other Buffalo options sports entertainment wise that are better deals that I also enjoy for my sports entertainment dollars in my opinion. Go Bills! As a Buffalo Bills fan I don’t get New York Giants fan. That look isn’t classic historical Giants. Sure they won Super Bowls but they also won with there historical uniforms. From what I call the Frank Gifford New York Giants era with Lower class ny with gray pants and red numbers is classic Giants look. Buffalo had this look for years. The 1970’s Buffalo’s Royal Blue at times looked darker to me but the Bills had that look longer than the Giants. And last I don’t care what helmets the Bills wear either red or white helmets just win the Super Bowl. I realized long ago as a Buffalo sports fan I don’t care what our Buffalo sports teams wear. I watched my Buffalo Bisons in Disco floor uniforms, Star Wars uniforms, Hawaiian uniforms you name it and I didn’t care I just wanted the Bisons to win the game like always. You get use to it you really don’t notice if you are into the game itself. The only Buffalo sports teams uniforms I really had a issue with was the UB Bulls uniforms with a awful paragraph as a logo with New York Bulls because it slighted Buffalo in small letters under New York. Also I felt New York State wasn’t funding UB athletics like a state flagship should so until they paid up with facilities to get UB to the Big Ten Conference no New York Bulls until New York State earned it by financial backing UB athletics like every other state school so it was complicated my feelings on that. Plus the logo was awful a paragraph other than that I never had a issue with Buffalo uniforms in my opinion. Go Bills! Go Bisons! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

Maurice Linquist is on the hot seat he needs to get UB bowl eligibility or he should be fired. He torn down a back to back UB Bulls bowl teams. Drove off a lot of our star players under Lance Leipold. I think Maurice Linquist is a good recruiter but his in game decisions making are horrible. UB Bulls Offensive Coordinator Shane Montgomery I don’t even get why he wasn’t let go last year the UB offense was a disaster. I don’t think Rutgers QB Cole Snyder is the answer at QB from what I see so UB QB is a major weakness? After Maurice Linquist drove our back to back starting QB Kyle Vantrease away to Georgia in the Sun Belt Conference. I question a lot of what is going on there with Maurice Linquist this is a make or break year for Maurice Linquist in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo
