Buffalo Super Fan

I think the Buffalo Bills are going to play a lot of early home games because parking is going to be a problem once the new Buffalo Bills stadium breaks ground this spring. So I am thinking that the Bills will want to get as many home games as possible out of the way before winter plays a part too. So I would look for a lot of road games at the end of the season. I also wonder if the Buffalo Bills make the playoffs if the Bills even host a playoff game or instead neutral site game? Look at Sofi Stadium and the new Los Angeles Clippers arena going up in Ingewood? It’s a mess I don’t think things are going to run as smoothly as the Buffalo Bills think? The reality is that the Buffalo Bills don’t know? The Bills hope things will run smoothly with traffic and parking with construction every where. The Buffalo Bills should have played in Cleveland or Pittsburgh until this new Bills stadium was built what a potential mess in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

Yes but Generation X goes back to the 1960’s. I am Generation X born in 1967. So there is a huge difference time wise. I had no cable until 1980 because the cable systems weren’t all built out in the Buffalo suburbs yet. I grew up in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence which was a rural dairy farm town when I was real small going to the local dairy store for ice cream. Anyway in Clarence Buffalo International Cable stoped at Transit Road. My parents our color television was heavy wood furniture looking through a fish bowl 25 inches screen we got local Buffalo WGR TV2, WBEN TV4, WKBW TV7, WNED PBS TV17, WUTV TV29 then the Canadian Toronto channels CBC TV5, CTV TV9, Hamilton CHCH TV 11 that was about it along with CBC TV25 French language which carried Montreal Canadians games if you used aluminum foil on the antennas and pointed it towards the window so we could see the Buffalo Sabres Montreal Canadians game not picked up locally in Buffalo on television. I watched the 1980 Buffalo Sabres home games against the New York Islanders in playoffs on CBC French TV25 because we didn’t get cable until July or August of that summer and there was only local free television for all the away Buffalo Sabres playoff games except if it was a series decider than local Buffalo television would pick it up like 1979 Game 3 at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins George Ferguson overtime winner in the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium Saturday afternoon. Game 2 away was shown but Game 1 at home was radio only. I watched it a couple of years ago Game 1 off a Penguins game televised in Pittsburgh that a Penguins fan put on YouTube. What? Exactly we have differences between the generations on many things the Buffalo we grew up in is very different which is fine but there are a lot of differences. I saw Buffalo before the decline Millennials didn’t so they don’t have that reference point to compare unfortunately because if they did maybe just maybe they wouldn’t be so happy with no dome on new Bills stadium and our Western New York and New York State elites selling Buffalo out which is very sad oh well what is done is done. But don’t say BSF didn’t try to point that out. I am proud my generation Generation X we along with the baby boomers were able to bring back Buffalo Bisons to Buffalo and bringing back UB Bulls as a major college football program again those are two of the things as a Buffalo sports fan I am most proud of. Regrets I have a few I wish we able to save Buffalo Memorial Auditorium like Seattle Kraken did with Settle Center instead of Buffalo Sabres Key Bank Center that is just not a good viewing facility for college basketball at all and it’s not a great anything viewing wise from the cheap seats. Again I blame my generation for that we own that Baby Boomers and Generation X. We don’t own the new Bills stadium we were wiser on that Millennials will get the blame for that 50 year generational mistake. Buffalo would be better doming the current Highmark stadium fixing the upper deck with a dome that would serve all fans needs better so yes we are making the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium mistake again but at least this time my generation is wise to it. I don’t think viewing will be better than Highmark it will be worse because Highmark Stadium was grandfathered for fire codes. News flash surprise the Bills new Bills stadium viewing experience won’t be as good as current Highmark Stadium. I take no blame on new Buffalo Bills stadium that is on the millennials and there expensive technology while we older Bills fans freeze in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

I am fine with the Buffalo Bills signing Eric Kendricks but for no more than 2 years because he is 31 years old in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

We all know how I feel as a Buffalonian and a Buffalo Bills fan. Also it isn’t a personal thing with Sean McDermott he can stay whatever but with the Bills coaching job comes with critics. Boston a 25 year old Boston sports fan has seen championships in all four majors. Next year is year 49 as a Buffalo sports fan and a Bills fan. This city of Buffalo never won a National undisputed championship in the four majors in the pros or college. The Bills AFL champion is disputed by the NFL champions no Super Bowl back in 1964 and 1965. The Bills the 1990’s, Sabres 1975, 1999 and Bonnies 1970 came oh so close but they didn’t win a national championship for Buffalo. Give BSF any thing Bills, Sabres, Bulls, Bonnies, Griffs or Purple Eagles a undisputed National Championship for Buffalo. It is beyond ridiculous the amount of failure for our Buffalo area sports teams. There are way too many in Buffalo give Ralph Krueger and tanking a chance in this town. Yes sports comes with failure but that doesn’t mean keeping the same coach hoping and wishing. Sean McDermott will be fired by the Buffalo Bills at some point. So if I was the Bills I would trade Sean McDermott for draft picks while his stock is still high around the NFL media and fans. I think Sean McDermott has reached his ceiling as a Bills coach let’s find a willing team to trade Sean McDermott too before the Bills have to fire him and end up with nothing compensation wise in my opinion. UB Bulls football is one of the better MAC football schools now and they beat Rutgers. UB football problems were they didn’t have the facilities they have or are building now for football. I don’t think Rutgers would dominate the MAC. Would Rutgers get more Bowl opportunities in the MAC then the loaded Big Ten Conference yes but not the money or the television prestige that they have now. Which hurts the Syracuse Orange same deal they give up the winning, bowl opportunities and winning in the MAC for the ACC television money. I can’t stand Syracuse newsflash Syracuse fans they aren’t a Western New York school the Big 4 or Little Three are Canisius, St Bonaventure, Niagara with the Big 4 UB added. With Syracuse it goes back to Little Three days Canisius, St Bonaventure and Niagara for me as a Buffalo fan. But the reality Syracuse isn’t ever playing UB Bulls again in football unless they are forced to by a bowl game. Because the reality UB has passed Syracuse football with what UB has invested in football. When was the last time Syracuse won a bowl game? UB has won three bowls out of 4 years. Rutgers wouldn’t get the Big Ten recruits in the MAC. Nor would Syracuse get the ACC recruits in the MAC. So it’s apples and oranges but yes Rutgers, Syracuse belong in the MAC neither one of these schools are any better in football than UB is today. Syracuse can’t even dominate UB Bulls basketball much anymore that is why Jim Boeheim said he is never playing UB basketball again something about trash talking? Retire Jim Boeheim your too old to coach anymore. And Syracuse basketball have some pride and play St Bonaventure Bonnies at Reilly Center or Key Bank Center take your pick a bunch of chickens that is what Syracuse Orange basketball should be called Syracuse Chickens. Agreed I didn’t even listen to Howard Simon’s goodbye show because I haven’t listened to local radio in years because it’s old news. I saw every game now live so I don’t have to have a reporter eyes as my set of eyes through newspapers, television reporters or radio. I don’t see any of these ever being relevant again because of the technology. That is why I think the owners of these properties are basically buying a company that used to be big like horse and buggies before cars. I am fine with MLB NL and AL games having a pitch clock the Buffalo Bisons IL had it and it does speed up the baseball games. I don’t have a problem with the shift hit where they aren’t seems pretty simple to make the shift useless. But I do have a problem with runner automatically at second base in extra innings because it changes a rule that historically baseball didn’t have before and baseball is about history. So I am not a fan of that at all it’s too gimmicky in my opinion. Go Bisons! Go Yankees! Let’s Go Buffalo

BSF favorite streams, ESPN+ I get all our UB Bulls college football and basketball games of the Big 4 UB, St Bonaventure, Canisius and Niagara basketball they are archived so I never miss a game if they are on at the same time just for that it’s worth it no more radio games only. Buffalo Bandits, Buffalo Beauts and Buffalo Sabres. MILB tv stream for all the Buffalo Bisons games so I am covered. The Buffalo Bills, Sabres and New York Yankees are on Cable television where I catch my Los Angeles Clippers when they are on television which is a lot late night. BSF is good I get all the games. That is why I say does it really matter anymore what city a team plays in if these teams are pricing out working class fans in cities like Buffalo? Television is the key today that is why the NHL is talking about Atlanta again for a third time to expand there along with the huge Houston market because of television markets. TNT is in Atlanta. It really doesn’t matter if the seats are sold today anymore they make the money on television and selling merchandise in the cities that the teams are located in my opinion. Go Bills! Go Sabres! Tom Barrasso went from high school graduation in June to starting Buffalo Sabres starting goalie in October. Ken Dryden went from Cornell Big Red to the Montreal Canadians leading them to the Stanley Cup. Jim Craig Olympic hero right to the Atlanta Flames NHL, Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars. Tons of guys went to the WHA from college and high school. The NHL was smaller so the WHA and NHL equal the 32 NHL teams of today as a fan of both leagues growing up seeing both. The NHL has a goalie shortage the Buffalo Sabres are going to have to promise Devon Levi a roster spot like Owen Power and Rasmus Dahlin or he isn’t coming out. The Buffalo Sabres fans are in a fantasy world to think this kid is riding a bus in Rochester is ridiculous. Devon Levi is going to be in Buffalo he is better than both Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power. I don’t care where Devon Levi was drafted Jack Eichel was drafted to be a franchise player and plays like a second line hockey player because he was overrated overhyped and over drafted. Devon Levi was the opposite under drafted. Draft position means zero it is what is he now. You can’t teach the quickness this kid has. I saw UPL tonight he had flashes of greatness tonight against the Boston Bruins but he gives up too many rebounds and the bottom line UPL folded tonight and he doesn’t win you big must have games. Devon Levi is the opposite wins big games in the clutch he will be the starting number one goalie next season if UPL and Eric Comrie are the only two other starting goalie choices for the Buffalo Sabres in my opinion. The Buffalo Sabres better have a guarantee Devon Levi will sign with the Sabres or this Erik Portillo trade with the Los Angeles Kings is a disaster. Also Buffalo Sabres fans wake up no college hockey goalie highly regarded today is going to the minors like Rochester Americans. Ryan Miller times were different there are more NHL teams and not enough starting goalies no goalie any good is going to minors. It’s like asking Josh Allen to play for the XFL ridiculous. That is all the Buffalo Sabres have to offer a big league salary and position. Forget UPL he is a backup goalie in the NHL. This had nothing to do with competition why Portillo didn’t sign with Buffalo this had to do with Buffalo and the Buffalo Sabres old school philosophy of holding players earnings down playing in the minors because Terry Pegula is cheap. $18 million dollars under the NHL salary cap I don’t want to hear about the Sabres can’t sign Devon Levi and trading for draft picks forever. That was a bad loss by the Buffalo Sabres at home last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Also the Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers trade. The Chicago Blackhawks are a large market team they should never rebuild. Patrick Kane wanted out because of the rebuild that should never have happened. The Chicago Blackhawks got ripped off like the Buffalo Sabres always were before Kevyn Adams took over. Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles along with New York Islanders should never rebuild. The New York Rangers aren’t winning a Stanley Cup this season but you got to be in the playoffs for a chance to win it. That is why the Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula is a bum as a sports owner trading off his complete Sabres team for a chance Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel that was completely idiotic. Sacrificing 11 years to get back to where we were before trading Ryan Miller in the hunt for a NHL playoff spot. Face it the Knox Brothers were smarter doing the New York Rangers way of always making the playoffs for a chance at the Stanley Cup then that bum Terry Pegula that some Buffalo fans want to alway give Terry Pegula a pass. We had no chance for 11 years ridiculous just like the current Chicago Blackhawks the son Rocky Wertiz is getting cheap like his father “Dollar Bill” Bill Wirtiz in his old age in my opinion. Or when Loblaws, Twin Fair, Grants, Woolworth, Kmart, Sears, JC Penny, Bells, Super Duper, A&P, Red Barn, Long John Silver, Henry’s, all the local Drive in movie theaters, Hills, Ames, Big E, Buffalo Savings, Marine Midland Banks, Child World, Kaybee, Play and Learn, Merry Go Round, Chess King, Sample, Kleinhan’s, AM&A’s, Hen’s and Kelly to name a few. But nothing to see here go to bed old man BSF you don’t know what you are talking about? Buffalo is happening today better than ever from some Buffalo people today because I heard it parroted on television or on my cellphone it must be true. If you say something that isn’t true long enough you start believe something that isn’t reality of any truth. Until more Buffalo people recognize there is a problem with growth of business which creates jobs which creates population growth we can’t fix the problems of Western New York. But we got a $1.4 billion dollar new Buffalo Bills stadium in Orchard Park, a $1 billion dollar tunnel for Kennington Expressway, a Ferris wheel and carousel at Canalside and don’t forget Shark Girl Buffalo is happening don’t you know BSF? Exactly but not all Buffalonians there is some of us that stayed in Buffalo trying to change the mindset of take anything we can get while the rest of America is getting nice projects without corners being cut or doing a project just because we have to but not really putting any effort or thought into the new Bills stadium project just whatever at least we have the Buffalo Bills. Too much of that mindset still exists in Buffalo unfortunately. This new Buffalo Bills Stadium is the Bass Pro of Orchard Park a bad project from the start instead of taking the opportunity sure there will be some pain negotiating with downtown land owners but doing the football stadium project right instead of the same cheapest easiest, fastest way possible. Getting the federal government dollars to fix the outdated infrastructure in downtown Buffalo so our future generations have progress instead of more of the same nonsense Buffalo suburban sprawl with old infrastructure not ever getting address. Then when we do the same old Buffalo business and political leaders nonsense and get the same results people will complain but then it’s too late for another 50 years in a never ending cycle just going around in circles. It isn’t too late until construction work starts. The Buffalo Bills organization is doing a disservice to the Buffalo community not listening to the community just rushing this big money project through because the Buffalo Bills say so is ridiculous. Trust the Buffalo Bills, business and politicians we can’t do Buffalo and we can’t do Niagara Falls we can only do Orchard Park? But the rest of the country can do downtown but not Buffalo? Buffalo should be following Minneapolis St Paul and Indianapolis not this nonsense. I am old I tell like it is with no excuses for failure. What if Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott isn’t capable of improving anymore that he is at his ceiling as a head coach. Wanting to and actually doing are two different things? Sean McDermott is basically Aaron Boone the New York Yankees manager talented contender roster not capable of winning the big one. Would I rather have Sean McDermott and Aaron Boone coaching my teams or Lou Saban and Billy Martin? Both Lou and Billy had there issues wearing out their welcome with owners but they could coach. I am old school give me Lou Saban and Billy Martin winners that get the very best out of the teams they coached. Both Lou Saban and Billy Martin worked for George Steinbrenner he knew how to conduct team business as a sports team owner his son Hal Steinbrenner is lacking and so is Terry Pegula bum greedy bums not all that interested in winning like George Steinbrenner was. Yes because of Lou Saban and Billy Martin’s issues they wear out there welcome but they could coach and you could sleep at night as a fan knowing there teams were well prepared. Sean McDermott and Aaron Boone are corporate politically correct yes coaches that suck as head coaches we aren’t winning anything with these two bums let’s stop being political correct and tell it like it is like Howard Cosell. Typical Buffalo sports fans picking out players and teams that lost failing at the end of the day. None of these Buffalo professional teams and players should be on the top Buffalo list not a one. On the list sure yes but the top of the list no. BSF top pick the 1993 MILL Buffalo Bandits John Tavares, Jim Veltman he won a ton of championships in Toronto one of the single worst decisions ever by a Buffalo sports team to not protect Jim Veltman when he went on a mission overseas for a year or something it was ridiculous Buffalo got nothing compensation wise we would have all those Toronto Rock championships there should be 10 plus championships up in the rafters and the Kilgour Brothers Darris and Rich. If that happened 10 plus championships there wouldn’t be debate the Buffalo Bandits are the greatest professional franchise in the history of Buffalo sports. I don’t care from the critics if the Buffalo Bandits players make $500 or $1,000 a game they are professional athletes. The 1992 MILL Buffalo Bandits won their first championship my first professional as a Buffalo sports fan as a winner but the 1993 Buffalo Bandits team was the best ever in the history of Buffalo sports not much debate they didn’t lose a single game and the streak went on for like two years undefeated. Honorable mentions 1994 RHI Roller Hockey Buffalo Stampede Murphy Cup champions Buffalo’s last professional hockey championship of any kind. John Vecchiarelli, Alex Hicks, Nick Vitucci and John Hendy that scored the game winner past Portland Rage goalie Lance Carlson the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium went nuts great game I was at. 1996 MILL Buffalo Bandits and the 2008 NLL Buffalo Bandits. Then we have the minors Buffalo Baseball Bisons Jeff Manto American Association 1997 that team was better than 1998 they won the IL Governors Cup champions but lost the first Triple A World Series in Las Vegas to the New Orleans Zephyrs so I would rank 1997 higher than 1998 and 2004 IL Governors Cup champions no triple a World Series series was held in 2004 Brandon Phillips was the star on that Bisons team in my opinion. Are you going to be saying that when Buffalo, Western New York continues to fall further behind the country to a point that Western New York can no longer house NFL football and NHL hockey? Because Western New York made poor economic decisions and never corrected the poor economic decisions from the past because it was too hard? Think about that I am old 55 years old but this generational project decision isn’t any better than the last time it’s the exact same decision made. Again this doesn’t affect me the Buffalo Bills are here for 15 years ironclad so I am 70 plus years old when the Buffalo Bills can option out of the new Buffalo Bills stadium and it simply won’t matter anymore when I am real old. The younger generation is going to be affected by this generational stadium mistake again like my generation was by elders at the time. Bottom line the Buffalo Bills offensive line isn’t good enough. It was very obvious during this years Super Bowl no way does our offensive line match up with neither one of those Super Bowl teams Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles in my opinion. The Buffalo Bills wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl regardless of QB Josh Allen elbow. One superstar player isn’t going to win Buffalo our first undisputed National Championship we have seen this pattern play out of the past 50 plus years of Buffalo sports college and professional. We saw that with the Bonnies Bob Lanier, the Sabres Gilbert Perrault, the Braves Bob McAdoo, the Bills Jim Kelly, the Sabres Dominik Hasek now the Bills Josh Allen. See the theme Buffalo sports teams relying on one superstar player and then if something happens like a injury the Buffalo sports team is done in regards of winning a undisputed National Championship because our Buffalo teams lack depth. We don’t have well round Buffalo sports teams we rely on one superstar than we get let down when something like a injury or one play happens that cost Buffalo a championship. Our Buffalo sports teams are too thin with not enough depth that does Buffalo sports teams in. Not Buffalo sports teams bad luck or the team is curse or Buffalo is curse why we lose. I would trade my 1st and 2nd round picks to go Blue Light special Kmart bargain shopping looking for NFL Draft bargains that don’t cost a lot of money to sign saving cap space. Trade down for more draft capital we have a lot of roster spots that need to be filled on the Buffalo Bills roster is what I would personally do. I want to bring in 10 new drafted Buffalo Bills players if possible just to compete for Bills roster spots. BSF like Bill Belichick does? Yes getting value and seeing what you can work with. Forget about the trading up trade down for the bargains. Unless a Buffalo Bills fan is afraid that Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott don’t know what they are doing? I don’t see why not as a Bills fan I am told by a lot of Bills fans and media that Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott are the greatest so let’s see some of that so called greatness in my opinion. As a Buffalo Bills fan I am not interested in Robert Woods he made his decision long ago where his loyalties are with the Los Angeles Rams and it wasn’t with the Buffalo Bills. Robert Woods chose to leave Buffalo via free agency he wasn’t traded where he had no choice Robert Woods himself rejected the Buffalo Bills. So Robert Woods doesn’t want to be in Buffalo as a player and that is fine good luck to the young man except against the Buffalo Bills of course. But you can’t win Super Bowls with football players that don’t want to be here and are washed up. I disagree this Buffalo Sabres team should be a NHL playoff team this season. This well the Buffalo Sabres aren’t a playoff team? Ok how long are Buffalo Sabres fans making these excuses? This is a brutal Sabres schedule down the stretch, our goaltending, our injuries, it been a rough year in Buffalo? Again and it isn’t a rough year in other communities? Yet some how they rise above to win Buffalo isn’t any different. If it was such a rough year in Buffalo explain how the UB Bulls won a bowl game, the Buffalo Bandits went to the NLL finals and the Buffalo Bills won the AFC East Division yet it is too tough for the Buffalo Sabres to rise above it? Why are the Buffalo Sabres any different? Expansion teams Buffalo Bandits MILL indoor lacrosse and Buffalo Stampede RHI roller hockey won championships there first season and there players were far from multi millionaires like the Buffalo Sabres? I am not asking anything unreasonable the Sabres making the playoffs half the teams make the NHL playoffs in hockey. Face it some Buffalo Sabres fans not this one give the Buffalo Sabres excuses for losing forever. That isn’t acceptable nor understandable anymore. So Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens are adult enough to sign a Buffalo Sabres NHL contract extension but just kids when the Buffalo Sabres lose? Which is it you can’t have it both ways Sabres fans with the forever excuses. If the Buffalo Sabres want to be treated like kids then they should be paid like kids? My point zero excuses anymore for the Buffalo Sabres. We are way beyond the excuses for the Buffalo Sabres. That Buffalo Sabres game was pathetic last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs the Buffalo Sabres took two periods off and decided to play in the third period in the hockey games garbage time not acceptable. Again this is a NHL team not Buffalo State Bengals Division 3 NCAA hockey with friends and family attending games as Buffalo State Bengals hockey fans. I don’t make excuses for that disgrace on Main Street Division I basketball that I am alum of Canisius College my Griffs basketball team is pure garbage and Reggie Witherspoon needs to be fired. So if I have a bar of expectations for Griffs basketball win the MAAC. I certainly have expectations for the Buffalo Sabres that players are multi millionaire players. To the Buffalo Sabres team do your job for the entire game and for my Griffs for the love of college basketball fire Reggie Witherspoon in my opinion. Go Sabres! Go Griffs! Let’s Go Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres have a big game Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sabres need this game to get points it is most likely going to be mostly Toronto Maple Leafs fans in attendance. Let’s get the Sabres win and send the Leafs fans home unhappy again in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

Disagree I think Devon Levi is going to play a lot sooner than Buffalo Sabres fans realize. Don Edwards and Bob Sauve were Devon Levi age playing in the NHL as starters. The Buffalo Sabres have major goaltending problems that is most likely costing the Buffalo Sabres a playoff spot this season unfortunately. Craig Anderson is retiring most likely. UPL and Comrie aren’t the answer in the Buffalo Sabres net. I expect Devon Levi is the opening night starter for the Buffalo Sabres in 2023-24 if Devon Levi decides to turn professional. Devon Levi isn’t riding the bus to no where in Rochester. If the Buffalo Sabres don’t have a roster spot guaranteed in Buffalo next season he isn’t coming out it will be back to Northeastern Huskies until he can walk as a free agent. Bob Sauve was on the Buffalo Sabres roster before Don Edwards by a year because Bob Sauve wasn’t going to sign with Buffalo Sabres unless given a roster spot because of the WHA at the time where he was a high draft pick I believe. Nobody super talented hockey player wise is riding a bus in Rochester it is ridiculous that so many Sabres fans think that is even a possibility. Owen Power got a Buffalo Sabres roster spot guaranteed same with Devon Levi that is better and more important position than Owen Power. Buffalo Sabres fans don’t get the Sabres aren’t in the drivers seat few free agents want to come to Buffalo in a 32 team NHL today. The Buffalo Sabres are between 25 to 32 NHL teams you would like to play for. For Buffalo it is NHL what we offer a major league pay check. Devon Levi isn’t leaving Boston for Rochester riding a bus on minor league money and food money the thought is ridiculous. We need to be realistic Devon Levi on the 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres roster or no Devon Levi ever. If the Buffalo Sabres don’t sign Devon Levi this spring it isn’t happening he will go back to school and sign elsewhere NHL team wise if we don’t sign him this spring in my opinion. Go Sabres!
