Harrison Phillips to Vikings, 3 year 19.5 million
dollars 2 donuts replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
@Sherlock Holmes I'm with you, Sherlock, I am. I also remember the lonely times when only a few of us were on the beach of "Keep Milano Island" until last season when you couldn't even find a place to sit in the sun anymore and the bar line went on forever. Yes, he is a great guy, but even forget about that because his metrics for what he meant to the defense were starting to get ridiculous and it showed. His "high tide" was raising all ships upfront and in the middle of the Bills D and even outside of Buffalo it was getting noticed. However, I do hope next season this leads them to resigning Oliver, but I really could have lived with those two being together for awhile here. -
No Saint, you may be right, but I will say I absolutely don't see him going there for Fitzpatrick 2010/11 money of 11-12 million per. Didn't someone say if it is over $15 million our comp pick becomes a 3rd rounder? Sorry that I don't have the deets.

BF4, a solid take. Yes, it doesn't change anything for this year, the last year of Allen's lower cap amount (which is perfect for super bowl runs), but a really good point, brother. I knew that, but hadn't considered it.

Cutting all this dead weight to give us 30-40 million dollars to play with in free agency. ...oh wait, that's not what this is about. We are just plain a cash strapped team and we are trying to clear space and make some difficult decisions to keep some of our own guys and maybe sign one or two free agents. I adore this team, but the Bills glasses some around here have been wearing have been a bit unreasonable...and blurry. We are going to be fine, but again I'll state our 2021, especially as it jelled just before the playoffs, was a great team, top to bottom, and a potential world championship roster, save for the fact (which was a big one and played a big part in our season) that one of the best DBs in the league was out.* * Honestly, when he went down in New Orleans I thought that was going to be the thing that would stop this team from going all the way. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, depending upon how you look at it, but it was so huge.

Are We Setting Ourselves Up For Disappointment?
dollars 2 donuts replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
It will be sign the current Bills as necessary and then it will be 1, maybe 2 guys in FA that matter. Difference makers? Meh, but they will add to the team. I just don’t understand how some think the cap is nothing, but then don’t consider that not everybody we are letting go of falls under the category of “away with you! You displease us!”. Some of those guys have to go because we don’t have the cap space and it is not like a ton of space was freed up. Of course They can make more moves, but not enough to make such a remarkable splash that they can go after anybody in the market. -
How about a Free Agent Guard? Titans release Saffold

Please, SG. Why would he flirt with going to the defending AFC Champions who have more than 50 million dollars in cap space when he can be low or middle balled to come to Buffalo? -
Seahawks going after Deshaun Watson

Big day in deed. How much is riding on this for this guy? I'd be crazy stressed out if I were him. He should go out and get a nice relaxing massa... ...he should do some yoga.- 98 replies

Absolutely concur. The thing is, Hap, that wasn’t my main point, though. It was tied to the my earlier post of this not being easy and we won’t be as talented this year. I’m not down on the team at all, but there are a few of cuts coming and not a ton of cap space to fill the holes, along with having to re-sign some of our own talent. sal or someone tweeted Dodson will be able to back up both Edmunds and Milano, but you know what was also good? Having Klein and Dodson. That’s why matching this coming year’s talent with last year’s is going to be tough and not necessarily a reasonable expectation.

Agreed that it had to be done. I don't wholeheartedly disagree with your second point, but I do disagree, if for no other reason than we are going to lose more guys, experienced with our system, than we are going to get through the door. This isn't a one for one, every time. Even getting rid of Klein, a player who was a reasonably dependable asset, we are still not under the cap, and we still have to replace him. We also know it is pretty darn likely we are not replacing him for another 5 million dollar LB, especially when we have other holes and and we have to resign some other assets for good money. We are likely going to lose Cole, but maybe we keep Isiah who may cost what we were paying Cole. This year we had both of them, two assets, but in 2022 we will have just one and not much additional cap space from it, if any.

And yes, HUDS, agree completely with the above, especially with the belief that it had to be done. We need to be able to do things and trimming has to be done. Somebody's going to get a pretty good guy, though.

Again, for those who think this is going to be easy: 1) We are only going to be able to sign so many guys in FA; and 2) We are going to have to let go of a number of good players and I just am having a problem thinking that even with the additions this team could be better in 2022, top to bottom, than they were by the time they put it all together in 2021.

When I read it, I thought to myself, "and so it begins." We should go out to lunch some time as we have a lot in common. I'll let you pay.

Agree, War. A blanket statement assuming that we are just as stupid as the average NFL fans. We are not geniuses by any stretch, but we are smart enough to understand the long term stability of the franchise, and our front office is also not that stupid. Does someone need proof of this with respect to our front office not being short sighted? Josh Rosen is not the starting QB for this team.

Trubisky -- where does he end up?
dollars 2 donuts replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll say it again, Indy isn't the worst spot for him to land. -
Is it wrong that I don't adore the red helmets as much as many do around here? Asking for friend. Crap, I used "I" didn't I? OK, I'm asking for me...although color rush red with red helmets = badass.

Derek Carr in line for $40 million per year extension
dollars 2 donuts replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fixed. I know, I know, rushing to judgment on my part, but when you get the 13th, 14th, 15th alleger...I'm thinking there is something there there. But I know what you meant, BB, just stressing the point. -
Aaron Donald may retire if Rams win SB?
dollars 2 donuts replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I missed where someone specifically referenced how much money he is set to make as a commentator or in other pursuits, then I am sorry. However, he is set to make 14 plus million dollars next year, and 19 million more the year after. If he walks away now he is a HoF...but a HoF that nobody is going to pay if he needed for some reason to comeback at 35 to play. If he enjoys it and they still are paying him what he feels he deserves then there is no reason for him to stop. These guys have only so many years to be able to do this and truly set themselves to not have to worry about anything more for them or their families. ...but when its over it is over. -
Education provided by Alpha. Thank you, my friend, I did not know that. In my only defense I didn't know that the gathering was just for Cali/LA artists. I really paid no attention to anything leading up to the SB after...the thing that happened in KC.

You want to add 24 more Grammy noms? Then Missy Elliott should have been there. Annoying that her place in music history from that generation gets pushed to the side.

Just saying... Jim Schwartz is out there looking for DC job
dollars 2 donuts replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of us whistling past the graveyard over the season, but honestly...yeah, I believe R96 is unfortunately correct. My thing is I hope Beane and Company realize it and do something about it and not pull a (with all do respect) Polian and Levy and go through 4 Super Bowl years with, for example, an undersized nose tackle. When Theodore "The Slender" came in a couple of years later it changed the prowl of our D for the next half decade.
