Side trivia:
In their 33 year history the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have NEVER played a regular season game in Buffalo.
It seems like there's a chance that streak could continue.

I hope you took it in fun. I wasn't trying to be an ass. (Though I do come across as one often!!)
Oh, nucci, I definitely did, brother.
It's all good!
-
Great call!! The Jets need a QB and Cutler wants out of Denver. You should be a writer.
Thanks, nucci, considering the day I am having I really needed that.
Now back to me just plain being an idiot.

hmmm, I believe one of us saw this coming a week and half ago.

I liked Jennings alot and hated to see him go, but I have to disagree with you guys, and it is just based upon the numbers.
Jennings has played 23 out of a possible 64 games in San Fran, and although McCargo is essentially only a warm body on the roster I am not a big fan of paying OT for 5.75 games a year.
...that would just be a little too frustrating.
-
I think he may have made $500,000 per year with the Gamblers.
His first Bills deal was five years, 7.5 million total...which made him the highest paid player in the NFL in 1986.
Then I believe somewhere during the 90 season he was resigned for 3 million dollars a year, or so.
Sorry I don't have much to back that up, but that is what I remember.

I hope for the best for him, but I don't see him being 'issue free' from his 22nd year to his 25th year. Probation also means routine unannounced drug and alchol screening and reporting all his activities. If he 'forgets' something he did/attended and it comes to light, it's a violation of parole. Then there's the paparazzi/ill-willers who'll be watching him to see if he slips up.
Just don't see him pulling this off successfully..
Yup, I agree with the OP and with Chandler.
This is a whole different ball game than someone having a "brush" with the law. Now, he is just plain under the microscope and I hate to say this but I'm worried about him even having legal troubles from his 22nd year to his 23rd year.

I grabbed some guy- you know, he don't know if he wants to buy, I pushed his face right in the f*cking hood, I said, 'You buy this f*ckin car or I'll break your f*ckin head.'
GET BRETT WEIR I SAID!!!!!
Aww, ya see, we already got a problem.
Best. Jerky Boys. Bit. Ever.

The fact that this guy was a class act on his way out should surprise no Bills fan. I have a feel wide receivers going up against N.O. next season are going to be pretty annoyed by this "no name" CB.
-
Congrats, Jabari, and good luck.
As a Bills fan I thank you for the effort you brought in your time here. New Orleans will not be disappointed.
-
Not when you're making multi millions a year. It's his fault he never learned what a condom is and it's cost him.
To be honest with you, SD, you are right on about that.
God bless children, they are a gift, but come on. It did not have to come to this, because he is not just wrecking his life now, he is wrecking the life of innocent children.
What a dill weed.

And I mean that sincerely.
I am not knocking the Bills for not signing him and I am not knocking him for leaving.
He's a good guy and good player who made it in a league he almost wasn't supposed to be in and sometime over the next day or so he is going to cash in.
So good luck and congratulations.

I admit that I'm a sucker for these types of articles, but I thought this was a great read:
Tremendous, Bagel.
Thank you.

Why do the Bills not run a 3-4 defense. Many of the elite teams in the NFL/AFC run the 3-4. I know you have to have the right personnel as well as a coach to run this but if you look at it many of the playoff teams or teams that were on the brink of playoffs run this defense. For instance, Ravens, Patriots, Steelers, Bears, Dallas, San Diego and I am sure there are more. Looking at all of those teams I have just listed most if not all have fantastic defenses. It seems to me that the Cover 2 is a dying defense. It was great when first introduce in Tampa and quickly was adopted by many teams. On this subject as well I feel that the Bills adopted this defensive strategy way to late compared to the other teams. Now that this type of defense is in decline i feel it is imperative that the Bills find a niche that will work for them on defense. This defense is all over the place as far as sometimes they show up and play extremely well and sometimes they are god awful and there seems to be no in between. In my opinion I feel like a change needs to happen to the defense in order to stay with the times. That is my two cents take it for what its worth.
Sorry, UBT, I did not even read your post. I did not have to...I hate the cover 2 defense, so I am right there with you. I know personnel is important but holy makerol I am done with this Tampa 2, just go back to the 3-4 and enough already.

If the Bills win, they will be 1-1 in the division, which would be the same as the Patriots. They would have a better AFC record (only 1 loss) compared to the Patriots's record (2 or 3 losses). No matter what the Patriots do against the Colts, the Bills will be in front of the Patriots on tiebreakers if the Bills beat the Jets.
arkady, you are right.
I brain farted. sorry. Corrected.

Jesus, 28 years ago and I can still see it in my mind's eye without having to watch the video. (I was 11.)
Given new life, Fouts hit Ron Smith with a 50-yarder. Game, set, match.
We'd have won that game, broken ankle or no.
Then of course you have to ask yourself if we'd have gone to the SB in 1981 if Fergy knew how to tell time.
Me too.
...formative years and it is burned into our minds.

Porn.
Ask a silly question get an answer that's...well, really...kinda dead on.

Madden is anything but a sim. Why do people keep posting this crap like its relevant? Crappy arcade game. Who gives a crap.
The Bills are playing the Dolphins this weekend. Madden 09 is the most recent edition of a popular series. So they simulated this weekends game.
hmmm, I'll stick with what I said.
EDIT: A simulated game means there are not actually players going against each other. The CPU takes over for playing both sides. The term in the game is, or the option that comes up is "do you want to sim the game?"
-
I really like Madden 09; and the Bills were a great team to use, even upon the release of the game (regardless of being an 82, you had a good runner, good receiver, and a stout defense).
However, I want to comeback to reality in looking at the numbers from the sim game.
Do we REALLY think Edwards is going to go 16-26 against the Dolphins defense...in nice weather?
Do we REALLY think that Pennington, against a top 10 defense, is going to light them up for 23-29?
Yeah, sorry, I am just not going to worry about this sim.

What's up Buffadorks? Enjoying the snow?
Just wanted to drop in and say that you crazily deluded fans are in for a BIG letdown this Sunday. The Dolphins do not lose on their home turf, nobody comes into our house and beats us, especially the worst team probably in the NFL's history.
It's really funny how everybody here is acting like they just won the lottery cuz of a 5-1 start. Just pathetic. But when you have 0 superbowls, gotta take success where you can get it huh?
I know you're going to reply about the Dolphins 2-4 record but anybody who REALLY knows football (aka not you guys and not the "experts") knows that the Fins are one of a very few favorites to win the Superbowl this year.
But I'll lay off now, I know how bad it must suck to live in Buffalo, bad weather, two awful teams who have never won anything.
Can't wait for Sunday.
We so badly needed this. Thank you finsfan.

Good topic and an outstanding performance by Fergy. But the real killer is that we win that game if Charley Romes doesn't drop a sure interception that Fouts put right in his gut on the play before the winning TD pass. That was my first real taste of of feeling our Buffalo teams being snakebit. The play I am speaking of is at 7:30 of the video here.
Why, cpa, why?
I had forgotten all about that and it really could have just stayed in the haze of my memory. Why did you bring it up?

Of all the heart-breaking losses the Bills have suffered through the years, this one ranks right up there for me at the top with the Super Bowl loss to the Giants. I remember hating the tie-breaker system. We beat them head-to-head and finished with identical records, yet WE had to go THERE for the playoff game because other tie-breakers took precedence. The other loss that still stings is the loss to Cleveland in the playoffs. There are many others, but I always remember these 3 as games we SHOULD HAVE won.
I'm with ya and I hear ya, chazz.
BTW, I remember that being the "Year of 11-5" San Diego 11-5, Buffalo 11-5, Cleveland 11-5, Oakland 11-5 and I think even Houston...you guessed it, was 11-5.
