  1. I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Stanford's academic standards might put their alum at little more than holders of "joke degrees". I know what you're getting at, but I have a feeling a guy like Luck is really interested in his degree, even though he is an NFL QB offspring.
  2. Agree...what does this guy have, 5-6 TDs in the last 3 games. No his not great and no he is not the future and maybe you do play brohm at some point. However, if it is Fitzy for the rest of the year I am fine with that and I am also fine with signing him up for the next couple of years to be a brief starter and then back-up to our QB of the future.
  3. Thank you, aj. I'm with you on this. I almost dread coming in here and it doesn't have to do with the board members...it has to do with how bad this team is and finding out more about how bad this team is and how down most everyone pretty much is about it.
  4. Last year T.O. had 55 grabs for 800+ yards on a Bills team that was horrible, with QBs being even worse. I have no problem with him leaving and it was best for both he and the team that he did move on. ...and my problem wasn't even with any members of this board who wanted him gone. My problem was with those in the national (and local) media that said he was washed up. Again, I actually thought he played well and produced a decent amount on a team that was as bad as the Bills were, statistically. I told a friend of mine in Cincy that Owen's wasn't washed up and probably was going to be good for 70 grabs and 900+ yards. Well, currently (and I know he had a big game over the weekend that skews it) he has 24 grabs for 374 yards, 1 TD and is tied for 11th in number of receptions and 5th in yards. The Bengals top 2 receivers have 47 grabs between them. Sorry that it is not Bills related. Just an FYI.
  5. Yes, he is a hands down Hall of Famer with gas still left in the tank. Great move by the Vikes.
  6. wow, is right
  7. I tried to say this a few times on this Board but I keep getting the brush off...which hurts, b/c my ego needs stroking. : I want a QB and we need a QB, but most DEFINITELY, via free agency most likely, you'd better show that shiny new first overall pick that you have a LT and RT to protect him, b/c otherwise, this isn't going to work out so well. As a matter of fact, if I were that potential first overall pick I would be telling the Bills, "Show me the Tackles or you better look someplace else." It is great to earn the top dollar right out of the gate, but I would sacrifice it in a heart beat if it meant jeopardizing my career either through impaired development or risk of personal injury. I don't think OJ really enjoyed being an offensive decoy the first 3 years of his career.
  8. Why would you even think that, Finkle, when Marty has absolutely no record of turning teams around. He didn't do it for the Browns...oh wait, yes he did. Well, he didn't do it for the Chiefs...oh wait. Well for damn sure he didn't do it for the Chargers because they...oh.
  9. Man, I can't believe I got that reference. EDIT: and to prove it I believe we are talking about Frank and Ceasar, right?
  10. Ozy, I am not. I saying this for the first time in my life...I think we ARE the worst team in the NFL. Jags may be bottom five talent, but they are putting up Ws. Now, so are the Browns. As far as the other unvictorious/ Please. San Fran is so close to being a 2-2 team it must be sickening for them. Detroit is the same.
  11. No BF, and therein lies the rub - that is why (i think) that the NFL doesn't want players to be able to comeback during the season while on IR, b/c you could potentially stockpile players. Oh, you'd still have to cut somebody when they came back, but you could at least test it out, and I have a star player go on IR for 3-4 weeks without any real consequences. Note: That is also why the Bills could still have a 53 man roster but have about 20 guys on IR last year...b/c it doesn't count on your roster.
  12. Maybe you keep a roster spot open for 12 weeks of the season for Ray Lewis and Brian Cushing, but man, you don't do it to save a spot for Mitchell. I don't think there was any other play on this once he got hurt, unless they could have cut him right then.
  13. OK, that made me laugh.
  14. I agree with all of it: He'll start in a month, he is not a good QB and the jags QB situation is bad enough that he will be given a shot. Nothing real controversial there and it doesn't mean the Bills made a bad decision.
  15. I'm sorry if it sounds like ageism, but a 91 year old man should not be running an almost billion dollar corporation anywhere on this Earth, let alone WNY.
  16. If I were to give anymore info...53 times the jets have lost to the Bills. Just a little more info so jets fans can feel better about themselves when they travel to Orchard Park this weekend and their QB pisses his pants, like he has done in 50% of his games against the Bills...the Bills beat the jets during their Super Bowl year. Do I also have to bring up the fact that the jets have never beaten us in the playoffs? Naw, I'll save that one.
  17. And if they don't get that, then the jig is up, they all go home. The NFL Owners could sit forever and the only ones it really hurts are the players. They have to go back to the table at that point. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, sandy. I'm just sayin'
  18. He goes from 0 dollars a week to about $22,000 or so week per game. Assuming the rookie minimum is about $355,000. ...yeah, he takes that.
  19. Oldest player in the NFL (46) at the time of retirement. Good-bye George. WOW, check that, 49!
  20. I did not know that, Ozy, thank you. Additionally, you're a jerk for setting up Dr. Manhatten the way you did. jk - non Watchman will not know.
  21. Or, it may change next year, which means if Luck really wants to cash in, he should come out in 2011.
  22. Have no fear, matter2003, we are just good enough now to be entertaining, but just bad enough to assure us a top 3 overall draft pick.
  23. Most of the posters responses in this thread are as sad as the team they are supposedly fans of, so no big surprise there. We get what we deserve. markinsd, it is not right, even for a team that gets laughed at. Who would we have retaliate? That is the beauty of it, since most of our guys aren't what we'd describe as "great" losing one of them by reason of ejection would be acceptable. Should the guy injure Matthews? No. Should he beat the **** out of him in front of his home field fans with a late hit that drops him to the turf like a cheerleader after the play and slap him around like a little b****...hell yes. They are not very good, but they are MY team and that is embarrassing. GO BILLS!
