  1. I understand the concern many have with him getting older...I do. I know full well at some point he may have a precipitous drop off in production. I also get that he had a serious injury that hampered him in 2012, and has been "dinged" since, and I am not looking to break the bank with him. Additionally, as the BN article stated today many RBs reach their peak at 27 years old. ...the darn thing is that since turning 28 the guy has 951 carries for 4,256 yards and 25 TDs to go with 197 receptions for 1,632 yards and six additional TDs for a total of 5,888 yards and 31 TDs in essentially four and half season. If he keeps that average going this year I am willing to gamble, what in NFL terms is a pittance, on at least another year or two.
  2. ...what do you do with him in 2015? Let's just say all things are equal, meaning the Bills have a 3rd RB who is good, but not quite there yet and they DO resign CJ for 3-4 million per year (his hypo: 250 carries, 1125 yards 4 rushing TDs but better receiving numbers). Do you look to the 2015 draft for a middle round replacement RB to be the #2 (or 1B) (which we may do this year anyways) or do you extend him an offer? I'd give him 2 years, 4.5 million with one million guaranteed (or bonus) with a total for 2015 of no less than 2 million. I think even one year further down the road, even though he has lost some steps, he gives you something that is not easily replaced. ...just a side discussion here waiting around for next Thursday. GO BILLS!
  3. Well, if we can get him and Zack Martin in the same draft we can call them the T-Rex Twins.
  4. I predict at least one of your guys gets picked by the Bills (not a big stretch, huh? ) More specifically, Tuitt, Turner or Van Noy.
  5. M2003, I didn't even want to bring that up...guys calling talk radio that had grown up going to games with their dads and it was just all coming to an end. Yes, grown men on the radio crying and it wasn't even remotely embarrassing. I don't know why I kept listening as it was just so gut wrenching. Paraphrasing one guy (and I can never get this out of my head) "we're losing our team and why are we just sitting around talking about it like it is just another sports story...my God, we're losing our team and I feel so powerless...there is nothing we can do about it...and I just can't even talk anymore..." Welling up as he hung up the phone.
  6. Not it cannot, and I for one (but hopefully not just one) hope for a flood of similar articles, even if they are insanely redundant.
  7. I was going to school in Ohio when the news broke that the Browns were leaving Cleveland. It was bad, bad, bad. It was surreal and I truly felt horrible for the fans of the Browns, whom have grown on me over the years. No fan should have to go through that.
  8. BTW, FT, i am in agreement with you. Although I referenced Watkins and Mack I really have no desire to trade up in this draft. I am confident this group can get 3 starters for 2014 with their first three draft picks.
  9. Fro crying out loud, if we were to trade up to that spot I would try and get Mack or Watkins and take my chances in the third round on an OT, or keep my fingers crossed that Hairston comes back without the questions marks.
  10. I like him in those rounds, as well. However, I really wanted to get Russell Wilson in the 3rd or 4th round a couple of years ago and the Bills did like him. Translations: if the Bills do like Murray I wouldn't necessarily hold my breathe in thinking he's going to be there in the 5th...maybe not even in the 4th. If they do really like his skill set, then get him.
  11. Even if they don't work out something the children take ownership of the Bruins, it is kind of tough to turn down that lucrative NFL TV money. I don't care if they were called the Boston Dollars 2 Donuts with a picture of me on the jersey...I'm ditching them and counting the money.
  12. Look, I love the idea of getting a WR or TE when we pick in the first round. However, if I can draft a RT that I can just plug in and say I'll see ya in 4-5 years when its time for your next contract, then I'll take that. I'll take that all day long. If they truly and convincingly believe they can get another Cordy Glenn for RT in the 2nd round, sure then, have fun in the first on something else. I just don't want to hear phrases like "has great potential to improve" or "should work his way into the starting line-up during his rookie year" at all with respect to our RT draft pick.
  13. I liked his chances of going to the Bills more than Mack's. He is either going to be a mid to late round pick or a FA pick-up. The NCAA's 12th leading rusher this year will probably not become a star in the NFL, but he is a bruising little fire plug between the tackles with quicks...not trmendous top speed, but quicks.
  14. When I do question it I try to think of the Ohio State game. I just can't shake that 2 sack and interception return for a TD from my head. I don't blame anyone for harboring such concerns, o20, but man the guy's body of work is just the complete package. He can get sacks, tackle for losses, force fumbles, track down runners, cover receivers and intercept passes...and he's a physical specimen. If he can make all of that work, even just to a lesser degree, then he'll be something special for some team. However, I wouldn't trade up to get him, but that's just really because I believe the Bills still need all the picks they can get.
  15. Yungmack and Yolo, I think your right. Injuries must have been a concern. It is a shame, because when he was last healthy I thought he was pretty good with decent upside. ...not pro-bowl upside, but still solid play.
  16. I really would like to know the real reason on why they didn't try harder to keep Carrington.
  17. This. Also, I became more interested in teams that I previously didn't like or even care about (yes, even the Dolphins) after they appeared on this show. The fear of doing this is ridiculous and cowardly. This sort of exposure for one of the NFL's inconsequential teams would be a benefit and pretty damn interesting. Don't get me wrong, I love everybody's updates from camp...but this would be even better.
  18. Off topic: Dean, I just notice your avatar with Jim and Hunter Kelly for the first time just now and it hit me...and in a moment I almost started crying right there and then. My wife and I are expecting our first and seeing Hunter there so small, so innocent with his father who is going through his own pain...it just sort of hit me hard and all at once. Sorry for veering off, guys. I just had to acknowledge it.
  19. Yeah, GL you just 1, 2 and 3 punched this and I'm buying what you are selling. ...not interested. Best of luck to the kid, but not interested.
  20. I know, right. Man, Nuch, it is amazing how some of us think as fans. "We just got someone good, so by all means let's get rid of someone good and while we're at let's not go after someone who may be even better."
  21. I love the trade as I stated before, but I really don't see giving up on an opportunity to pick Evans and putting all your eggs in the Mike Williams and Stevie Johnson baskets. Honestly, I truly just don't see how that is a good strategy. Does it really feel like it to most of you? Get Evans, have a killer wr group this year and see how it plays out, meanwhile follow up in the draft with a RT in the second and a TE in the third. 4th, 5th and 7th being a db, lb and rb, in any order.
  22. I don't think this should automatically preclude a Mike Evans pick at all, unless he is just plain gone by the time we pick. Williams is a legitimate receiver in this league (190 rec, 2700 yds, and 24 TDs in his first three years) and his contract is very cap friendly even with Johnson and a potential first round WR pick. The issue don't arise now , but after 2014 when Johnson and Williams' contracts get substantial larger. I love the trade and I don't necessarily believe it has to imply a change in supposed direction on draft day...well, draft - day 1.
  23. I like the direction TT was going in as he started this thread and I like even more RM's idea above. If either were a reality I would end up doing it.
  24. The question: is Sully going to stare at the ground and shuffle his feet when he talks about teams having money to sign big name players like Byrd as Graham, a pretty dang big piece of the Saints puzzle, walks out the door? ...and please don't tell me that they got good value for him, because I will concede that. However, essentially Ebron from Graham is a pretty big stretch at this point. I think Brees is awesome and a future hall of famer. However, I think the Saints are pretenders, just out of reach from making it even back to the Super Bowl for the remainder of Brees' career. Would I like us to be such a pretender? Sure, but we don't also have Brees.
