I’ll say this for the umpteenth time. Next season he’s 35+.  How man mid to late 30’s dudes are there making an impact in this league.  He’s washed and we’re stuck with his boat anchor contract.

Next year is the last year, PayDay.  It is not ideal if he doesn't come around, but he is still a guy they have to keep an eye and and it is fairly painless to get rid of him after year 3.

That was funny donuts.  Not sure the ethics of dropping shorts and turn to the right and cough will make it unless in the tent.  😂

All,kidding aside, Jeremy and Joe were discussing the topic Friday morning.  Jeremy made a good point, there are already professional flag football players on highly competitive leagues.  They are better suited than some nfl guys to play that sport.  I coached it with my sons for years along with youth football. The tactics are very different.

Besides it’s disrespectful to the flag guys to just discard them for the nfl guys.

I might be in the minority, but although I’d never substitute real football for flag, it is fun to play, coach and watch.  There’s a lot of strategy in coaching flag.  It’s very different than tackle ball.  The similarity though is it’s a lot like chess.  You keep trying to outthink you’re opposing coach and deploy you’re resources to keep opening holes.

    @NoHuddleKelly12

Guns, I agree and no lie I am down with not only flag football, but Olympic flag football.

Huds knows my one and only angle was to please him comedically with my response.

Hell, I will watch almost anything if it is competitive and played by people who know what they are doing.

Do a search for videos of pro dart tournaments.  Holy mackerel it’s nuts.  Good stuff.

And yeah, it is very different and I am not sure how much nfl guys actually add, if anything.

At the very small rural school I attended in western Pa growing up, we played flag football in place of "real football" for cost and enrollment reasons, and it was still a ton of fun. Emphasis on speed, longer developing passing routes (hardly any pass rush usually) and barely any running game to speak of. I'd definitely want to watch this in the olympics, but agree with others upthread that it's not apples to apples that the NFL guys would automatically be the best flag players as well.

In my hometown we had flag pediatricians.

Hyde’s contract is up after this year.  It’s unlikely we extend him at his age.  AJE knows he has been erratic until the Jags game.  He’ll have to settle in on a reasonable contract.

As far as Adams, I don’t see it happening given the cap hit next year, but D. Hop is on a team going nowhere and his impact would be minimal.  It’s possible the Titans may be comfortable with that trade.

Seven years here.  Him and Poyer and although I hope this isn't the case they may walk out of here without even a super bowl appearance.

That's what possibly stinks. That's what doesn't seem right.

Coughlin was 5-2 against him including two SB victories which all took place during Brady's prime.  I just remember those teams not trying to outsmart the Patriots (very simple game plans on both sides of the ball) and just winning in the trenches.  Vrabel and McDaniels are a combined 5-1 against him using similar philosophies.

    Thank you, Doc.

My question would be how many coaches have went against Billichick more than 10 times?

Sure, but that seems to be the standard bearer for career charting against another coach.

Truthfully, I don’t even know if there is anyone that has played him five times even has a winning record against him.

Could still state he is one of the future coaches with a winning record against him, counting out those that have played him nay a couple of times.

  7. You know what's cool?

Sweep the Pats this season and McD becomes the first and only coach in NFL history to have a winning record against BB in 10 or more games (8-7).

Josh is already 6-5* against him in starts.

(* 6-4 in games he has started and finished)

The Bills can and should beat the Patriots, but make no mistake...it's going to be a much harder slog if there isn't strong pressure and run defense up the middle.  Bill Belicheck is aware that we have two inexperienced linebackers, and he will be doing his best to fool them.

Please forgive me, B-Dubs, but I believe you have misspelled, "Bill Belicheck is aware that we have two agile, fast and bright linebackers who have clearly learned how to swim and whom Bills fans now refer to as The Swarm."

    It happens.

    Go Bills!

One of the following is true:

    A)  The Bills have good weapons on offense, but Ken Dorsey is unable to properly utilize anyone except for Stefon Diggs.

    B)  The Bills have good weapons on offense, but Josh Allen doesn't trust throwing to anyone except for Stefon Diggs.

    C)  The Bills don't have good enough weapons on offense.

    D) A and C  ( I had to add that because you only allowed for 1 of the following to be true.  😁)

Sometimes Josh trusts throwing to others almost to a fault.  On top of that if he only trusted DIggs then Diggs honestly would have 10 or so grabs every game.

    A) isn't all Dorsey, because Josh probably (maybe?) needs to see things a little better, but  some of that is up to Dorsey to help him and his receivers.

No, James Lofton was still a really good player, but he was not a true #1 by that time, he just wasn't. The Bills got him when he was 33 years old.

He did have one really good year when it is arguable he played like a #1 with us. The other three it just is not.

His four years here he put up 166, 712, 1072 and 786 yards. Even at the time, except for that one year, those were good solid #2 numbers.

Generally speaking if you want to get two #1s, the way to do it is to suck and get a nice high draft pick when you've already got one #1 on your team. There are certainly exceptions, but overall that's the way to go about it. Most true #1s are high draft picks.

Now, name a team with two #1s who have won a Super Bowl in the last few years.

    The 2022 Chiefs? Nope.

    The 2021 Rams? Nope.

    The 2020 Bucs? Nope.

The 2019 Chiefs? Nope. Hill missed a lot of games and racked up 860 and was still far better than their #2 WR, Sammy W.

The 2006 Colts, definitely. Where is another team since then?

What you more often see is a really excellent QB making up for not having two #1s by spreading it around, and including TEs and RBs and #2s and #3s.

He is not agreeing with you at all.

Ah, thank you, Mango. You put it far better and more succinctly than I did.

I didn't say Lofton was a number 1 anywhere or at anytime in my post.

I said he was a future Hall of Famer.

More specifically, even as you stated, he was a #2.  Yes. And that is what we are looking for.

Oh, it's feasible.  So then what should be the obvious question is why hasn't it happened?

    Your last sentence is key.

But we don't seem to be willing to point the fingers at the core causes for the problems and issues.

PB, come on brother.  You know...YOU KNOW that would be  just a whole other thread!  😂

    I absolutely agree, my friend.

In a perfect world should DK Metcalf be on this team, taking the draft spot of Cody Ford in that draft, and retaining Wyatt Teller?

Yeah, but the world is not perfect.

What WR do you care about on KC? Do they even have 1? Are you claiming they aren't a SB contender?

    Yeah on this, too.

Here's the thing, as well, if someone came to me if I were the GM and said, "Would you trade Allen for Mahomes, straight up?" I would honestly say "No" and that would be for various reasons.

However, I would immediately follow it up with (and I love, Josh) "Give me Mahomes and Andy Reid and I will sign the paperwork right now."

They also lived in a time without a Salary Cap or "Real" Free Agency.

The only way that makes sense in today's world to do that is via drafting a WR and having rookie wage scale for 4 years and then letting them go when they reach year 5(if they aren't a #1 pick that has a 5th year option), or possibly picking up a 5th year option.

Bills will need to probably pick one in the first round next year if they want someone who legitimately can fill that role and might have to move up to do so.  Or trade for one again, but that's unlikely since they are already paying Diggs big money...Eagles were able to do it since they had Devonta Smith on a rookie deal and had no big $ allocated to WR at the time. Same with Dolphins trading for Hill while Waddle was on a rookie deal.

Cincy has it because Burrow got hurt and they lucked out for a year and were able to draft 3rd and get Chase after having Higgins.  However, they already have let Higgins people know they have no plans to resign him so he will be leaving after this year.

The only teams with 2 high paid WR's are the Chargers(how's that look now that Williams is out for the year?) and the Bucs with Evans and Godwin...and they aren't great either.

BT, I did not hate your first post to me.  I was just responding to it.

However, your post above?  I agree.

    Really good post.

Very few teams have #2 WRs that teams specifically care about so that eliminates 90% of the teams in the NFL.  Some don't even have a #1 WR that you worry about...like how delusional are people that they actually believe this should be the standard?

Thanks, BT, because essentially you're agreeing with me.

You're just comfortable with explaining it away as not being feasible.

Me...I'd like to be in the 10%.  I don't want my team to be the standard.  I want them to be the exception, or at least see what the air is like over there to judge and not potentially waste a generational talent at QB.

You see I lived through a time that was pretty successful with this team when there were two future Hall of Famers at WR. Those Bills apologize to you, wholeheartedly, for not being standard.

  15.

Gabe Davis' success isn't solely, but in my opinion is primarily, based on two things:  teams forgetting about him on a play, and/or teams not really concerned about him on a play.

In his career he has made a couple of ridiculous...and I mean RIDICULOUS toe-drag-swag receptions, but it is not the norm.  The same goes for his success or lack there of on contested passes or getting open.

What do I want or what am I looking for even just in a #2 receiver?  Two things:  Does the # 2 concern the Defense enough that they have to specifically plan for him, potentially causing decision issues on D between the 1 and the 2, and secondly if the #1 (heaven forbid) goes down for a period of time can you count on the #2 to be the Man?

So, respectfully, if you are sitting there thinking in all honesty, "Oh man, what is that D going to do?!  They have to worry about Diggs AND Davis!" or knock on wood you find yourself saying in the future, "OK, Gabe, This is you. The rock is yours, take us up.  You can do it!", then there is nothing to worry about and we are all set.*

(* If you think this you are the first person on planet earth who has thought this, or you are lying, because nobody has thought this before and no one believes it.  Doesn't mean I don't like him.  I just don't agree with attributes or laurels that are being thrown his way as a 2, or at one point in time people thought of as 1B.)

3 years ago when I wanted to do this, to add to the Haku's with the another divisional rival, other than my attempt it was crickets from you guys.

Yes, the style of poem I picked was Villanelle which consists of 19 lines lines, in the form of five tercets and a closing quatrain, wherein the tercets follow the rhyme scheme ABA, while the quatrain’s rhyme scheme is ABAA and has the first line repeating in lines 6, 12, and 18 of the poem, while the third line repeats in lines 9, 15, and 19.

It would have been fun and merriment for all, but nooooooo, that's too much for all of you guys.  You all want to stick with your "roses are red, violets are blue, those are the Bills' colors and I like them too!" garbage.
