Man, who'd o' thunk it in August: Goodwin with an 8 figure deal, with 8 figures guaranteed and Jordan Matthews wondering where he is going to end up and (speculation here) whether anyone is going to sign him for more than a 1 year, 5 million dollar tryout. It is along the lines of just making the call now: Cadet will get a 4 year, 20 million dollar deal that's considered a steal while Shady is waiting with baited breathe for free agency to start.

In your hindsight, 2017: go all out to win, or tank?
dollars 2 donuts replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree, to an extent. I would go all out to win, but also right now I'd be trying to figure out which defensive player to get with our only first round pick, which is OK as I would just be planning on getting a receiver later on in this draft for Watson. -
Please let this mock be our draft

Luscious. Simply luscious. Did I mention this is luscious? If some of you guys are right and so very sure that Price will be ready to go come the fall, I would live with 56 being BP from OSU, as well...don't jump all over me, as some of you were trying hard to convince me in another thread that he is too good to pass up in the 2nd and that he will be ready. -
Rumor: L.Jackson 2nd QB on Bills Board

Who is better, Rudolph or Jackson? Honestly asking. -
Pats releasing Martellus Bennett

Their failers in roster management never get mentioned other than on this board. Please let Brady retire or get old soon to expose these great-quarterback-band-aid wearing frauds. -
What is Cordy Glen's trade value?
dollars 2 donuts replied to Bills Freak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If his base is $9.25 million and he comes back healthy in the early part of the season is his trade salary for the season based upon the percentage of his base or are his other considerations for the season that have already been paid to the point part of the figure? I only ask because if he isn't in the Bills' plans, even when healthy, but shows he's back I wonder if you could get a 2nd for him, during the season, from a team in need. Especially considering his cap hit starts to go down a couple of million after this year. -
Why did no one to take the time to mention to me that Darnold has turned the ball over 42 times in 27 games?! WTH is wrong with you guys?! Seriously, I did not know that until 5 minutes ago. Someone here mentioned earlier this week that he is a turnover machine (the "ten foot pole" thread), but i didn't pay attention to it.

However the draft is deep with DTs. I wouldn't necessarily call it burning a pick if we get one of them. I would like to see us go after FAs we need at positions that are soft in the draft. What are those positions? Damned if I know to be sure, but it seems like it is light on varying LB positions, as well as OTs TEs, WR to a degree and OL, in general save for a few.

This is what bothers me about this draft. I think teams that are possible trading partners with us LOVE certain guys and don't want to give up the spot. Whether true or just playing us, if we want to move up it is going to cost us probably more than we think this year. ...more and more I am thinking we may stay put and take the second tier of QBs.

My opinion has changed a bit even from earlier this morning, CB. I've known about the upside with Darnold and that there is a little bit of work necessary there. However, more I've heard and read makes it appear that he really should sit a year if he is your guy. The thing is will McCarron take the deal? If he can prove something in Cleveland and get the dollars it opens the door for him someplace else, maybe after year 2.
-
Side note: the Browns aren't getting McCarron AND a top QB draft pick. You don't get a likely three year 45 million dollar insurance policy (even if you have the cap room) for a guy you expect to start no later than week 4-6. Get Barkley at 1, get your 1-of-3 QB at 4 and get Fitzy or someone else for 3-6 million.

Full discloure, I picked Mayfield, but also like Rosen. That said, man, if Barkley goes number 1 and the Giants say they are set with Eli the opportunity for a boat load of picks will be hard for the G Men to pass up because teams will most likely want that shot at Darnold (due to the fact that he checks many boxes and there don't appear to be any "issues").

Browns and 49ers have 236 and 233 million in cap space

Not at at all Mark, just in relation to the cap it's someone you have to pay and account for, even if he was on your team previously. -

Indeed, and I am looking forward to it. However, we'll also have new holes to fill, like Incognito, Benjamin and I believe Alexander and Groy, just to name a few. -

We are ninth in total cap space, if I counted correctly. seems like we should be better than middle of the cap in overall cap space, but I get it with our dead cap space. -
Billy Price Undergoes Surgery on His Torn Pec
dollars 2 donuts replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Respectfully Kirby I don't think he fits that mold, because I am not just going to make the assumption that because surgery went ok that everything is hunky-dory with this guy and we'll see you come preseason. I blink because if there are complications he is either not playing this year or he doesn't end up with a career. The thing that you are saying is OK is the thing that I'm saying I don't want to risk. If this front office values picks so much (especially the ones that are expected to produce right away as starters and regular contributors) I don't want them making decisions in the "hopes" or "all indications are" that this guy "should" be alright come the fall...all the while making this decision in 50 or so days...EDIT...when the other thread dealing with his injury let us know that he isn't even really going to be able to physically stress test that pec until after the draft. #1A, #1B, #2A, #2B I virtually want to pencil in as starters. I'll take him in the 3rd, but even there I am a little uncomfortable...but I respect you and want to make you happy. -

I love the kid and hope he comes back healthy. However, those first four-five picks (or whatever they end being if we move around the board) MUST be year one contributors, and not just guys who get on the field. -
...and after signing cousins they still will have only just a few million dollars last cap space than we do. Such perfect timing for the Vikings, Cousins and Viking fans. I agree so 100%, KJ: not great but good enough, for them. EDIT: additionally, and in a way, I hope this makes some of you who wanted Cousins feel better. This is just plain out of our fiscal league right now.

I respectfully disagree. As I and others have mentioned before the only time you need to get a RB is when you need to get a RB. You don't need to groom them and although I don't believe they are a dime a dozen half way decent ones are easy to get. If Shady and Ivory fall off this year, get one next year. We just don't need one to be "right there" just in case.
