  1. Great post and really great second paragraph. just to clarify, though, if you comments is based upon my OP I was referring to the fact that the salary cap is based upon league revenue (47% I believe right now?). I would also have the league come a little more clean on providing their revenue, which has been an issue in the best. The reason for lowering it is due to the new optics that these dollars would become a little more actual as to what is getting paid out, as opposed to just being accounted for. In the new era of doing it the contract likely would have been different, maybe as some have suggested here. Lower and shorter to make a player's actions more in play. For example: 3 years at 10-12 million and maybe you get a different player.
  2. It will take forever for Madden to catch up the change in the O. ...and I am not trying to be sarcastic. As a fan it gets annoying.
  3. @greenyellowred no worries, green. Just know that everyone who has responded and who will respond in this thread, including me, are the type of Bills fans that want to know which way Allen puts on his socks for training camp practices, and if it differs between morning and afternoon practices. Dont trust th cavalier responses. They will be glued to the tvs for especially the third preseason game and they DO care, like you, that it is a national audience.
  4. Maybe I am honestly getting soft in my old age, or maybe I've seen too many documentaries and movies that show what happens to these young men's bodies and minds as they get older and I'm starting to feel guilty about what I am cheering on. And it is not like the following articles put me over the top, but they did get me thinking enough to want to write something here to get some feedback/wisdom from you guys who will likely have a greater in depth understanding than me on the subject. https://deadspin.com/why-only-the-nfl-doesnt-guarantee-contracts-1797020799 https://deadspin.com/the-football-world-cant-even-see-the-nfls-rotten-core-1827905463 ...or maybe I just want DC Tom to call me an idiot. ? Look, I don't know the ins and outs of the cap and I don't know the ins and outs of accounting. I do know that the NFL has much larger rosters, much shorter seasons and an employee base that is much more at risk to getting injured, which would ironically enough go against having a cap. I also hate the coasting that seems to go on in other sports when they get these deals. (Former Sabre Really Laimo I'm looking at you for one). ...can't it be looked at, though? All that said, what if the league lowered the players cut of the revenue to start (just hear me out), but made that lowered amount fully guaranteed. However, limit the full guarantee to all the contracts for the years a player is 30 or under. I'm not saying for contracts made before a player is 30 or under, but rather the years the players are under 30. Contracts also wouldn't be weighted, they would be on the average. Therefore if a player signs a 5 year deal at 29 years old for 40 million dollars at the very least 16 million is guaranteed, although it could be more depending upon the quality of the player. The added savings of reducing the cap, along with league revenues, could be put into a league pool, wherein if careers were ended early on (under 30) the money would be paid out and the teams could get cap relief. I know holes are going to be easily shot into the suggestions above, but I also know that even after just thinking about this briefly, SOME ideas can at least come up. I look forward to all your thoughtful comments, and even some of the other ones. ? Go Bills.
  5. Seriously, man, how valuable is that he gets at least one year in with Williams. no question mark, because it was a fact.
  6. F that. Damn, I hate training camp because of this crap. Seriously, I don't wish it on anybody.
  7. First, he will be the best, and then he will be first.
  8. Come on, this is a pretty good movie take counter to all the easy John Hughes jokes. This shows moxie, transient. Nicely done.
  9. Btw, crazy to think that 6 of the first 8 teams we play had a winning record last year, and the other two could have had a winning record if they had their starting qbs. in short, 3-5 would be something, all things considered.
  10. "77" was all I needed to see. I knew exactly what this was about. I was there. Unforgettable.
  11. I used to try and draw the Stallions logo as a kid. I loved it, and them, so much.
  12. Come on, man. This is just plain the post of the day. Amusing is good. Funny is better. I laughed out loud. EDIT: Sorry, the post of yesterday. I've been busy.
  13. eball...you are awesome. You are sarcastic, but you are awesome.
  14. OK, some of the prognosticators can choke on their 0-8 starts and their 2-14 or 3-13 season for the Bills. I also have been on the record as saying I would love them to have a great season but if they end up being between 5-11 to 7-9 I would not be too upset as I believe we are really into the second year of a three year rebuild. That said, what are you thinking if they are 3-5 at mid season? Let me add regardless of who is at QB. If they can find a way to, let's say beat Baltimore, Tennessee and the Colts (I know, a tall order as two of those are on the road), then I don't think it is insane to give up hope on a 9-7 season. Playoffs? Sorry, unlikely this year as I think the AFC this year may yield a 10-6 record for the sixth position in the playoffs, but at least they can stay in the hunt. Look, I know it is hard to sweep teams in your division, but sweep the Jets and Phins, and then add possible wins against Chicago and Detroit (teams I respect, but still the best shots we have), and you get yourself to 6 wins, with losses against the Jags and Pats. If we don't finish 9-7, if it is more like 8-8 or 7-9 I would still deem the season reasonably acceptable given the second year of a rebuild. If they are 2-6 with AJ or Nate then I agree with others along the line of you start to think about putting Allen in, if you reasonably think he can be as good as the guys who got you to 2-6. What say you?
  15. Brother, you said it there. Crazy how expensive life is.
  16. The last time we started 0-8, we finished 4-4, including a game that scared the living pis************* out of Steelers' fans when one dropped pass in the end zone at Pittsburgh (Stevie?) at the end was the only thing that kept us from finishing 5-3.
  17. OK, OK..."His and his wife Lauren."
  18. Maj, I can't believe I am typing this, but I am with Julio on this. This isn't the old days of contracts "sign and we will see you at the end", especially when the player's are as talented as Julio. It's just the way it is and in this case...I get it.
  19. He is due $12.9 million this year, including his bonus. He has made about $47 million in the first three, giving him close to the average of what is going on now for top WR. However, with this year's 12.9, it starts to pale in comparison. Honestly, I bet he is looking for something that locks him into at least 16 million per (or more), with another 30-32 (or more) million guaranteed.
  20. I respect your opinion, aristocrat. However, I feel that if they can't move the ball they will be 2-6. If they are dreadful all year, they'll finish at 5-11. That is a lousy record, but not necessarily the bottom falling out as 3-13 implies, even though it is just two games difference. The optimist in me would like to see them go no less than 7-9.
  21. I know, this is still such BS. This process was briefly streamlined for a bit due to the adjustment in rookie contracts. Now, we are still looking at a bunch of guys around the league not signed days before camp. Maybe they should just lock in the money in the future and be done with it. How long after the draft was it before Dahlin became a Buffalo Sabre? A week or two?
  22. Pegulas tied for 8th, but still only the third richest owner in our 4 team division.
  23. Dab, honestly asking...is it a fact that they commit more crimes or could it just be they are arrested by police more often? There's a difference. ...and others may, but I am not going to label you a racist.
  24. Man-o-man, cynical, they sure fooled me!
  25. When you're looking to weed out from a list of champions, yes. I disagree when it almost comes down to, in this instance: worst or questionable QB = worst team. Indy is only a slight anomaly in this. They have Luck, but he is a question mark until they see how he comes back...but the team is generally bad at everything. On paper the Bills appear to have a solid defense a year after making the playoffs (wherein they had the League's best playoff defense), but that gets them to being the 2nd worst team overall in the NFL, regardless of coaching, and a 3-13 finish for only the second time since Reagan's 2nd term? ...I'm not buying it and he shouldn't be selling it. I will reiterate, no way am I saying playoff runn. Unlikely on a winning record, too. 3-13? Preposterous.
