  1. I voted NO....However I would trade next years 1st to one of the teams with two 2nds and two 3rds....and, if there's say a Chop or QB sitting there at 28,

I'm looking to trade a couple of spots to SF for one of their compensatory 3rds and taking Legette.

    That would give us:

    31 SF

    41 GB

    60

    88 GB

    100? SF

    128

    133

6 picks through 4 rounds. This is the year for BB to really build a quality young core for the future. Worth no. 28 next year? Hell yeah!

One can argue DT is more of a need than WR as of now.

But KC went through Baltimore and SF which are 2 of the top defenses in the league.

Point being is we're not gonna beat KC with defense. We have to outscore them and the only way that happens is by giving JA17 all the weapons he needs while he's in his prime.

K.C.should have never got to Balt.  We should have won by 2 scores. The drops killed us and Bass couldn't stop turtling.

I think the only offers he's getting are 1 year prove it deals.

Just listening to BB on the radio. I'd be willing to bet we get Trey back by June 3rd for maybe  a 3rd of the money we saved post June 1st.

    ( 9 mil.) I may be wrong, I can't remember if he said 9 or 10.

    Hey, I'm all for it.

You seem to be poaching some other teams draft picks to make that happen. Sweat is early day 2 probably. Smith won't get to round 4. Latu is a first round pick. Javon Solomon probably day 2. Gonna wait and use fifth round picks on WR again, Sean?

I believe Beane will create picks. There's no way he goes from 60 to 128 sitting on his hands. This draft is huge in establishing a good solid core on both sides.

Since there are a few teams with more than one pick in rds. 2 and 3, I can see him selling next years 1st to create another 2nd and 3rd.

    Latu/Murphy  28

    Sweat   41

    Burton  60

    Walker  88

    Smith   128

I think they are comfortable with Rapp and Edwards at the safety and will likely bring in a rookie for depth and competition while Hamlin and Lewis are primary backups and special teams players. But I do think this team needs rotational DT's. The Bills usually carry 5 DT's with 4 active on game day. Right now the Bills have 2 on the roster. Campbell would be a great add he will be 38 but is actually coming off a solid season with 7 sacks and good advanced metrics. I think DT is going to have some depth added as I can't see them going into the draft needing to grab 2-3 bodies there.

I'd be stoked if they could draft Sweat and Maason Smith. Oliver, Jones, Johnson, Sweat and Smith....(who can play inside or out.)

Miller, Groot, A.J., Latu and Javon Solomon. That's 10 Dline.

Maybe later in the draft we can P.S. stash guys like Cedric Johnson and Crumedy.

I'm hoping for a shift in Defensive philosophy. ie: 4-3 base and sending a LB on every play...or a 5-2-4....and/or more line stunts. I pray that McD at some point realizes that we have to be able to play both zone and man. He's gonna have to trust those 1 on 1 match ups at some point if he wants to get pressure up front.

I really want to see some innovation and freshness to the defense, especially week to week and opponent specific.

Yes he had a neck injury prior to transfer to UCLA.  The Leighton Vander Esch saga gives me some trepidation here.

Hopefully that's why he slides within a couple of picks. 2021 missed due to neck injury and couldn't get cleared for 22. Went to UCLA and crushed it for 2 yrs.

This guy is gonna be on the ESPN a ton this year. That whole line is gonna get nasty. We need to establish a very good young core on the Dline this year!

No matter what happens in the draft, im sticking with my theory that the bills offense needs to be better than their defense. We need an offense that just scores drive after drive. We also need an offense (much like kc) that regardless how much they're down, they can come right back and win. Kc has done this since Mahomes took over. It's how they always win. As soon as a team thinks they got em, well, they don't

I for one am not worried about the offense. I'm sure Beane isn't done. Nobody can predict what he'll do at the draft. And...I'd like to mention the huge number of game changing drops last season, including the last game played.  2 sources of those are gone. Cook will get better catching hopefully and I won't post the replay off the Diggs drop. F..in brutal

We should have beat K.C. by 2 scores. We need to hope we hit on Impact type of DL players. If McD wants to try to stick to rush 4, he better have the horses cause with the likely line up in the secondary as it stands, we're gonna need it. Look how SF built their line. They had good success in the 1st half of the SB. Spags adjusted in the 2nd half and Wilkes didn't.

We're gonna be forced to blitz a lot more and there's a fine line with that.

    I digress, gummy kicking in.

To get this out of the way: this isn't me claiming that I have any special juice about what's going in the war room. It also isn't an absolute path. If a player who has been forecasted in the top 10-15 is there for the taking in the 20s, I am even for a (reasonable) trade up. If Jared Verse, Brian Thomas or Adonai Mitchell (make your pick of who you think WR4 in the draft is) or whoever you think is an instant game wrecker, you take them.

However, as is often the case, I am seeing a bit of a glut around pick 20 on most mocks and Big Boards where plays transition from Week 1 Gamechanger to Week 1 Effective Starter. The truth is, with Beane at work, I don't think that there are any massive glaring immediate needs on the roster: Curtis Samuel can play outside enough that it's not critically dire. Epenesa, Groot and Miller are (in theory) a recent starting DE rotation. They have plenty of depth at LB, have theoretical starters in the secondary, the O-line is mostly intact, RB room is pretty full, and TE doesn't need more reinforcement.

Basically, while I think there are several places where the Bills could upgrade, there is at least a theoretical veteran that a rookie would need to take the job from. However, a lot of those contracts are short term, set to expire by 2026 and the team is already over the cap for 2025. If we can't get a gamewrecker, would we say no to another 3rd or 4th round pick if Beane lets someone trade in from the back end?

Some mocks have us trading to 26 (for a 4th) and getting Latu. NFL.com pro comparison...T.J.Watt.  We need that and it could be a HR....for years.

Heading into the draft, I feel pretty good about the Bills.  The only thing lacking is a pash rush from the front 4.  I am concerned Groot has had a couple seasons now and needs to step up and be a 10+ sack guy.  I don't like depending so much on Von. Other than that I feel all the other positions are solid.

Depending on who is there at 28, I am tempted to move down, possibly with Carolina who may want to move back into the 1st. Possibly Washington as well to get a 3rd round pick.   Maybe use a 4th and 5th( or 6th) to move up in the 2nd.

WR is still #1 on my list followed by DL.  Safety in the 4th, along with just BPA from there on out.

How are you guys feeling about a month out from the draft?

Listening to OBL discuss this...2 4ths and a 5th or more won't even get us from 128 to the 3rd.....maybe the compensatory end of the round...maybe.

I dunno exactly … they got Edwards re- signed for 2 years at $3m per… they are paying McGovern $7.5 m per next two years and as mentioned they are now committed to see that out ….  I don’t hate McGovern but not sure he is that much better than Edwards …. can only assume Kromer loves him

I think Edwards is a tougher dude than McGovern.

  11. 25 minutes ago, Aussie Joe said:

They had the opportunity to move on from McGovern if they wanted too this offseason … instead they restructured him and he is now definitely here another two years guaranteed … they must like something about him

    Penn State thing maybe?

Why isn't it possible ?  I think Arizona wants to move down. I don't think they're ready until 2025 anyways:

    Arizona receives:

    Buffalo 2024 1st rd pick

    Buffalo 2024 2nd rd pick

    Buffalo 2024 4th rd pick

    Buffalo 2025 1st rd pick

    Buffalo 2025 3rd rd pick

    Buffalo receives:

    Arizona 2024 1st rd pick

No absolutely not. Let him go to AZ. with Murray who will get hurt and then have watchyamcallits throwing to him, Get him on a trade or whatnot 3 yrs. from now.

After we win a SB, he'll take a deal.

Zero I told you sos will be coming from me.

Edwards  will be a much better LG than McGovern. Maybe that's why they moved McGovern to C. I'm sure they'll draft one somewhere. Word on the streets is there were communication problems between he and Morse.

    Matt Parrino's mock

    https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2024/03/buffalo-bills-7-round-mock-draft-trade-back-lands-mammoth-dt-speedy-wr.html

    ROUND 1

    *TRADE DOWN*

Bills send pick no. 28 and no. 163 to the Washington Commanders for pick no. 36 (Round 2) and no. 78 (Round 3).

A few players would have changed the strategy at this spot if they hadn’t already come off the board in the draft. LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr., Texas receiver Adonai Mitchell, Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, or even Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy would have been the pick at 28. But all four players were gone.

    ROUND 2

Pick no. 36: Bills select T’Vondre Sweat, DT Texas

The Bills have their three-technique pass rusher, Ed Oliver, on a long-term deal. So, with the first pick in the 2024 draft, Beane goes after a space-eating run stuffer who showed off down in Mobile, Ala., at this year’s Senior Bowl. Sweat may not get out of the first round.

Starting to hear this more everyday.

Their run game was absolutely gashing us.  Part of why i thought the TD to shakir would have been the difference.  I didn't see them having as much offensive success without being able to keep us honest there.

The difference was the dropped passes. We should have won by 2 scores.

Know we’re not big fans of PFF on TBD but it’s just interesting to see their opinion--they gave Austin Johnson an overall rating of 45.7 which is very low compared with what I’ve seen with other players.

By comparison Daquan was an 86.0.  Which is why we paid him $8M per. Calais Campbell at 37 yrs old got an 80.0. That’s why he got $7M last year and will likely be close again.

Not expecting a low cost FA DT to be rated very high but with Johnson getting such a low rating makes me nervous. Jerry Tillery got a 67.7 and $2.75M for one year. Settle a 57.1 and got $3M per for two. Just gives you some comparative analysis so we can be realistic with our expectations (whether or not we agree with PFF). FWIW.

Well, I'd rather take my chances than pay Settle that. Gabe Hall is probably better.

His old self wasn’t good. He’s a worse version of Rapp imo and I’m not a big Rapp fan. More of a country guy 😆

Maybe he becomes what Dane Jackson was  to the DB room. I hope so, but I don't feel good with him having to start.
