Update: Xavier Rhodes signed by Bills
nosejob replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I remember correctly, he was laying some wood. I was also impressed with Bernard and Spector. Glad to see them get some playing time. I'm thinking this week Cook and Shakir help out/breakout. I just hope Saffold doesn't get bulldozed. The 2 things I worry about is the Oline and letting Mahommes scramble around and kill us. If Edmunds starts they need to blitz him nonstop. Bury the run and pressure Patrick. Milano will have his hands full elsewhere so they will have to scheme it upfront. Good time for some press man and hopefully Phillips is feeling good. I personally don't think it would be a bad idea if they spelled T.Johnson with Neal once in a while. Bring a little nastiness in. -

Trade Deadline (Nov 1) Bills Rumors / Speculation

Call me what you will, but this makes some sense. Some team is gonna offer Edmunds stupid money on a too long contract that just won't make sense or be doable....so we get would get nothing in return. -

Did you see him play last Sunday? -
That killed my buzz.....Not to mention Chris Jones ans Frank Clark and my problem with confusing Saffold with Ducasse.
-
Heyward, Highsmith and what's his name will push the pocket. I don't trust Saffold here. If Dawkins and Brown can do their job than the inside will be all we have to worry about.....but without Knox's help, ain't gonna be a pocket.....let alone running lanes. We will have to hit the backs in the flat, throw some screens and some quick outs to back them off. Pitt. may be well served to Blitz like Miami. In fact, I expect to see them try to do what Miami did against us. I'm sure they will feel they can do that with doubling Diggs, no Davis and taking their chances. BTW hopefully a big day from Q.Morris and not for Pickens.
-
What? I haven't seen the final in jury report....other than Terrell. Anywho, my 2 bits... I'm still worried about the Pitt. Dline. They are gonna spell trouble. Probably no standard run game for us. Gilliam is gonna have to be in to protect and he better be able to do it. A lot of people dissing the lack of Knox grabs, but does anyone notice him lining up behind the guard all the time and giving us pass pro that wouldn't exist otherwise? We're gonna notice it tomorrow. This game may end up being another discussion about half time adjustments. Hoping for a breakout game from Shakir and Cook. I think we can kill it with screens and YAC with Diggs being Diggs I can't go the 14 though. 31-20

Especially when talking about how busy with how many fantasy leagues, sounds like a middle age guy living in parents' basement. OBL is my bread and butter, but Sal and the extra point show is great.
-
Agreed, take all the time he needs. Between Knox and Morris, Diggs, Shakir and Dirty ( who will be fine), we'll be ok. Time for ESPN on a Monday morning to be talking about James Cook breaking out. edit: The question is....Who's gonna sacrifice their body to try to chip Heyward?
-
HMO....just kidding, and this may not be the right thread but I'm tired of people raggin on Knox. Not only did he make a possibly game saving catch , he also is Josh's pass pro. Am I the only one that sees him lining up behind a guard 90% of the time? Our pass game is thanks to him being an extra Olineman. Can't they put Gilliam back there to do that and let Knox catch passes? This is for you Ken Dorsey..... BTW, if Sweeney can't block......well never mind, Quinton Morris will will be integral vs. Pitt.

Edmunds…back to back good games. Facts. (Update: Another good game)

I won't rag on 49 for today. Although if I were him getting bulldogged or thrown out of plays would make me ....humble.? I also would like to ponder that wasn't he an OLB/DE in college?.....and then they sent him from the edge today and he killed it. I have never understood the reasoning behind forcing him to MLB. Put Bernard in the middle....send 49 from the outside like Reddick. Ya'll heard it here first. -
I wouldnt have been surprised if Crowder dropped his gloves. James Cook can't catch a cold. Get Davis back 100% and bring Shakir along. Isaiah will be fine. BTW, thank God for Diggs.

All-22 Grades for Bills/Dolphins (The Athletic)

They showed a close up of VanRoten's face when he came in and he looked petrified....at least that was my first impression. -

I think that's the plan with the need to stagger contracts. I think if Morse can't go at any time in the future, Bates is the best fit for center and I think they elevate Alec Anderson to play RG. I think he will be a good guard. I was hoping they'd stay at 25 this past draft and take Zion Johnson. I wonder how he's doing. -
Was Jaquan Johnson really that bad in his first career start?
nosejob replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he did ok and will be fine. I know everyone wants to judge him by one play, but I like him. He's a hitter. -
A Few Thoughts About the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
nosejob replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
What I can do is send pressure and not allow time for a Waddle to get open deep. If there is a completion, it's likely to be well short of 22 yds. and likely forcing a punt. You know you're playing younger players so keep the play in the short to intermediate area and wrap it up...not hang them out to cover the entire field. BTW speaking of Poyer and Hyde and excecution...... -

My biggest beef is 3rd and 22. Our DBs I thought played well enough or as to be expected, but to send no pressure and allow a 45 yd. completion has me pointing my finger for this loss at the sideline. The worst defense in history would have better odds of stopping that play short of 22 yd. (also forcing a punt) with pressure on the QB vs. giving him all day to wait for someone to come open. That right there is a new all time low in defensive coaching. Takes the cake. -
I don't think anyone cares because he's not under contract and it doesn't matter what he does.

We can pretend his last name is Howard.... -
I can't figure out why McD refuses to insert himself when these situations come up. Every time they did blitz, they had success and the fact that we blitz the least is nothing more than stubborn arrogance. Granted we finally got the talent to be able to rush 4, but they knew going into that heat they were down their 2 best interior lineman. Anybody with any sense would have adapted and yet in Bills fashion, we still have a coordinator unable or refusing to adapt. Miami sent pressure nonstop and took away the deep completion. Out coached again. To me, the 3rd and 22 was inexcusable and there's no sane argument against it. The chances of sending pressure and keeping any completion under 22 yds. is a lot better than giving Tua all day in the pocket. That was the most pathetic call I have seen on defense yet. At least 13 seconds can be argued who, when, what and where. Zero reasoning on this play. Is McD afraid to step on Frazier's toes?

Ryan Bates is in concussion protocol (update - Cleared)
nosejob replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The whole crew on ESPN's Getup show this morning said " No way in Hell was that a back thing." Rex Ryan and Stephen A. Smith went off about it. The NFLPA is def. gonna be on it. I'm willing to bet that given the history of other players that, at some point this season,Tua will again deal with a concussion(s).
