I’ve been vocal that I want a draft day trade for Oliver to Hopkins.  They get a talent maybe next years 4th RD pick.  Then one of the top WR in the draft and then a TE like this one in the 2nd.

I know it’s a lot, but that is a lot of weapons to our score opponents.  I know MLB is important, but I’ll take a decent one plus maybe Klein as well.  Maybe we drop from top 3 defense to maybe top 7-8, but and a #1 offense.

How fun would that be?  10, 11, 12 personnel options, and Josh just having a ball out there.

It would have to be a 3 way trade. The Cards won't want Ed's 11 mil. salary and they pick 3rd in each rd.

Interesting article about the LB class from last week. Seems in line with what many of us think.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/nflmocks.com/2023/04/03/nfl-draft-campbell-linebacker-rankings/amp/

Campbell is an above-average run stuffer, a borderline elite defender in coverage, and an underutilized pass rusher. His leadership ability is second-to-none, and he will be a force in the middle of the defense for the next 12-15 years. Campbell is an All-Pro MIKE. Stamp it.

NFL Draft Grade: Mid-to-Late Day 1      This is from the article.  I can't see a better, safer, more impactful player at 27....period.

No matter what position the value is definitely in the eye of the team that is picking them . Each & every team has their own determination where a players value is for the round they are choosing them in Beane may have Campbell as a second round pick but the Ravens may have him higher .

GO back a couple of years when the Bills traded with the Chiefs & they took Mahomes & the Bills got Tre they apparently didn't think as highly of Mahomes as the chiefs did and look at them now . Tre is good but well you know where i'm going with this .

So definitely the personal preference is in who is doing the picking of each player .

A good example might be Kenny Pickett and the Steelers.

Gotcha. I suppose it could work out that way. I would hope that if they draft Wright he would beat Brown outright.

They'd have to give him Brown's spot. What are they gonna say?   Well, we thought he would beat out Spencer, but we'll have to give him time to acclimate to the NFL level.....or better yet, We felt that he could be an all pro guard...so it made sense.

You spend 1st rd. picks on can't miss LT's. You don't throw your current starter at RT away after he had no off season last year and is going into his 2nd year with his 2nd OL coach and 2nd O.C. To me that's just stupid....plus Wright ain't gonna be there anyway.

I would rather pick the other Darnell.

We need a guy that can make contested catches. I think we need to model our offense like the Bengals, we know Josh likes to throw the ball downfield. We need our Tee Higgins, we have enough small shifty guys.

I'm hoping we get Evans or Hopkins on a trade, or draft Quinten Johnston

Sherfield will be our Higgins. He's gonna wow.    Shakir too    and a healthy determined Gabe.  I think a Tillman, Reed, Rice  pick after the 1st can offer just as big of a  contribution than a pick at 27 not named JSN. A 1st rd, wide receiver will be battling for no. 3 or 4 kind of snaps?

I want ...for a 1st rd. pick, to be able to start day 1, full time at a position of great need.   A good WR can be had in the 3rd, combined with a good vet and we're set at 7.

I also believe we'll come away with a good TE.

Honestly?  Nobody.  There are guys I'm intrigued by.   Adetomiwa Adebowore is fascinating.  Guys who weigh 280+ lbs don't run sub 4.5 40s or have a vertical jump of over 3 feet.  He played edge in college, but he could be a moveable chess piece in the NFL.  He could line up as a 3 tech, or on the edge.  You could even play him at linebacker.  There's probably no chance that Buffalo drafts him, but man is he fascinating.

Darnell Washington is a guy whom the Bills could draft.  He's got to mature and develop some, but he has the potential to be a Gronk like tight end.  He's big and athletic, somewhat under utilized in college.  He's OK at blocking, but could learn to be much better.  Of course, he made that wild one handed catch at the combine.

He could become the next Jason Peters.

I really think this should be the play. If I am Beane, I would trade up a bit to make sure I get him.

I'm not counting on it. It could be very slim pickens by 23 or so. I think it would cost to much to even go to 20. It would have to be a 2024 pick(s).

I actually like Campbell as possibly being the BPA.   27...31...what's the big diff.?  He's gonna be ready to go game one and most likely give us better all around play then Edmunds. Not many questions as to what he'll give us. He's already being trained up by McD's star protege'.

Love Kincaid- his play style reminds me of Kelce- very fluid hips, great hands, and excellent football IQ…One of my favorite players in the draft…

I could see him eventually bumping Knox to #2, but I don’t think the Bills will want to draft a TE in the 1st, especially considering how deep  the position is…

I would rather him over Flowers. This is a year where 3rd and 4th rounders will probably be looking like ones. Having 2 TEs don't mean we have to run 12.

I think Dorsey won a championship with Shockey and Winslow so I'm guessing he knows when to use it. I think Kincaid's gonna be a perennial pro bowler.

I wouldn't expect Knox to play every snap. I think that Kincaid would do more for the WR core and offense vs. a possible MacKenzie.

It seems that Washington will now be in position to make it a bidding war

Nothing would make me happier. Washington fans deserve this and they do have a roster that would make the NFC east much more interesting.

While I really have to applaud the Jets team building and drafting, I can't help but to hope they get bit in the arse. Going all in on A Aron just to save a GM and coach who don't dare draft another QB looks like a typical Jets mess ready to unfold.

Aside from getting Rogers, I really don't have an answer of what they should do (or should have done) at QB. The Jets want assurances. If Rogers don't get through a season or decides to retire all of a sudden, they want to be able to recoup picks. I don't see GB folding on that. They hold all the cards.

I'd love to see a team like Washington with new ownership swoop in and take him. It would be cool to see them against the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles.

If he ends up in N.Y, he's gonna have to get the Arthur Moats treatment.

I don't see Cook doing anything more than Singletary ever has, particularly with Damien Harris there.  If the team really believed that he was a 3-down RB they wouldn't have traded for Harris.

Well if he was/is a 3 down back, does that mean we only need  1 ?....and what did we trade for Harris?

  12. I'm expecting surprises. Did we not learn anything last year? Sure Ed may have a good year, but in all likelihood someone will pay him stupid money next year.

I think Beane will take advantage of that during the draft....via trades. Let me dream a little....

    rd.1.pick 27  Calijah Kancey DT

rd.2  Trade  Oliver to his hometown Houston for 33, 73 and 188. We could throw in a late 2024 if need be.

    rd.2 pick 33 Jack Campbell

Trade: 59, 91 and 205 to Seattle for no. 37

rd. 2 Steve Avila (played C 2021, G 2022 and has played at both G spots)

rd.3 pick 73 Isaiah Foskey Edge   He can be listed and lined up at OLB while providing pass rush and or used at DE depending on Von's near and distant future.

    rd.4 pick 130 BPA

    rd.5 pick 137 BPA

    rd.6 pick 188 BPA

I may have screwed up somewhere but all the trades were to teams with 2 picks in said rds. Flame away

The perception that players are moving up is only occasionally the reality.

I think it was Sports Illustrated that had Jason Peters mocked as a late 1st round pick in their magazine mock that year after he had a seemingly huge "draft process".

    He went undrafted.

Obviously the more recent Tariq Woolen example in last draft.

Those are the memorable examples because they played well when they got in the league.

Tons of less interesting examples of guys who "fell" despite media helium that never amounted to anything.

Last year I wanted to move Edmunds and had Detroit as my target. I would have stood pat and taken Zion Johnson G,  Christian Harris LB then Cam Taylor Britt and Tariq Woolen.

That would be dumb on the Packers side though, no?  Wouldn’t they want to land draft picks from the Jets in this year’s draft?  Predicting Schefter is wrong on this one.

The thing is they own A  Aron. They don't have to accept anything they don't want to. They can let him sit on the couch (or dark place) and think about the 33 mil. he ain't getting.  The Jets can hold out a while longer until the draft date possibly gets the Packers to accept maybe not as much as they want.

By that time, other teams  will be saying ...Hey, why not us?  If the Commanders situation changes soon and they can swing it, what better way to bring that team to relevance?  He'll probably end up a 49er. How cool would that be?

That's always the way it's seemed to me.  I paid a lot more attention to the draft when the Bills were picking in the top 10, and I always thought that at 10 the Bills were just outside of the premier-player range.    I haven't paid attention this season, but it's noticeable that no one is talking guys as absolute locks.

I think that's what's wrong with  a lot of posters complaining about the team's drafts.  WE PICK 5 FROM THE BOTTOM IN EVERY RD PEOPLE!

We have 6 picks.  So let's scrap our 3rd yr. RT in favor of a rookie with our rd.1 pick or.....let's blow our top pick (or any pick,) on a RB!

No wait!!!  We need to get another small 170 lb. WR....or one that's been injured.   Out of an entire class with maybe 2 1st rd. talents, who'll be long gone before 27, we should trade up! We need to make a Sammy type of deal ( which now would probably get us up 5-7 spots maybe) or give up all our picks!

    Beane sucks!!!!

I waited 25 yrs. in between playoff rosters. Frazier is gone! We'll get guys back healthy and I'm looking forward to this camp and season! No one....not one will know  the exact spot McBeane shall  pickith. The amount of complaining about the GM and H.C. that lacks intelligence is getting to epidemic proportions.

I think White is a good player but not sure he fits the defense. He is a downhill, aggressive, blitzing specialist. Tampa use him on run blitzes and pass rush blitzes a lot. That is his strongest suit. That isn't this defense (I know some fans have played Madden and want us to blitz every play and so would love it). He has struggled in coverage. Unless the Bills are massively re-casting their D he is not the answer.

That's Exactly what we need! Perfect for McD's new rabid defense. A 4-3 base that can and will rush a LB from any and every spot at will. That essentially gives us a 5 man line all the time. Elam and White can play man with P&H in the back.

EDIT: Not saying that I would trade for and pay him.

Campbell is a tackling machine but Sanders is literally like an extra edge rusher which Beane is so enamored with. If they go D in round 1 which I fully expect as I think the WR stuff is a smokescreen since Beane can’t help himself with high D picks. I fully expect Drew Sanders to be a Bill.

I think Campbell has to be the pick over Sanders.

I would then prefer adding Foskey for pass rush ( which may be at 59) and we could list/ put him at OLB or put him on the Edge whenever.

I also like Kingsley Jonathan in that same fashion ( who was the no. 1 overall pick in the CFL and can play both as well). I got a gut feeling about him. He looks fast af.

Tell me the dominant DT's in this league who can both rush the pass passer and stop the run then tell me where they were drafted that are above 320.

Vita Vea? ...Quinnen Williams is only 305, Chris Jones isn't 320, Aaron Donald isn't close, Simmons 305....There aren't guys out there 320 plus who rush the passer with success its a fallacy.

Well one thing's for sure...We have no DTs under contract next year and going into next off season that way, I don't expect to happen. That being said, I'm willing to bet Beane has some scenarios where he has hypothetical plans in place and very likely to be talking to other teams about draft day scenarios, for example....

I wouldn't be surprised if Beane has a trade set up for Oliver if the draft falls a certain way. Let's say Kancey and Breese are sitting there and they select one with an agreement that in that situation they trade Ed to Houston for 33/73/201 ( one of their 2 3rds and one of their 2 6ths), while giving them our 2024 2nd.?

We get Campbell at 33 and maybe use 91 and 59 to move up in the 2nd again....and maybe get a top IOL or TE.  A 1st, 2 2nds and a relatively good spot in the 3rd could give us 4 impact players right off the bat. That may all sound like fantasy, but my point is I'm betting Beane is gonna have several plan B's cooked up and will possibly have deals in place should things go certain ways.

In the above scenario maybe instead he sends pick 91 to the Ravens for Patrick Queen then selects Sanders at 33. Not one of us knows what will ultimately happen.

However, I just don't see him standing pat with and where our lowly 6 picks are....and although we may get a banner year out of Ed, will he get stupid money from some team next year....and did we not learn anything from hanging on to Edmunds last year?

  19. 10 hours ago, BigAl2526 said:

Mazi Smith is a 323 lb DT with speed to be a force rushing the passer and chasing down plays. The question is, can he tap those measurables more effectively in the pros than in college.  He was good, but not as disruptive as you might expect.  He's being graded as a first round prospect mostly on the basis of measurables.

The Ravens gave up a 2nd and a 5th in this year's draft for Smith. A heavy price for the Bills IMO and I don't think we have the cap space to keep White next year and beyond unless re-work more contracts. Plus am scare of his small size  (6-0 237) as the Bucs protect him with Vita Veta.

And didn't the Ravens give Smith 100mil. deal? I'd rather send a 3rd in 2024 for Patrick Queen.

The idea of drafting a WR or TE2 is exciting.  It means the FO sees a huge talent.  But IMO it is unlikely.

From a financial perspective, picking at 27 is around a $2.5M spot.  We just picked up someone comparable to J Hyatt for under $2M, we had someone on our practice squad sniped on us comparable to Q Johnson - Hodgins.  Our TE2's have salaries under $3M - even OJ Howard.

Or the Bills can take what looks like a comparable to the guy that just left us for $18M.

One would think this just may be a good idea.
