Quinton Morris is a bit on the short side, but that's not a concern in my mind for a third stringer.  I find myself wondering if for the few times the Bills line up a fullback in the backfield Morris could fill that role in addition to being the 3rd string TE.  Nothing against Gilliam, who is a good fullback and came out of college as a short tight end, but if the Bills can save a roster spot and get more reps for the money from Morris, that is a good thing.

I like Morris...slippery and smooth. I think Gilliam is maybe the last Tolbert to McD's past. Waste of money IMO.

Maybe now Scorpion can take TE off his mock drafts and soon come around to the Bills only going for  a big RB come UFDA.

Pats are working on a new deal with Bourne

If I were the Pats, I'd trade down a bit and take J.J. McCarthy. Grab a good WR rd. 2 and in a great spot for BPA throughout. They got some bucks so, Wilkins wouldn't surprise me, but hope not.....wish we could afford him....even tho I hate his innards.  But then again, I thought BB would turn Mac Jones into TB.

Irks me to no end that we got Sammy Watkins instead of Mack and that he had a Buffalo connection already.

But wait there's hope...A small school guy (Troy) who could be the next Mack is Javon Solomon. If we  could end up with him and Maason Smith from LSU

later in the draft Beane will be a genius.

This is the definition of hometown discount. Doesn’t seem like Chris Jones is willing to do the same. I think Jones is signing somewhere else. Maybe Houston.

No way, he'll retire a Chief. If not,I hope he stays in the AFCW...just for entertainment.

I still want to see some real investment into the position.  It feels like we've got a lot of lotto tickets with Shorter, KJ Hamler, Andy Isabella, etc... If one of them hits, awesome, but I don't want to bank on it.

Yeah, I'm all for drafting 2.

If he is there at #28 he is the BPA by a distance IMO. You either pick him or trade back so that someone else can. You don't leave him on the board to reach for a prospect a tier lower just because you have a positional need.

Actually they didn't just fail to dress him, they never activated him. His 3 week window opened in which you can practice but by the end of that window you have to be activated back to the 53 and they didn't. That can be one of two reasons 1. they didn't think he improved the roster; 2. He had an injury setback.

He has a shot this year to win a job as a gunner. Neal gone, Lewis currently not on the roster too.... we have a major hole there.

It was discussed on OBL  that they most likely kept him to IR for the end rather than poached from P.S and definitely weren't gonna waive him. He'll make the 53.

Shavers may as well. ya never know

Don't like the idea in round one AT ALL, but absolutely see DeJean as a more talented/touted comp for Hyde. Versatile, athletic, productive, Iowa. What used to be seen as a tweener...now seen as a secondary asset. So we could reasonably assume McD is salivating.

How about this?   With the 28th pick in the 2024 draft, The Buffalo Bills select....Quinyon Mitchell CB Toledo!

Ladd is the next Justin Jefferson, confirmed.

IMO , if it's down to Leggette and Coleman, I'd take Legette. However, there are enough teams with two 2nd rd. picks, I'd gladly give up next years 1st to get a another 2nd this year. That way we could go with say...Legette, Sweat and Ladd or Wilson at 60.

Or what if...say...Byron Murphy somehow drops to 28. We could trade SF next year's 1st for Aiyuk and still get another good one at 60....IDK.

I've been reading BR's scouting reports on all positions and compared to most media, the draft slot projections are way different. It seems their grades are much lower than the media and maybe given recent history more accurate.

Of course nothing matters until FA begins.

Yes, I am. Is that any worse than continuing to have him not on the field from a PR perspective? I just suspect they will come to the conclusion by the end of camp that it isn't going to work out. Last camp they gave him first crack at starting and he ended up 3rd in a 3 man race. I don't think he can play in this defense. My gut feeling is that will be staring everyone in the face by the end of camp.

You may end up being right, but I think we'll see a similar story like the Bernard thing last year.

A team that plays much more man. And for something like a 5th that becomes a 4th if he hits certain indicators. Ravens feels like a possible given they have guys like Darby and Ya-Sin as impending FAs but hard to say until post FA and the draft.

I suspect this is an end of camp trade btw rather than anything in the short term.

So you're saying trade for a 2025 pick. I think it's too early for them to give up on a 1st rd. pick from a PR standpoint. I also believe he'll make the 53.

I don't see them going FA at both safety and CB. I'm no fan of Cam Lewis so maybe they pick up 2 safeties. Pay up for one (Stone?) and maybe reunite Rapp with Jordan Fuller. I think they're gonna be able to pick a good one as well.

I think a day 3 CB, 1 or 2 picks, one being a slot/nickel type. Douglas/ Benford  Jackson/Elam and T.J. and hopefully hit another Alex Austin or 2.

I would guess he’s a Jones replacement but who knows.

I would look to replace Jones. I would take the over on DQ missing more than 5 games...again. Same with J.P.

I hope we come away with 2 DTs (Sweat being one)  and maybe one vet like Fletcher Cox. I'm also high on Maason Smith who can replace Shaq. Better rusher and can play anywhere on the line.

  12. I think he can be a very good corner. He's made for man coverage and this team needs to adapt to be able to play man coverage. There are teams where we will never get home with rushing 4. We need to be able to play some man/press. As a matter of fact, this team needs to prioritize new scheming defensively.

They should be able to create pressure when they need to...be it..

4-3 base with man coverage and sending a LB on every play...

Playing a 5-2-4 at times like we did with Lorax or..

    more blitzing on nickel.

While I believe McD is worlds better than Frazier and did an excellent job with the injuries last year, I would really like to see some innovation from him this year.

Hopefully he let's Babich be creative with line stunts as well as the above.

Traded around pretty much the first 4 rounds. Defensive talent dropped with offense going heavy in the first and early second.

    107. Maason Smith DT       Won't need to pay Shaq, plus can play anywhere on line.

    131. Javon Solomon ED      The next Kahlil Mack

198 Omar Speights LB        We can can let TDot and Matakevich go.

    PERFECT DRAFT!

Can’t be lazy with Josh. You might be the 4th option and all of a sudden the ball hits you in the helmet. Play every snap like you’re getting the ball when playing with Josh.

The one thing I like to look for in the scouting reports is: finds a spot and makes himself available to the QB.

  16. Just thoughts off the top of my head...

Bills FAs ( priority) to sign:  Rapp, Edwards and AJE.

From elsewhere:  S   Geno Stone    + Poyer ...(If Poyer stays)

Jordan Fuller   + plus Rapp ( with having played together could give us the next Poyer/Hyde tandem.)

    WR: Calvin Ridley

DL:  Fletcher Cox  I wouldn't bother (or bend over) to sign DQ or Phillips. Neither will ever play a full season. I'd take the over 5 missed games on both. Easy money.

Signing DQ to money that could be better spent would make me think of Starr. We need to build our own line. Now is the time for youth there.

ED: Hasson Reddick  ( I think Floyd will get a longer term deal elsewhere.)

Those are my FA thoughts to go with my (rough)draft wish list: Leggette, Burton and Walker  (Trade back a few spots, get an extra pick.)

Sweat, Fiske, M. Smith    ( the next Chris Jones?)

                                                                                                               Ellis and/or Booker and Solomon

I don't have a favorite for Safety and RB should probably be UDFA.

My draft wish list may seem a bit unreal but there are at least a few teams with multiple picks in rd. 2.  I'd give up next year's 1st to get a pick in the 2nd for Sweat

and keeping 60.  I'd also package a couple of sixths and the 7th to move up.

I am all for Beane to use a pick from next year to help out especially since we're likely picking 27-32 again.

With his record if he wants a job in the NFL in 2024 he will have one. I think he just looked at the slog that the NFL calendar was and thought I don't have the energy for that, I need to recharge my batteries. Guarantee that come November and December all the young hotshot offensive guys in the potential HC picture will be ringing Leslie Frazier to try and get him to attach his name to their candidacy for hiring season.

    Don't hold your breath.

I don't buy the common sentiment in this thread that he should be 'saved' for time towards the end of the season and playoffs. This is a league in which each of the 17 regular season games has tremendous impact on home field or even if they qualify for post season. The division is getting stronger and I think it's mistake to assume the Bills are a shoe-in to make the playoffs.

In a season in which there was a lot of competition in the conference, the Pats missed the playoffs with an 11-5 record.

If Von feels ready and is cleared by the medical staff, I want him on the field no matter how early in the season it is. I don't want to 'save him'. I want the Bills to go all out every game. One loss in September can make a huge difference come January.  Their talent on their edge is already average or possibly a little below.

The Bills were a bad snap away against Minnesota from having home field last year, though considering the mental state following Damar, not sure it would have made any difference.

Hope to see # 40 out there on opening day.

    I hope to see him too....high 5in Jack Campbell!😉

I like your enthusiasm with regard to Sherfield and Shakir.  I like your feelings of certainty on a healthy Gabe, as well.  I'm not sure I share them.  I think Sherfield is what he is - a career journeyman who plays ST and can fill the #5 WR slot as an injury backup.  I want to see the Bills bring in real competition for #2 and #3 with Davis and Shakir.

I have a little different take on the WR class.  We are drafting at pick #27.  Last year, there were 6 WR drafted in the top 18.  But that doesn't affect a team drafting at 27, unless we want to trade all the way up into the top 18!  What really matters is the quality of the WR who might be available when we pick.

So actually, I think the fact that the WR talent is seen as lower, might push a good WR down into the position where we can draft him.

Since this is the "Do Not Draft" thread, I'll say that I don't understand the Jaxon Smith-Njigba love, and he is a player I would say "Do Not Draft".  I don't like that he missed the entirety of last season with a "hamstring injury" - either that injury is so bad that he might not be the same player, or it was a "career decision" pointed towards the draft.  He's coming out after a missed Jr year, he didn't play a lot of man coverage which means he needs to learn how to release against press man.

I do still think Sherfield is gonna be a huge get. He was no.3 behind Hill and Waddle. He's a process guy whose determined and is gonna give 150%.

He's gonna be talked about a lot.  I also think Shakir will have a very high catch to target ratio on all 3 levels.

As far as rd. 1....Seattle, Detroit and Houston all have 2 picks and then the Pats, Jags, Bolts and Giants before us...JSN, Johnson and Addison will be gone.

Flowers is small ( shortest wingspan of any highly rated WR prospect ever?) from B.C?   He could end up just topping out as Lil Dirty 2. PASS

I think we could have better luck with a later rd. WR...( Tillman , Reed, Mims, Mingo, Rice). If we can land a good TE as well, I'm happy.
