You mention Tampa, but they have Fournette who certainly contributed and I believe was taken 4th overall in the first round. In addition Cyle Edwards-Hillaire was 32nd overall for KC. It seems to me that both teams have taken running backs in the first round and both have contributed to their success overall, no? it seems to make a case that the great passing teams with great QB’s also have high level running backs who were drafted highly. Even Cam Akers for the Rams was drafted earlier than the available second round pick the bills have this year. I’ll also mention that the RB’s in this class have also shown incredible speed. There were 5 backs, including Hall that ran in the sub 4.4 range at his size. Even the best from last year in Najee and Etienne ran in the mid 4.4’s. Wondering maybe there are a few underrated backs in this class. Sure is a lot of speed. Breece seems to have both speed, size and receiving ability.

I still think that we will draft the best player available. Problem is, that won’t be a corner. We will automatically be getting 2nd round + corner material with our late first round pick, with all the corners that will be selected early. That means we are likely to get the same level of player available to us with our second round pick at cornerback, as the studs will be gone by our pick. This will all come down to scouting and how the staff feels about the cornerback group outside the top few. But if we can only get the 5th or 6th best corner, but instead grab the best running back in the draft, then it becomes more worth it for us. Might not even be running back that’s the best available but it’s something we surely do need.

Clone Single Player 11xs to Make Best Team

Jim Brown every day of the week on offense. The guy could do everything. As much as I like LT, he’d suck in coverage. Ray Lewis on defense. -
Gunner's 2022 Draft Quarterback Evaluations
Aurelius replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sleeper of the draft will be Jack Coan of Notre Dame. Mark it down. -
I agree here. We draft at a weird spot where the premier first round CB talents that we really want will likely be off the board. I generally don’t see a lot of sense using our first round pick on the 4th or 5th best CB and can probably push that pick back to the 2-5th rounds. There is some quality depth at CB and high upside out there. Our staff will also likely have guys down the draft board that they love and will develop. If it’s not a Stingley or Sauce I’m not sure it’s worth that first pick. Our first round pick should be a must-have type guy. I think we have more need for a do-it-all RB with current roster build. Will likely also be able to draft a stud WR here but less of a need than RB and probably more depth down the line at WR. I can still see a trade up if they love somebody and maybe move somebody to get there. It will be a mystery until draft time and probably surprise us all.

I’m sure this was posted somewhere but it gives some more clarity based on percentages of the odds. it’s a few years old from 2015 but the stats are interesting. In conclusion, Safest first-round picks: Safety, linebacker, interior offensive line https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2441018-which-positions-are-the-safest-riskiest-at-the-top-of-the-nfl-draft.amp.html

I feel like Breece is a lot better fit than Walker for the Bills. Breece is quite a bit bigger, but just as fast and is far and away the better receiver of the 2. So much that he can really do damage in flank, on screens and in slot. In addition, he’s got a longer stride and I think has better breakaway ability given his greater length when going up a level to the NFL. Breece’s production matches all that. Walker is very shifty, hits the hole hard and is more of a back for a team relying on the running game. Much shorter player with shorter stride and seems to rely on speed burst to break past initial line of defenders but slows a bit and looks back a ton on long runs for fear of getting caught. He’s an excellent back who Id love to have as well, and I’m no NFL scout, but Breece seems like a superior fit for what the Bills do and his proven ability to catch makes him a legit weapon for Allen.

I say trade Poyer to move up in draft and grab Kyle Hamilton. Win-win
-
Agree. Definitely gonna trust the Bills scouts on this stuff. It also doesn’t mean we can’t get “our” guy in the second round. I’m just saying that I don’t think the end of the first is a bad spot for us to take a RB. I think it’s far from a done deal and the front office might not favor either of these guys. Breece hall though, as an overall back, considering his bonafide receiving ability, looks the part.
-
Agree with this. I think Breece Hall is a good value at #25 There’s a big drop off at corner after sauce and stingley. Lots of WR depth to be had throughout the draft, and it’s not a major need. If you can get the best RB on the board in Breece, as a current super bowl favorite that has weakness in the running game, it’s a good pick. The fact that he’s a pass-catching back would be a huge boon for Allen and the team as well. The guy is a TD-maker and would make us that much better. Bottom of the first round is more than a reasonable spot for an elite RB pick.
-
I actually think Breece Hall would be a great pick at where bills are drafting. Still plenty of picks to grab 2 CB’s, OL etc. WR is a deep draft so I think we can pick our spots with that. Most important is giving Josh Allen options on offense. RB is a game changer for us in this particular draft class. We have Super Bowls to win.

Unless you get access to a Sauce or Stingley, I don’t see the Bills using their top pick for a CB. It’s been discussed here already but I think they probably nab a stud WR or even a big DT, safety or top LB with that pick. The stats about how few first round CB’s are starting for teams down the line doesn’t compel to take a CB in the first round. Gotta pick a position that presents a “must have” player, whatever that position might be.
-
I truly feel that of the Bills stay at 25, which they probably will, the’ll ask themselves who they can’t turn down at that spot. I honestly think it may be a surprise and not a corner first depending on who’s available . They can easily get 2 very good corners after the first round pick. Look where Tre’ was drafted and how the many corners chosen have panned out. It’s not a sure thing call. Not sure they draft a CB with the 25th spot if their premier choices are off the board.

Diggs Extended 4 more years breaking news per WGR 550
Aurelius replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
In addition, Josh Allen needs targets. Nobody gonna argue with Diggs, the number 1 receiver for the QB getting his contract adjusted. It also benefits cap space. Only so many lions can eat, and others have to wait for food. Everybody knows that. -

This right here. Hopefully can grab a serviceable CB like Gilmore so you can go into the draft grabbing best possible player regardless of position at that time. It’s the best way to prep roster for future challenges and really grab talent vs reach for need. Hopefully the Diggs deal allows restructure for the cap to allow one CB and pay the draftees. Worst case scenario we don’t grab a free agent CB, and hit the draft with CB the only true hole in the roster. -
Forget trading picks to move up imo. Trade heavy contracts that won’t prevent the Bills from winning now and draft in their stead with rounds 1-3 picks. I don’t want to see the Bills trade Diggs right now, but while I love guys like Tremaine, I think we could get high-level pics and draft another linebacker as well that won’t have us losing a ton of potential to win this season. Don’t want to move Tremaine? Move Epanesa etc. Cut bait and free up cap space for the greatest potential to add to the team.
-
Too much. Saints just traded with Eagles to have 2 picks ahead of the Bills. The saints don’t have CB needs. I think the Bills could still trade down if they want, but giving up 2 first rounders plus more for that pick is tough regardless about how good Sauce is. Frankly I think it’s easier to give up Edmunds to actually gain cap space, picks and move up in the class than it is to give up all those picks.

Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
Aurelius replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d like to see the Bills address the CB at all costs in free agency with a #2 CB. Can not rely on a premium guy to fill a starting spot at that position in this particular draft at #25. Doing so will allow the Bills to choose the best player avaiLable in most rounds, whether or not the Bates deal gets done or not.
