  1. Ah, sad. I always liked Gene Wilder. Rest in peace. EDIT: Everybody is quick to mention Willy Wonka and the Mel Brooks movies (Young Frankenstein stands out), but the stuff he did with Richard Pryor was great.
  2. It bugs me when people say the word "is" twice in row, as in, "the thing is is that..." It's very common. Just say "the thing is..." I don't know why so many people feel the need to say "is" twice there. Another one that is extremely common among sportscasters: "These type of..." I believe John Madden was the originator of this. He would always say he loves "these type-a guys..." Now it seems to have been adopted as acceptable. I hear it during every game. Very annoying! Just say "THIS type of guy..." or "these guys..." (ok, I realize I'm just complaining about grammatical mistakes now, but I can't help it)
  3. All this complaining about being “thrown under the bus” is getting pretty tiresome. (Unless it happens to be a literal example, in which case it’s hilarious.) I also cringe when I hear, “having said that…” It adds nothing to the discussion. In most cases, I find that it’s sort of used as a preemptive rationalization for someone who is about to say something hypocritical or contradictory.
  4. The team has some responsibility in this, but the parents do too. You need to be aware if you’re sitting in an exposed area, especially if you have a young child with you.
  5. I read the joke. It was ok, considering the extremely labored agenda-pushing set-up. 4/10.
  6. Yes. I don't think someone wrote it for him. I just think he tried to get over by making it sound professional and contrite, without actually copping to anything at all.

  8. Wow, what a sick sociopathic narcissistic POS idiot bastard Lochte is.
  9. Google probably just did that for you based on your preferences and search history.
  10. WNY has a lot of examples of screwy pronunciations too: Chili (CHAI lai) Leroy (Le ROY) Irondequoit (a RHONDA quite) Charlotte (shar LOTT) etc…
  11. "Ryan Lochte is a very talented individual, not just in the pool. Expect to see a lot more from him in a variety of exciting new enterprises." - Ryan Lochte "!@#$ that douchebag." - Everybody else in the world
  12. My daughter, when she was a baby, had what I thought was a nasty cut on her face. I washed it, and kissed it and put Neosporin on it. Later, it just fell off and I realized it was just a booger. I kissed a booger!
  13. All games are flawed. The NFL has a ludicrously convoluted rule book, too many penalties, too many commercials, replays are excruciating and take way too long. It's the only sport where the referee has to address the crowd by microphone to give explanations of what's going on... But we still love it.
  14. Hope Solo has something that is a lot easier to put your finger on, figuratively and literally, although you may be less inclined to do so.
  15. There's something unique about the girl, the way she just radiates attractiveness. Beautiful.
  16. Phelps: Visa, Subway, Wheaties, Louis Vuitton, Under Armour, Omega Master Spas, Sol Republic, Aqua Sphere Bolt: Puma, Hublot, Virgin Media, Visa, Nissa
  17. I would disqualify Motor Racing too because you get to sit down the whole time.
  18. Jealous ex-Vice Treasurer of the Indigo Girls Fan Club
  19. You son of a... That's it. Now I gotta get a flag made about you too.
  20. If track had multiple events at each distance depending on what arm movements you made while doing it, guys like Usain Bolt might have as many medals as Phelps.
  21. Yeah, but have they ever waved a flag that was seen on national television?
