You know who I'd really like to have a conversation with? Sam Wyche. I'm really curious to know what the experience was like working with JP right from the start. Sam always spoke really highly of him, in terms of his talent and as a person. Sam practically had himself surgically attached to JP from what I remember. At this point, does Sam still feel like he has what it takes to learn and improve? I don't know what the thing is exactly that keeps JP from getting to that next level. It's like when the heat is on, he's too willing to just fall back on his athleticism because that's what worked for him in the past. And that's not cutting it in the NFL. Maybe it's the case that he just does not have the vision and quick decisiveness that separates the great from the mediocre. Me, I don't think that's it. I've seen him be relaxed and make the good quick decision in spots. Then he gets antsy and loses the focus. I still feel like JP is bright enough and dedicated enough that he could "get it" and be a legit starter somewhere. Anyway, that's my uninformed opinion. Really there are only two things I know for sure: 1. NFL quarterback is a hard hard hard job. 2. Jerry Sullivan is a world class douchebag.

Fair question. There were a couple minor dives (more like belly flops than Triple Lindy's), but mostly it was a high quality well-played game.

Yesterday, Man. Utd. finished Barcelona. They'll be in the final against the winner of Liverpool vs. Chelsea today (2:30 ET on ESPN2). Quality football! It will be the first ever all England Champions League final.

Pastoralia and In Persuasion Nation are both excellent collections. A couple more favorites... My dog, Billie (see profile pic) was diagnosed with arthritis in her left hip at about 9 years old. The vet said it's not related to hip dysplasia, just plain arthritis. That's when I started giving her glucosamine chondroitin. She gets a pill every day. That was about 2 and a half years ago. I think it helps her quite a bit. She is occasionally a little stiff when she gets up, but for the most part she's her healthy playful self. Before she was on it, there were a couple of flare ups when she would be unable to go up the stairs at all. Since the glucosamine chondroitin, it has never gotten that bad. Billie is about 40 lbs., mixed breed (you tell me what you think she is--I've heard all kinds of guesses). Now almost 12 years old. Just yesterday she was running all over the damn place, up and down the stairs, with her crazy noise-making toys.

Regardless of who else looks good this year, if the Bills win 11 games, they're in. 10 games…maybe. Don't count the Bills out as AFC East champs. Maybe 12/28 in Buffalo will decide that. Anyway, the Bills play all the teams you listed except the Titans. I get the feeling that a lot of teams will still be in the race right up to the end. December for the Bills = dolphins, jets, broncos, pats*.
