  1. Ow! The painful irony being that Wondo was only there for that exact reason, to be that opportunistic finisher right in front of the goal. He's not a playmaker, doesn't contribute much at all defensively or in the flow of play. He's the garbage goal guy. And, amazingly, the opportunity fell right to his feet at the most important moment imaginable. And he missed the !@#$ing thing. I feel kind of bad for him because he seems like a nice enough guy. Would have been one of the greatest moments in this country's soccer history, if not the greatest. But he Munsoned it.
  2. Hey, Westie. Im sorry for what youre going through. Lots of good advice in this thread, and people who care. Please take good care of yourself. You deserve to feel better.
  3. I think it's fine. It's a positive thing to shine a light on a problem that is way bigger than most people realize or are willing to admit. If it feels good for some women to share in this informal way and if it makes them feel part of a community, then cheers! If you don't like it, it's easy for you to ignore. It asks nothing of you and doesn't cost you anything at all. It makes no claim on your life.
  4. What? She in fact did and does deny it. And she has won big settlements for defamation against news sources who pushed that story. And it is not well known that she slept her way to anything. What is well understood is that she was a victim of a smear campaign and that the claims are not at all true.
  5. Ideally, Klinsmann could continue to be technical director and someone else could coach the team. But I guess that wasn't an option.
  6. There once was a time that I thought it was pronounced GUGG-NEE. But then I realized the correct pronunciation is GOOOGNEE. I became a man that day.
  7. How about if you don't like it, take your silly trolling bull **** back to PPP where that **** plays to great applause.
  8. Good post. I agree with you. Man, Stuart Holden! I had such high hopes. Sad story of a really unfortunate series of injuries. I'd maybe argue for ranking Darlington Nagbe and Jordan Morris a little higher, but you make a good point. In spite of the fact that player development stagnated, I still think the player pool was good enough for the U.S. to have kept up with Mexico & Costa Rica as the class of this region. The fact that they couldn't do that and in fact let Panama and Honduras get ahead of them...that's an issue of EXECUTION. And that part of it, I can't quite explain. Why the drab uninspired performances? Why did this group just not come together? Where was that USA heart that we had come to expect? I don't exactly know.
  9. Well, thank goodness we have the Republican party keeping it real with perfectly ethical standards of campaign finance. One party good, one party bad. What a joke. I'm not defending any democrats because I don't care if they all take a flying !@#$ at a rolling donut, but if you think all these GOP'ers would turn down stacks of money from a guy with a skeevy reputation, you've been taking too many of your Obamacare opiods.
  10. Yeah, she mentioned assault. She said Weinstein did not remember "...if he had assaulted me or not." He had not actually assaulted her. She did not claim that he assaulted her. Only that she had this very creepy encounter with him and she left, "uneasy but unscathed."
  11. Well, assault is your word--she didn't make that allegation. In her account, she specifically mentions that she was not assaulted (in the context of Weinstein later not being able to remember whether he had "tried anything" with her. He had not. She said she got out of there "unscathed.") She is just telling the story of what she experienced. She didn't call it an assault in what I read. Also, it's worth pointing out that she arrived at the hotel for a professional meeting. She was then told to go to his room and he opened the door in his bathrobe. Then, he offered the 17 year old alcohol.
  12. Uh, this is the thread for the fight between TYTT and Turbo. If you want to flirt with Gugny, you can start a new thread called "Gugny: Here's Your Chance."
  13. Your sentence was, "The US can't play the game to the highest levels it achieves." Makes no sense.
  14. This is kind of a sweet tribute to the man. Someday it would look very nice on his gravestone. My only note would be to replace the word "maybe" with "oh dear god yes!"
  15. Congratulations, you have successfully stated the obvious. Even though your sentence makes no sense (I think maybe you meant to use the word "aspires" instead of "achieves," or something like that.) Anyway, bravo.
  16. If Laverne & Shirley never heard the word impossible, how do they even know what it is, proper usage, pronunciation, etc...? I'm calling schlemiel on that bull ****!
  17. Chile is a good team. I was surprised they got bounced. Agree to disagree about CONCACAF, I guess. I think 3.5 spots out of the 32 in the tournament is about right. Some not-so-great teams make it from the other regions too. Everybody can't be Germany or Brazil.
  18. It's not all that black and white. From top to bottom, obviously uefa tops concacaf. But in the last WC, Mexico, USA and Costa Rica all made it to the knockout rounds. Costa Rica won their group (over Italy, England and Uruguay) and very nearly made it to the semis. I think Mexico and CR could do well next summer too. Honduras and (maybe) Panama, not so much.
