Hmmm… I'd expect a little more depth of insight from our hall of fame hero. Stability at QB is good. O-line can do better, especially on the edges. Good D helps the O. Blah blah blah. Dull stuff from the old man.

I believe Casablanca was an original screenplay. Again, it's not that writers are running out of ideas. It's that douchey executives won't greenlight anything that isn't a pre-packaged cliché.

Yes, there is an unbelievable wealth of garbage. But there is some good stuff too--you just have to look out for it. There are a couple things that I'm thinking about going to see this weekend… A Serious Man - The new Cohn Bros. movie. No stars in this one. I'm hearing good things. If nothing else, you know this movie will be something directly from the artist. No tweaked ending based on douchebag demographics or any of that crap. Where The Wild Things Are - Yes, it's based on a familiar story, but Spike Jonz always brings a real artistic vision. The previews look very very good to me. I also want to see Zombieland, but I'm not going to try to defend that one. I just like zombies and this movie looks fun to me.

Can't blame writers. There are lots of talented writers out there. Blame the gutless producers and programming execs. And blame the opiated masses who keep choosing crap instead of seeking out quality work.

By the way, I didn't know Joan Fontaine was still among us. She was great (and gorgeous) in Rebecca and Suspicion. Happy Birthday!
