  1. Sure, I'll take a home in that neighborhood. Plus, I have a feeling Dave doesn't exactly show his face much at the block parties.
  2. Ratings are one thing. Quality is another. Conan is the guy who has the respect of people who appreciate good comedy. Leno gets better ratings (at 11:35). It's hard to make that point without insulting and alienating a huge chunk of the viewership.
  3. A friend of mine has the dvd of Conan's 10th Anniversary Special. I've watched it a couple times. It is comedy gold! If you like Conan at all, it will make you laugh very hard. In my opinion, Conan has a great talent for comedy. I really hope he finds his way back with a format that works for him. I'll always like Letterman too. The early days of Late Night were so great in a gonzo sort of way. I'll never forget how fun it was for me as a teenager to stay up late to watch that crazy show. Leno, you have never made me laugh. How you have weaseled your way to the top of the mountain, I have absolutely no idea. You are a comedy fraud. As far as the Tonight Show goes, I submit that it began a long slow journey to irrelevance about 25 years ago, when Carson got tame and Letterman emerged as the way cooler choice. I think that journey will be complete on Monday when Jay comes back.
  4. Actually, what asphinctersays is more like "ffffwwhhhaaaatttt!"
  5. What you're saying isn't really fair…to whores. At least whores get paid. Steely's really just basically an attention... slut I guess you'd have to say.
  6. Oh, good God, no! How much longer should this organization continue to reward incompetence?
  7. Ah, the old-timey "funamentals" style b-ball! Do they wear the short shorts? It's fun to mimic this style. Try it with your friends. Dribble only straight up and down with no carry, stop, use your pivot foot, and deliver a very precise two-hand bounce pass from high up on your chest. My favorite is to launch a very tastefull one-hand set shot or sort of half-hook toss shot from about 35 feet. (note: always announce these shots by shouting "Clyde Lovellette!" just before you launch).
  8. Life is scary. The kids will be ok though...some of them anyway.
  9. It was just a reference, to this, from Annie Hall.
  10. I feel maybe I was a bit harsh there. Here's a much better Canadian chick: Emannuelle Chriqui
  11. Had??? It's just gettin' started, right? Huh? Who's with me? [nudge, nudge] Right? Come on now... Let's get this party sta--aw, forget it.
  12. Ok, that's it. Good night everybody! Thanks for comin' out. Drive safe.
  13. True. He apparently prefers sitting in a make-up chair in his fancy suits to standing on a sideline. Still, it is a pretty bitter pill to swallow.
  14. Oh, really? Well, it just so happens I teach a class at Columbia called "TV, Media and Culture." So I think my insights into the Buffalo Bills, well, have a great deal of validity!
  15. Oof! They are just killing the Bills on NFLN. They went around the desk for "Buy or Sell: Gailey will get the Bills back to the playoffs." They all picked SELL and were emphatic about it. Then the last round was "Buy or Sell: Romo & Wade win a superbowl." They all bought it up. Then Rich Eisen had to comment basically that Bills fans must be biting their fists hearing this stuff.
  16. Fair enough. I'll suspend judgement until I hear him speak about how he's gonna build a winner here, and until I see which coordinators he gets.
  17. Apparently there's been some kind of shift change down here in hell. He's the guy whose gonna take over shoving pineapples up our asses for the next couple years.
  18. Ok, you're hired! Here's what your one year contract looks like: 0 to 7 wins, salary = $0.00 8 wins = $50,000 wildcard berth = $3,000,000 win AFC East = $5,000,000 make it to AFC Champ. game = $7,000,000 make it to Superbowl = $9,000,000 Win Superbowl = $15,000,000 Thank you and welcome to the organization!
  19. I actually really like Steely. There just seems to be this running thing where everybody rags on him. I don't know how it started. Maybe I overstepped a little? I mean, just because a guy is a despicable low life jackass, that doesn't make it ok for other people to pick on him all the time. Or does it?
