  1. What? That's how I show affection.
  2. Congratulations Beerball, to you and your daughter. You musta done something right!

  4. How the hell am I supposed to make it through this work week knowing that I have to wait until Friday to watch World Cup games?
  5. On the one hand, I feel pretty good about my intellectual superiority to these idiotic micro-organisms. On the other hand, I feel quite ripped off that they are incapable of appreciating just how superior I am and showing me the respect that I deserve. I guess now I know how Tom feels all the time.
  6. That sucks about Drogba. Weird Chelsea / WC curse. Ballack and Essien are already out. Of course John Terry and Frank Lampard are ready to go.
  7. Yes, I think so. The ABC broadcast starts at 2:30, but kickoff will probably be 3 or a just after.
  8. I know what you’re saying, but I don’t think Andy Kaufman deserves this comparison. Even if you don’t think he’s funny, he was a good person who believed in free thinking and tried to inspire people and expose bigotry. In many ways, the opposite of the WBC nuts.
  9. The most difficult thing for me to understand in this world is how... a) a person can be so damaged and screwed up that they could become this evil, b) that a person this screwed up could still be functional enough to have influence, and c) that they could find like-minded lunatics to join them and actually organize their insane efforts. In my opinion, this phenomenon is the worst thing that exists in the world. And I do not understand it. It makes me want to secede from the human race.
  10. Oh, my God, I can't wait! I realize that if the U.S. loses, it's not the end of the world. They would still likely be able to make it out of the group. But in the unlikely event they pull off the upset, it will be a memory that I will cherish forever! For me, it would be on the level of a Bills Superbowl.
  11. I know now why you jackasses won’t let me win this thread. It’s because I’m TOO HOT, isn’t it?
  12. REMINDER: USA vs. Australia on Saturday 6/5 at 8:30am ET. Broadcast live on ESPN2. This is the last warm-up game before the real thing. Apparently Altidore had an injury scare in training. Ankle injury, turned out to not be as serious as it initially looked. He will most likely sit for tomorrow’s friendly but they’re saying he’s no problem to play 6/12 against England.
  13. Well, that’s a fine how-do-you-do!
  14. Nice to see them kind of "get it" as the game progressed. The first half was very sloppy. I was surprised by how excellent Torres and Findley looked in the second half. And Holden came on late and played great. I just love his game! Again, Bornstein? Besides Bornstein, there is exactly one person on the planet who thinks Bornstein deserves to be in the World Cup. Unfortunately, that person is Bob Bradley. Maybe Onyewu will prove me wrong and get quality minutes in South Africa. We'll take whatever we can get on that back line. It won't always look pretty. Donovan and Dempsey did not disappoint. The team fought hard and really improved their quality of play as the game went on. I think this game will be good for their confidence.
  15. AJ, you're a good ****. Have a great birthday weekend!
  16. That’s not the first death threat I’ve received in this thread. I must be doing something right.
  17. Bravery and sacrifice not forgotten.
  18. If anything happens and I stop breathing, for the love of God, just let me die!
  19. I agree with this completely. I hope Holden is ready for full speed for 90 minutes. He had a broken leg / ankle (I’ve heard it reported both ways) not too long ago. I love Holden’s playmaking creativity. I also would like to see Feilhaber get quality minutes in the midfield. He’s been very inconsistent over the past few years, but when he is on, I think his touch and vision are world class. (I know that many people do not share this opinion.) I like Gomez and Buddle as offensive subs. I would have liked Ching too (but that’s another thing I’m in the minority on).
  20. USA vs. Turkey, 1:30pm ET on ESPN2 Yesterday they met Pres. Obama. Tomorrow they play Turkey. Sunday they fly to S. Africa. One more warm-up game on 6/5 against Australia and then the real thing against England on 6/12. Tomorrow’s Turkey game should be more encouraging than the Czech game. I expect a much better lineup this time.
  21. Yes, I didn't mean to question his talent. He is clearly a truly great coach. I just wanted to point out that for somebody like that the idea of coaching team USA would not be viewed as an exciting possibility to really prove something. Instead, it would be viewed as a complete joke and a waste of time. Part of that is based on reality and part is due to the fact that the European soccer intelligentsia is reluctant to even admit that USA soccer exists.
  22. Even I could coach Chelsea to CL title. And by "coach," I mean sit on the sideline drinking. And by that, I mean that I see Mourinho as a "Titles Only" kind of coach. Like Phil Jackson. I don't picture him taking on a project like team USA. I could be wrong, but I think he'd make it about 6 months, during which time all he'd do is complain publicly about the lack of talent to work with.
