  1. Yeah, the same pattern keeps getting repeated: they come out flat, give up the first goal (or two!) and then try to fight back in the second half. They did it all throughout the world cup. And they've done it way too many times against inferior CONCACAF competition. It is true that the teams in this region are improving quite a bit, but I've seen enough to seriously question this team's preparation. We definitely saw evidence of their heart from the way they played from behind in the WC. And we know they have enough talent to dominate in CONCACAF. It's time to add the element of INTELLIGENCE so that we can move to the next level.
  2. The Gringos stunk up the place on Saturday and lost to Panama 2-1. A sad day in U.S. soccer history. We had never lost a game in the Gold Cup group stage before. And it's the first loss ever to Panama. (A glorious day in Panamanian soccer history no doubt). Next up is the final group game on Tues. (6/14) night against Guadeloupe. I'm hoping for a much much better showing.
  3. July 17 is what the docs say. It's comin' fast.
  4. I’m not surprised about the effects of coffee. I see caffeine-induced psychosis among my idiot co-workers all the time. What struck me in the article is that even the control group said they could hear the song. The buzzed once on average per three minutes of white noise. It makes me mad to consider how idiotically suggestible the average dingbat is. Makes me want to drink 15 cups of coffee, stip naked and go running through the streets on a murderous rampage while singing “White Christmas” at the top of my lungs.
  5. Really good, thanks! He/she is still cookin' in there. ETA July 17.
  6. Yup, Javier Hernandez. Goes by "Chicharito." He plays for Man. United. Natural goal scorer. Amazing player.
  7. So so stupid. The kid was wearing his seatbelt. He just leaned over to feel the wind on his face for a second. The cop had several options... Do nothing at all. Pull 'em over to give the kid a warning and a valuable lesson in safety. but Give a ticket to a 10 year old.
  8. USA 2, CAN 0 Goals from Altidore and Dempsey. Tim Howard looked absolutely world class, making a couple great saves when he needed to. Overall, it was kind of a boring game, but the US did what they wanted to. They maintained possession and controlled the tempo. They pretty much dominated throughout. If they wanted to be more aggressive, I think it could have been a blowout. They took a fairly conservative approach to secure the win and start off the tournament the right way. Well done. Definitely some sloppy moments, but good for the first A-team showing in a while, against the most talented Canada team in a long time. They should improve as the tournament goes on. Chances are, they'll meet a very strong Mexico (who won their first game 5-0) in the final on June 25. USA plays Panama next on Sat. 6/11 at 8pm ET.
  9. Stop tossing the ball so high.
  10. Yup, I watched it. Really entertaining game. So so much talent on display. Those damn Spaniards with their unbelievably precise passing! They've been dominating the game for the last three years. That U.S friendly was an absolute clinic. The difference in terms of touch, vision and control was staggering. I'm really starting to feel like this team has gone as far as it can with Bob Bradley. I'm with you--I'd like to see an elite coach from across the pond with experience winning on a big stage.
  11. They had a warm-up friendly today against Spain and looked horrible, but they should clean up against Canada, Panama and Gaudeloupe in the group stage. Go USA! (haters, flame away)
  12. In my opinion Kevorkian was a hero! I admire the man. RIP.
  13. Interesting that great whites like AC/DC and yet would not be caught dead listening to Great White.
  14. Oh, I'm so sorry, Mead. My sincerest condolences.
  15. Look, nobody's putting on any bikinis and sure as hell nobody's dressing up like a cowboy! So far, we've managed to keep this thread classy. Let's not sully our reputation with any cheap tawdry displays of gratuitious sauciness. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get fitted for my new banana hammock.
  16. I think the vast majority here in Atlanta will not even notice they're gone.
  17. The last thing you want to do is spill your dippin' dots just before the finish.
