  1. Is this true? I assume this is true. Wow.
  2. Agreed. His point was inane…completely lacking context and nuance. McDermott and Beane have been successful in Buffalo. I can’t imagine anyone debating that. But that doesn’t mean they’re the right fit to move forward. It’s one thing to improve from laughing stock to playoff contender. It’s quite another to improve from playoff contender to champion.
  3. I agree “we could do a lot worse” seems to be the standard. And if you subscribe to that then it can’t be argued. So be it. But Allen has already proven he can’t deliver a championship by elevating the players around him and carrying the load. The guy’s brain explodes due to the OL (which continues to be an afterthought for Beane). Something needs to change with personnel or play design.
  4. They turned the franchise around and deserve credit for that. But they haven’t been “true SB contenders.” Based on their various degrees of playoff implosion, there’s still a brick wall separating legit SB contention. The question is whether the current direction of the roster, cap situation, and defense-oriented outlook will get them any closer.
  5. It’s not about failing to reach expectations. It’s about HOW they failed which falls on McDermott. I still believe McDermott’s seat gets hotter if the Bills get blown out again in the playoffs as opposed to missing the wildcard cut at 10-7.
  6. Emulate? The point is that these extensions are gestures not commitments as previously exemplified around the league. McDermott and Beane don’t have a multi-year free pass if the team continues to sputter.
  7. I was shocked he hung around in the league. Good for him.
  8. Nice gesture by Pegula. But according to the Cardinals, these extensions aren’t iron clad commitments…thankfully.
  9. GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!!!
  10. Why would Cowherd discuss middling players like McGovern, Shell, Sherfield, Harty, Shakir, Ford, etc. on a national program? Floyd would be somewhat notable if he was enhancing the defense instead of replacing Miller. I assume he mentioned the Broncos OL because McGlinchey and Powers are actually legitimate starters.
  11. The Bills would trade any player on the roster (other than Allen) "under the right circumstances." The problem is that circumstances surrounding a Diggs trade include dead moolah.
  12. Chatter on AZ radio is that in addition to his contract demands, Hopkins is adamant about practicing less during the week (he apparently doesn’t practice Wednesdays?) which is turning off potential suitors.
  13. I stopped reading at “EPA.” But I think the point is that it’s not realistic in today’s game to expect to win a championship by featuring a shut down defense.
  14. The helmet is neat but should’ve went with a clean white uni. Gray-on-gray isn’t as obnoxious as the Bills blue-on-blue, but it effectively neuters the helmet.
  15. “Josh” needs to work on those soft knees.
  16. I’d bump the Bills to 6. But honestly, 3-8 could be argued in any order. AFC (+AFCE) is a gauntlet.
  17. McDermott game plans for tendencies, scenarios, and personnel packages. There’s a pre-scripted design for what to call and when. I’ll grant there may be a couple plays per game where McDermott would’ve called something entirely different. But McDermott would certainly weigh in on crucial calls. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a fan’s tendency to attach hope to this coaching tweak.
  18. Likely true. But a more practical change will be when McDermott needs to devote extra time in the defensive huddles, he’ll have his right-hand man picking up HC responsibilities.
  19. …more specifically, what being a defensive coach under McDermott can do for you.
  20. It’s been McDermott’s defense all along. If he didn’t like something about the play-calling, he would’ve already addressed it and it wouldn’t require Frazier - a subordinate - leaving to do so.
  21. If the issue involves personal drama and manifests within cliques and on social media, then I’d expect a vet like Morse to both not care and actively avoid it. On the other hand, reporters aren’t “nosey” for pursuing it. It’s their job to break stories and, these days, particularly those the drooling masses will lap up.
  22. Top 2: - Move on from McDermott and Beane. McDermott isn’t a fit for a QB-centric team and gets out-coached in nearly every big spot. Bills are right back in cap jail, in part, due to Beane’s poor drafts. - Devote an entire off-season to revamping the OL with at least 3-4 new (legitimate) starters.
  23. This is standard. You’re only noticing now because it involves a Bills story. At least some of the stories actually reference the source so the reader understands it’s duplicative “reporting.” Also, problems 1 and 2 in the OP are entirely believable.
  24. No idea if/when Miller will return and play effectively. DL, overall, is still more quantity than quality. Edmunds departed and wasn’t replaced. White, Hyde, and Poyer are still major concerns post-injury. Still not sure if there’s a #2 corner on the roster. I’d say the “top 5” rhetoric is a long shot.
  25. It’s not “click bait.” There will be a lot more of this throughout the summer. We may need a single national media thread where posters can work through the fact the Bills aren’t the favorites anymore.
