  1. People are too hung up on fairness these days. RBs have durability concerns because of the pounding they take. It’s important to have a good one, but they’re expendable because there’s plenty of good ones out there…and usually cheaper, younger, or healthier. It’s isn’t necessarily fair to each one maximizing their financial value. Too bad.
  2. To answer the question, the Bills are more likely missing the playoffs all together than winning the AFC championship. Making the Super Bowl is always a long shot (except for the Chiefs). Better question would’ve been missing the playoffs or reaching the AFC championship. I’d be surprised if the Bills finish outside of 9-11 wins. Call it 10-7 and that’s no guarantee to win the division nor make the playoffs. Dolphins and Jets should both be near that same win range (I think Dolphins take the division).
  3. 13?! Take the under.
  4. Nothing wrong with salvaging a shred of value for a player you’re just about to cut.
  5. While Jones is the worst QB of the group, I think Daboll salvages something. Vote Carr.
  6. He has plenty left in the tank. The issues were money demands, reduced practice schedule demands, and leadership/locker room concerns. Still potentially a great signing for the Titans.
  7. Agreed. They’re returning both Dawkins and Brown because of cap necessity. Those two alone could cripple the line. McGovern is a fringe starter forced into added responsibility like Bates last year. Torrence hype is wishful thinking. Nice (no-brainer) pick, but expecting high level/consistent contribution from him this season is a reach. Morse has been terrific, but between age, concussions, and cap hit, he’s no lock. And no center was added. Dawkins-Torrence-Bates-McGovern-Brown is a looming disaster. It would be nice if the OL hinged on the ever-present risk on injuries. That’s expected. But alas, this OL hinges on every starter surpassing past performance to be above average.
  8. Another issue is Allen imploding under pressure, whether by costly turnover, inaccurate throw, or bungled sneak. These sorts of analyses by Bills fans are problematic because they’re often built on the faulty premise that Allen is elite. Elite arm strength and athleticism, sure. But elite QB? No. His inconsistency is part of this problem.
  9. A next-level analysis would need to also look at who, specifically, is getting the money - not just the position group. A player may earn a lucrative extension, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the team had allocated that money for the position, at least philosophically.
  10. This is interesting. Adds valuable perspective to a lot of recent debates. 👍
  11. Training staff deserves recognition. The post itself got the eyes.
  12. Based on immediate cap savings of $1M+, the cut candidates this summer are Morse, Hines, Neal, Phillips, Epenesa, Gilliam, and Sherfield.
  13. Not surprised people are entertained by this.
  14. Miller is annoying. He’ll be cut in two years and will have never felt like a Bill.
  15. It could be if it weren’t so obviously scripted.
  16. They should’ve been the focus all along.
  17. Surprised Rose held on this long. My weekend would really take flight seeing a few of the Around the Horn clowns axed.
  18. Are they open to suggestions?
  19. Bottom line is that Allen imploded against the Texans (‘19) and Chiefs (‘20) and was ineffective against the Dolphins and Bengals (‘22). He was terrific in ‘21, but McDermott wasted it. It’s frustrating how competitive the Bills have become but yet the end result continues to be disastrous somehow.
  20. I’m not sure “revered” is the right term here…
  21. They were saved by a soft schedule. All true. They've addressed depth, not talent. By this point, Beane should have earmarked a first round pick and big money free agent for the OL. Instead it's deck chairs.
  22. Imagine if the Bills had a good running game, good offensive line, good WR depth, and seasoned play caller! But they don’t. This is about Allen. The unfortunate reality is that Allen’s elite traits are athleticism and arm strength which, on their own, don’t make a good QB. A guy like Mahomes, for example, has elite vision and accuracy which can compensate for potential weaknesses. Allen needs to be fine-tuned, controlled, and supported. This includes your run game and misdirection.
  23. It’s quite a large body of work to consider for him to be the best. Hard to pinpoint. In fact, I don’t think he’ll ever be the best nor needs to be the best. His playing style will always have pitfalls. It’s about fine tuning across the board and minimizing gaffes.
  24. Allen needs to improve his poise, accuracy, timing, touch, footwork, ball security, decision making, and overall consistency of execution.
  25. Not yet. The concern with this Bills regime is trajectory. Under McDermott/Beane, they improved, became a playoff contender, and advanced from wildcard round to the Chiefs matchups. Last year was a step back and one wonders if Allen-to-Davis at :13 in the ‘22 divisional round was this regime’s peak. Now that they’re back in cap jail, settling for recycled one-year vets to fill out the roster, continuing to prioritize DL over OL, not seeing development from draftees, and seemingly everyone else in the AFC is improving…it’s a fair question.
