  1. The way to get this team over the hump is to support Allen. Not upgrading offensive tackle, or even adding competent depth or competition, is a failure.
  2. It just so happens this particular weakness is the second most important position on the team.
  3. Does this include his bumbled sneaks or just passing?
  4. Agreed. Good sign for an OL. Hopefully he performs well and stays healthy as he’s been a bit inconsistent throughout his career. Decent player though, and it won’t take much to be an upgrade over Saffold. They were not competition for McGovern’s spot.
  5. McGovern stepped in day 1 because he had literally no one to compete with for the spot.
  6. I'm not particularly excited about the class, but I appreciate they went offense with the top choices. Torrence will have the most opportunity to contribute in year 1 - due to both the nature of his position and lack of competition around him. Have to expect an adjustment for Kincaid, but hopefully he contributes as a rotational piece year 1 and becomes a primary target year 2. Williams and Shorter are developmental projects so who really knows at this point. They do have needed upside.
  7. Good point. I wouldn’t say it’s an unpopular consideration. More under the radar, also realistic. He can’t be counted on.
  8. Nice job OP. Springboarding off preseason G1: QB - J. Allen, Barkley (2) RB - Cook, Harris, Murray (3) FB - Gilliam (1) WR - Diggs, Davis, Sherfield, Harty, Shakir, Isabella (6) TE - Knox, Kincaid, Morris (3) OT - Dawkins, Brown, Quessenberry, Doyle (4) IOL - Morse, McGovern, Bates, Torrence, Edwards (5) DE - Rousseau, Epenesa, Floyd, Basham (4 - Miller PUP) DT - Oliver, Jones, Phillips, Settle, Ford (5) LB - Milano, Dodson, Bernard, Williams, Klein, Matakevich (6) CB - White, Jackson, Johnson, Benford, Elam, Neal (6) S - Poyer, Hyde, Rapp, Lewis, Hamlin (5) K - Bass (1) P - Martin (1) LS - Ferguson (1) Notable cuts: K. Allen, Shorter, Sternberger, Boettger, Lawson, Spector, Marlowe
  9. Lots of posts in the thread when he signed that he’s better than Brown or would push him for the starting job.
  10. Good depth for the Pats. Stevenson will remain the feature back. And I still think Strong becomes something.
  11. I’m always bewildered when posters recycle this argument. It has to be the most superficial approach to assessing drafts.
  12. Who from the supposed DL depth pool is going to fetch a proven OL? Basham? No. This ship has sailed. Beane’s sole addition to OT retired after the first preseason game. It’s quite remarkable they’re still in this position at OL.
  13. Truly bizarre analysis even for a fan board. Alas, hope springs eternal.
  14. Chiefs have an edge at QB, OL, WR, TE, RB, LB, and CB. Probably also DL or call it a push.
  15. Good news on Doyle. I want him to get a fair shake at this thing.
  16. Ok. But the offense needed an upgrade. Also, McKenzie was released.
  17. There’s a difference between grabbing in physical man coverage and grabbing to regain position.
  18. Essentially. Multi-year deal and $5M guaranteed. He’s a rather underwhelming replacement for McKenzie, but the Hines injury nearly guarantees his spot as a returner no matter the cap hit.
  19. No. Possible exception being Rapp in the sense he may become the star addition if he finds a hybrid role on the defense to play and contribute regularly.
  20. Fair. Perhaps that’s what saves him. That and the injury to Hines out of necessity.
  21. Beane won’t swallow a draft pick so quickly. He’ll suck that egg. Sounds like the Harty/Isabella competition got a little tighter though which is a good thing.
  22. Too bad. Worst part is it moves a scrub like Quessenberry closer to the field. Tackle situation is less than ideal.
  23. Good to hear about Torrence. 💪
