  1. As you know, they won close/laborious games against bad teams in the second half and then got dominated by Cincy. Don’t have to apologize for the record of course. But the point here is to hopefully ascend.
  2. Can't hide behind "preseason" when these issues were apparent last year. The Steelers game was just more of the same.
  3. Allen is panicked behind this OL. You feel the pressure ratchet up when he steps behind center on obvious sneak calls. For all his own faults, i.e. accuracy, ball security, composure, I still attribute a lot of the inconsistency to him becoming a happy feet hero within an offense he doesn’t trust.
  4. A third tier FA and 2nd round guard isn’t good enough. Dawkins and Brown both struggled last season.
  5. Bills simply can’t afford this in terms of both the cap and the compensation.
  6. This exercise is getting painful. A lot riding on Davis and Knox having breakout (bounce back) seasons. Because that OL, that WR depth, untested RB…yeesh. On the other side, no reason to think that DL can control the line of scrimmage. LBs, forget it. Jackson can be anointed CB2, because Elam is lost. Fingers crossed Hyde and Poyer can hold up.
  7. May need to lower your expectations and try to appreciate the entertainment value in it all.
  8. Hometown allegiance. A bond strong enough to tolerate this franchise.
  9. The game was meaningful. Not to draw conclusions in isolation, but in the sense it added to the greater story. It was yet another example justifying ongoing concerns about, for example, OL, MLB, and Elam. That’s where the frustration comes from.
  10. Dominating stud for sure!
  11. Plenty of dumb nicknames already. He’s better off without one.
  12. Counting on Bernard at this point is a rather precarious position.
  13. Why did you edit your post instead of just replying to my response?
  14. Good perspective. I don’t think either of them ever contributes much. But Shakir is the known commodity and already earned his way onto the roster as a mid round rookie. For better or worse, that’s cachet in this conversation. But Shakir/Shorter isn’t either/or. There’s a path for both. I think the more interesting debate is Isabella - who has flashed - vs. Harty - whom Beane gifted a payday.
  15. There’s a reason he generated little interest in free agency and circled back to this regime’s de$ire for familiarity.
  16. Fair. You may draw two kinds of conclusions here: 1) positive hype conclusions; and 2) conclusions that no one cares about, i.e. Quintin Morris. Any other conclusions, such as critical conclusions about starters, shall be dismissed as “only preseason.”
  17. For example, Elam took a bad PI and got physically dominated in the red zone by a second stringer. It’s not simply a “week 2 preseason game” knowing his past inconsistencies and the fact the coaches don’t yet trust him. In this case, his play tonight drives home the reality that the only remaining question about his status on this roster is whether he dresses for gamedays.
  18. I’ve read we’re not to draw conclusions from preseason games. That being said, he did look smooth. Hopefully his inevitable TE adjustment period is fleeting.
  19. The scary part is the OL is settled.
  20. It’s a preseason game with plenty of context and history behind it. I think a lot of fans are frustrated because they recognized what they saw. “Top 5 roster” is cliched fluff.
  21. Imagine losing Edmunds and doing nothing at MLB.
  22. Perhaps Bills get some little league points here.
  23. Evans trying for hustle credit.
