Elam is Beane’s albatross. Bills can’t put him on the field and no other team made offers.

It was assumption. Too much circumstantial evidence to call it speculation.

Age. Cap space. Stockpiling picks. Not a core player. They plucked him off a practice squad. Signed him to one deal which they re-structured. And then flipped him for a 3rd. Perhaps simply time to cash the investment.

R3 pick is significant value. R5 pick is a throwaway. We know R4 is where draft value separates. Quantity on day 3 doesn't offset losing a day 1/2 pick.

He certainly doesn't suck. He's just not a difference maker. Good fit - and I hoped last year the Bills would have a shot at him in free agency. Certainly wouldn't have surrendered a 3rd rd pick for him.
