I’m not so sure. They got beat by a hot QB. Gut-wrenching disappointment must be ripped from the jaws of imminent success - typically in bizarre or unique fashion - to be truly billsy.
Age. Cap space. Stockpiling picks. Not a core player.
They plucked him off a practice squad. Signed him to one deal which they re-structured. And then flipped him for a 3rd. Perhaps simply time to cash the investment.
R3 pick is significant value. R5 pick is a throwaway. We know R4 is where draft value separates. Quantity on day 3 doesn't offset losing a day 1/2 pick.
He certainly doesn't suck. He's just not a difference maker. Good fit - and I hoped last year the Bills would have a shot at him in free agency. Certainly wouldn't have surrendered a 3rd rd pick for him.
