He seems to read coverage pretty well, but he doesn't trust his arm. He sees the spot, will hesitate, and then throw late or off-balance. At worst, he's a noodle arm. At best, he's a good athlete and a captain check-down.

Quite an odd list so far, but alas, it's dumb offseason filler. Miller seems a touch low. Allen should be top 20. Diggs top 40. Perhaps Hyde a surprise top 50.

Remaining roster battles: DE Lawson v Love DT Phillips v Bryant LB Matakevich v Spector QB Keenum v Barkley RB Duke v Jones WR Kumerow v Hodgins TE Sweeney v trade OL Ford v Tenuta

Bills need help at OL and DB, but it's more likely they just dump Hodgins/Kumerow/Ford/Sweeney/DJ for a 7th. Hopefully not. Would like to see Bryant or Love earn a DL spot.

Trade market is dry because the 49ers may cut him. And at this point in the preseason, there's only a couple potential suitors to bid against on the open market. Mayfield trade return also having an impact. Teams have no reason to offer a decent draft pick.

Hodgins can excel as the gameday healthy scratch.

Shakir was the best of the rookies. Elam had several nice plays and just as many poor ones where he was lost or beat and grabbing. Encouraging performances overall from the group.

…against practice squaders. Keenum played with backups against Colt starters.

Spector > Edmunds?

The fact Dane didn’t play suggests he’s a starter. Both Elam and Benford made a couple good plays and looked decent overall today. Good to see. Big upside, but early season is a huge concern. Likely concussion protocol for Elam, hopefully precautionary. Liked his jib today!

Keenum looks off obviously, but that second string OL is putrid. Ford? Hart? Capra? Come on.

The “somebody told me” thing is silly, but these are still facts - Elam was inconsistent in college with raw, undeveloped technique. Plenty of observers weren’t thrilled with the pick. As expected, he’s struggled early in camp. He is not, and never was, dependable as an immediate starter as a rookie.

Content/debate shows are scripted to be controversial or at least argumentative. The "opinions" offered are worthless outside of mindless, filler entertainment. That being said, Allen does need to find more consistency. Bills fans are eating the hype and pretending his playoff performance was the norm last year. Half of his games were under 60% completion and 250 yards passing, including a game against the worst team in the league where he couldn't make a single play.

If Elam gets his hands on you it's over...as in, he'll get called for holding. He was grabby in college. I was worried about the OL. But lordy, corners are a wreck.

Elam struggling as expected by a lot of people. Can't count on him to start the season.

Respect he "deserves"...yawn. Allen has elite traits, elite upside, perhaps elite scariness. Top 3, arguably could be #1 in those particular categories. As far as "best" current QB is concerned, Allen has been wildly inconsistent. Slot him at #5 right now.

Allen was so inconsistent last year. Couldn’t complete a pass against Jags, Jets. May be the most overrated player in the league.
