His new contract (with a new team) depends on how he plays in Buffalo this year and whether he remains healthy. Somebody will no doubt overpay him on a 3-year deal next spring.

Even before his injury /even before this contract, Poyer should not be extended. Can't keep extending these 30-year-olds. He's had a fine run with the Bills. Let him earn a new contract elsewhere as a *1 and done* with the Bills. Draft a safety in '23.

The fact Andre Smith isn't cut already suggests Bills are still oddly enamored with him. Perhaps Spector makes the initial 53, but loses his spot when Smith returns. Also a better chance to sneak him through waivers. Because you overrate your favorite team's players.
