Gross. I’d be shocked if Beane went back to the RB well considering the already ridiculous investment there.

Win the SB.  CMC in this offense creates all sorts of problems for Defenses

Lets can the OBJ talk, we dont need a prima dona WR here, why risk/disrupt possibly the best offense in the NFL.

I understand this point....but the benefits of adding him greatly outweigh any cons to me.  Look at Diggs.... "Diva"

Yeah that’s a good point.  The other thing to consider though, is that Josiah Anderson, who is close with OBJ, seemed to indicate that he is interested in coming back to NYG.  She also refuted claims that it wasn’t more than a recruiting visit, though I still don’t believe it was officially reported as a FA visit.

If the Giants can somehow split with Dalls/Philly, I think they have a shot at the WC, and given their meh WR crew, the move to NJ might make sense

I do recall that, but Ian Rap had an article yesterday...teams mentioned were Bills, Rams, Chiefs, Packers and Bucs

I don't think is a hot take either. I think this kid has serious potential and its been said over and over that if he was taken in the 3rd round no one would have thought twice. I still don't understand how he lasted as long as he did. He has an interesting body type but he's muscular and I think will have a much easier time staying healthy than McKenzie. I think this kid is going to be a serious player in this league and it was a case of the rich getting richer. Yesterday was a great start but I think the job will be his exclusively and McKenzie will settle back into role player mode. There is some special talent with Shakir and he's got juice too in addition to the toughness we saw on his contested catch.

Shakir seems to have subtle moves and a unique running style that makes him harder to defend
Ideally, we would use McKenzie's speed more than we have so far.  More motion / designed end arounds

I can’t quite figure out whether OBJ rumors are legit.  If the Bills sign him, he’s going to likely bump Shakir or Crowder (once he returns) off the roster.  If you were going to add to a position group on the roster, you otherwise wouldn’t add to WR.

Im not sure if OBJ is as big of a priority as Von Miller makes you believe but I guess we’ll see.

He’ll be on IR all season long

I would assume Crowder would just be IR all season/released.  I don't think Von speaks on it as much as he has unless he's very confident Odell is at least seriously considering signing here.  Beane also did not deny interest

Don’t agree with this entirely. Crowder could easily be put on the IR and he’s not. They expect him back sooner than later.

but your point about McKenzie is correct. He’s good in certain situations and with certain expectations. I think he would and should be the starter at slot if Shakir hadn’t progressed so well. And I’d have absolute faith that he would be fine there.

the point about Shakir is 100% correct though. He has not only earned at least opportunities and splitting time on the field. He has shown he has something that the other guys don’t. He’s going to be a very good player going forward.

He was put on IR Saturday when Hodgins was signed to the 53.  Once Kumerow is back:

    Diggs

    Davis

    McKenzie/Shakir
    Kumerow/Hodgins

  6. What are your thoughts on this receiving group going forward?

Assuming McKenzie is healthy next week, Shakir looks to have earned getting significant snaps.  He's already shown he can line up in the slot or outside.
When Diggs or Davis need a play or two off, Shakir takes those snaps. He can also split time with Isaiah in the slot.

In 10 Personnel :  Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, Shakir

Let's say we go "all in" and acquire another weapon at WR in the next month, whether it's OBJ or someone unexpected via trade.
I believe this is sensible as both added insurance and also to make this team even more unstoppable.

    Diggs
    Davis

    *Sign/Trade

    Mckenzie
    Shakir

    Kumerow

    Hodgins

    Stevenson
    Gentry

A bit of intrigue would be if Marquez Stevenson is healthy later in the season.  Has he shown the staff enough to warrant playing time?  I personally don't believe he has earned it, but I wasn't at Mini camp or Training Camp

*If we add OBJ and line him up outside in 11 personnel....Diggs can line up in the slot which is a huge mismatch and he's shown to be elite when lined up there.
No defense in the league has the capability to deal with a Diggs, Davis, OBJ package.   Add Shakir and McKenzie rotating in, with occasional 5WR spreads..... scary

I will also say that team chemistry should be considered when adding a new WR.   The fact that Diggs is friends with OBJ, openly stated he'd like him here and of course Von; it makes a lot of sense to me. Others may disagree and that's fine, I get it

On paper or in the Madden video game, CMC or Saquon make a ton of sense. But in the real world i can't see making a commitment to 2 oft-injured RB's in a blockbuster trade, mortgaging high draft picks on them before the trade deadline. I just dont think its the answer here. We havent even made a commitment to run with the rb's we have now when its been successful. I'd rather spend the draft capital on shoring up our oline & drafting a rb on a cost controlled deal who can be the guy going forward.

I don’t disagree, but CMC or Saquon simply being on the field could help our passing game. Especially the deep throws. Defenses are not concerned about Devin Singletary enough to drop a safety into the box

Regardless if someone thinks me may or may not make a trade for him, the cap issue isn't as bad as people think and your cap info here is not accurate.  First, he already restructured his contract this year, so his cap hit this year is a min base salary.  Then the acquiring team is responsible for just $12M a year for the remaining 3 years because the guarantees also stay with the Panthers.

BUT...$12M a year is still a lot, however, Bills can cut him with no cap hit if the injuries persist or he flames out.  There is also still the option to redo his deal as well, and might even be something arranged before the trade if we were to include a premium pick.

Not saying we are trading for him, just saying most people have the cap info about this potential trade wrong.

oh wow, thank you I did not know that his cap hit this year was minimum base

Close the thread why? Did you not read the title? It says Trade Deadline Rumors / Speculation. If you don’t like it, don’t bother posting.

No one said it was true.

Someone tweeting at Joe Buscaglia needs to make better ***** up.

    bottom to top:

Yes, dollars can be retained on a deal.  For example, this happened with Mayfield to the Panthers.

No, Beane is not going to trade a first round pick for a half-year rental of an almost 26 yr old RB who is due $7.2M in salary for this season, then hits FA next season.  Especially, he's not going to make that trade for an RB who has had 2.25 good seasons in 4.25 years.

In case you haven't been paying attention, the Giants are 3-1 and, to turn the culture around, Daboll ideally needs to replicate what McDermott did: lead them to a winning record and perhaps a playoff appearance if 9-7 will get you there.  Barkley is responsible for about 60% of their offense, and trading him would make that impossible.

In contrast, down in Carolina Matt Rhule is in his 3rd season and is nearing "Stand and Deliver" time (if he isn't already there).  McCaffrey is currently close to 40% of their offense, and Scott Fitterer would really need a bodyguard (and a damned good reason) if he starts holding a fire sale.   From the Bills side, McCaffrey is under contract for 3 more years, but at $11.8-$12M/yr.  With Josh Allen's salary about to take off, and the need to keep paying Diggs, start paying Knox, and keep paying our OLas well as D  - we can not afford this.

    how about McCaffrey restructured?

  11. Someone tweeted at Joe Buscaglia claiming to have a source in the building at OBD that we are going to be making a blockbuster trade sending our 1st for an RB

IF that were true, what do you guys think?

1st, Moss for Saquon Barkley, 4th

    1st, Moss for Christian McCaffrey

my darkhorse would be Dalvin Cook

does anyone know if $ can be retained on a deal? Or how does that work
