yes you have dead cap hits, but you’re also saving $ and IF IF IF there are real issues, fractured relationships, negative attitudes behind the scenes….you’re moving on from that too PLUS adding draft capital IMO the way most are approaching this situation is like we’re paying huge amounts of additional $$$ penalty if he’s off the team. That’s not it at all. He’s being paid no matter what. But, we’d actually save money and cap space by moving him (unless I’m completely ignorant and if so I apologize haha) Professional sports teams move on from contracts all the time and still pay $ to the coaches or players years after the fact. Obviously it’s not ideal, but it can help your team in multiple ways too

Diggs + 2025 3rd + 2024 6th to Houston For 23rd overall Bills going into the draft with 23 & 28 gives us the chance to get pretty high if we wanted Nabers. Perhaps a move up from 23 to Seattle at 16 to ensure Brian Thomas Jr. Or maybe you even hit the jackpot by staying at those picks and landing Thomas Jr + Troy Franklin IMO it comes down to what the actual relationship is between the Bills and Allen with Diggs. If the Bills don’t like what’s going on behind the scenes…. Or Diggs may have said to them he’d prefer to be elsewhere…. Then 60/40 he’s traded because Pegula saves a bucket of physical cash & the team gets rid of a headache (in theory!!!) I’m not in the organization and have no way of knowing what actually goes on with Diggs Josh Allen is not the kind of person to throw a team mate under the bus in the media. Even if he actually wanted a fresh start from Diggs….no one would know about it. Maybe not even Beane or Sean. & yes I agree he could absolutely tear it up if a legit player is added to help him

But…you’re paying $ regardless? So it comes down to how much both sides want to continue this the way I’m viewing this is: 27.8 million cap = Diggs on the team. Cool. Maybe he’s still elite WR1. But, there’s risk his attitude is a negative or his play declines 18.1 million cap = Diggs traded for 9.7 million cap savings + valuable asset gained + fresh start for Josh Allen

So wait, his current cap hit is 27.8 mil and a trade pre 6/1 frees up 9.7 mil in cap space this year? Am I looking at that right? If Terry Pegula is saving 18.5 million in actual cash & the Bills are gaining cap space of 9.7 this year, 14.8 in 2025 and 21 mil in 2026…. IMO those things make a trade before 3/17 much more likely than originally thought

Am I correct that a Trade of Diggs (pre 3/17 when he’s due 18.5 mil in cash) would cost us only an extra 3.25 or 3.5 mil in addition to his current hit against the cap this year? Can someone please verify or give the correct figures? If Diggs is staying, we should try to do what we didn’t do last year. We COULD have signed Hopkins for what he went for. The cap hits were doable. He was good on a bad team with average QB play at best. If he was here, it may have been the difference against KC. Beane won’t bother, but we should try to go after Mike Evans. Offer him 2 for 20per + incentives. Add void years and make the cap hit low enough. I’m guessing he wants 3 for 25 per though. So Beane won’t even consider it then draft a speed threat WR in Round 1 or 2. THAT would be enough, but it’ll never happen.

it remains to be seen what actually happens with Diggs. I would prefer to keep him, but I highly doubt he actually wants to be here. We’ll see over the next 4 weeks what the plan is with him ”where there’s smoke there’s fire” if you’re telling me other teams are salivating about adding him and they still consider him elite…. then I should be able to acquire a 1st for him (even if I need to toss in a few picks) then I am doing that. He has simply NOT made nearly enough of a difference in the playoffs. I really like the idea of 2 WR & 2 DT in the first 4 rounds. Especially if Sweat is one of the DT’s. DeWayne Carter from Duke would be nice to snag in the 3rd or 4th Oliver DaQuan (hopefully re-signed!) Sweat ________ another rookie Ankou could even be an upgrade from the position last year. Phillips, Settle and Ford didn’t offer a lot over the course of the season IMO

this would be amazing. Nabers and Worthy would supercharge our offense. Oh baby!!!! Though this would be virtually impossible unless Diggs was traded with a couple of picks to get another 1st. Honestly considering the 9th pick is the Bears…they are so unpredictable. I could actually see them trading 9 to us for Diggs + 2 + 4 or something like that Diggs + 28 would certainly make them think about it. They’d have Moore & Diggs for Caleb Williams and could still get another WR at 28. The trade might not be worth it to us however

Uche is nasty. Would gladly take him. I’ll take DT Lawrence Guy too. They just released him. Immediate upgrade from what Settle and Ford brought at the very least.
