NFLPA Publishes Their List of Top Coordinators
BCAS Baritone replied to BCAS Baritone's topic in The Stadium Wall
The list is basically the rating given by the players that are under that coordinator on a score of 1 to 10. You don't rate other team's coordinators, only your own. If you hate your coordinator you give him a low score. Also, don't know how many players might have thought "my guy is #1 in my book" and chose the wrong answer. -
https://nflpa.com/posts/nfl-players-rank-top-team-coordinators They only show the top 5 among Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. No Bills among this list. Top 5 Defensive Coordinators Aaron Glenn - Detroit Lions Steve Wilks - San Francisco 49ers Dan Quinn - Dallas Cowboys Brian Flores - Minnesota Vikings Raheem Morris - Los Angeles Rams Top 5 Offensive Coordinators Frank Smith - Miami Dolphins Thomas Brown - Carolina Panthers Brian Schottenheimer - Dallas Cowboys Brian Callahan - Cincinnati Bengals Kellen Moore - Los Angeles Chargers Top 5 Special Teams Coordinators John Fassel - Dallas Cowboys Chris Tabor - Carolina Panthers Matt Daniels - Minnesota Vikings Dave Fipp - Detroit Lions Darren Rizzi - New Orleans Saints *The survey was administered online by Artemis Strategy Group during the NFLPA visits between August 28 and November 16, 2023. All NFL players were given the opportunity to take the survey. 864 offensive players rated their offensive coordinator, 774 defensive players rated their defensive coordinator and 1,025 who play on special teams rated their special teams coordinator. With 53 players on the active roster for 32 teams, that would be a pool of 1,696 players. I don't know if players on IR or practice squads were included https://theathletic.com/5179191/2024/01/04/nflpa-player-survey-best-coordinators/

No they won't. Injuries only need to be reported it it is likely to affect his availability for the game. Diggs has not been Questionable for these games - he was certain to play. Literally every starter in the league has some kind of painful issue at this point of the season. I remember a few years ago that one of the Bills O-linemen had to have his wife feed him during the week because he couldn't lift his hand to his lips. He was not on the injury report and he did not miss any games.

Week 17 12/31/23 GAMEDAY Bills vs Patriots Pregame Thread
BCAS Baritone replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could be veteran rest for Linval. Obviously they must expect Jones to carry a heavy load today. -
I'm pretty sure Bill Bellichick is not thinking the same way. For one thing he wants the record for wins. For another thing if he's not the coach of the Pats next year, what does he care what position they are drafting from?

Playoff Lenny should be active rest of year...
BCAS Baritone replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
One point in favor of doing this would be that it gives Murray a week off before hitting the playoffs. Veteran guys like him could definitely appreciate a late bye week to get fresh for the playoffs. -
I think he has a rib injury. Any time he takes a hit he has to come off the field for a play or two. That's not like him.

Bills @ Chargers post game thread
BCAS Baritone replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
I started following the Bills in 1967. In 1968 they won only one game that year, over the NY Jets. At the end of that season, Joe Namath guaranteed a Super Bowl victory and delivered. -
Chargers continue to clean house: Goodbye, Sebastian Joseph-Day https://sports.yahoo.com/chargers-continue-clean-house-goodbye-192622074.html https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/sebastian-joseph-day-landing-spots-chargers-captain-starting-dt-let-go-with-one-year-remaining-on-contract/ He's second on the team in QB hits behind only Kahlil Mack. Also a team captain. Strange timing.

Huge shoutout to Buffalo fans from Matt Hasselbeck…
BCAS Baritone replied to Watching since 1964's topic in The Stadium Wall
OJ Simpson would make good use of the crown - running wide then cutting back to the middle of the field. The defenders were literally running down hill while trying to switch back to OJ. Most fields did have a crown, but the one at Rich Stadium was unusually large. The fact that the field is below ground level makes drainage even more challenging than it would be if at ground level. -
There's only so much you can change in one week - we saw the same thing when Brady took over for Dorsey. Our offense got a lot better, but the changes were subtle and took several games to fully take shape. But I definitely assume he won't be making so many idiotic fourth down decisions as Staley did. Still, they definitely do not have Justin Herbert, and a good chance they don't have Keenan Allen either, who has been all-world this year. I would think it would be even less of a home game than usual for the Chargers - how many actual Chargers fans would have held on to their tickets after the Thursday night debacle. Of course, past Bills teams have blown equally optimistic situations. But this is this Bills team, not those Bills teams, so you can't really transfer that onto this squad.

Improvement needed by Bills - Special teams
BCAS Baritone replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think you can do a fair catch once the ball hits the ground, and that kick was a squib. They just wanted to get the ball our far enough so they could kneel it out comfortably. It was the smart play. -
They're making a point of calling it so Patty and Reid don't feel like it was just targeting them.

Actually I can think of a few by Gabe Davis. I can think of 3 where he speared an absolute rocket that was out in front of him that he grabbed on a dead run. Then there was one at the 2 yard line in a comeback attempt with no room at all at the sideline. As someone above mentioned, it's more a consistency problem with Gabe. He also has some wow drops.

Breaking: Jets QB Zach Wilson being benched for Tim Boyle
BCAS Baritone replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
The last game is in Miami. But as for weather, it's actually good for the Bills. Flying down from the frozen tundra of Buffalo in January and getting off the plane to nice, warm weather - that will lift their spirits right away. And there are always a decent number of Bills fans at any Miami game, between the people that have moved to Florida permanently, the snow birds that are there for the winter, and the Bills fans that always make the trip. Only logical explanation is that he's an outstanding practice QB and is especially good at running the scout team. -
So I can recall several runs out of shotgun that lost yardage, the most memorable one being against the Patriots* at the goal line. Were all of those a different concept than Dart or Inside Zone? Or put another way, if they are not "successful" by your measure (and I think your measure makes a lot of sense), how many are barely unsuccessful as opposed to genuinely negative (like losing yardage)?

No hot water in showers after game NYG @ WAS…
BCAS Baritone replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just curious - does your wife have an account on this board? -
Have to be pleased with scoring 32 against the Jets - that's the most they have given up all year. Next best was Dallas scored 30 against them in week 2.

Week 11, NJ Jest v. Bills - Predict the Score

Bills 18-16 -
I think option routes can contribute to that, especially if all the receivers have an option route. Basically, you want to run to the empty part of the field. If everybody sees the same thing, that a certain part of the field is open, they all run to it. And they have a nice group hug when they all show up together.
-
It's kind of like Rex Ryan's defense. The players have a ton of options, and they have to all pick the right one (and the same right one) in a fraction of a second. Nobody can make that many decisions that quickly. That's why you see option routes where the QB expects the receiver to go deep and the receiver cuts it short. If everybody makes the same right decision every time, it's unstoppable. If any one player makes the wrong decision, or takes too long making the right decision, the play blows up and it's over.
-
Given that a big part of our problem is Josh Allen right now, I am wondering who had a bigger negative effect on Josh - the OC (Dorsey) or the QB Coach (Brady). I guess we will find out shortly.

I'm still surprised -

Surprised that the Bills didn't activate Fournette for this game.
