This is possible. They’ll give the young ones every chance to prove themselves in camp.

Morse may be the odd man out at the end of TC, if the new hires can step up. Gotta proactively start managing the cap. We’ll eat some salary this season and be better off next year.

A players perspective on the Bengals game
Snappysnackcakes replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall
Diggs had a multi-hour meltdown on the sideline during that game and this will continue to happen if they don’t hold each other accountable. Not one person on that sideline knew how to keep him from losing it. Diggs is the kind of personality who can destroy a sideline during a game and I’ll repeat it, nobody could talk him off that ledge. If the coaches are not doing their jobs to perfection, he’s gonna lose it. My point is that the coaches lost that game. It was poorly prepared for, poorly called, and many players knew it. Frazier lost his job, McDermott has one more chance and, if they don’t get it right THIS season, they’re gonna blow it up and start over. They will only have the QB with which to build the team around. Coach is not gonna have the same leeway as his HC mentor Andy Reid. You nailed it, my friend. -

So, after this game, our DC semi-retires. Then, our HC comes out and says that he wants to be the DC and that it will be more of an attacking style of defense. Frazier lost the last couple playoff games. Period. Nobody wants to talk about it, but that is what happened. Sure, the HC takes the ultimate blame. But our DEFENSIVE failures cost us our last two playoff games by being too damned soft; once in the last 13 seconds and one for almost an entire game. Leslie is a nice guy, but the blank stares on the sidelines do not exactly exude confidence in me. I mean, WE talk about it, but Taiwan ain’t exactly keepin it real by not specifically discussing this fact. Playing prevent defense in Q1 while already down multiple scores is just about stupid. He schitt the bed. Now, a player needs to speak the damn truth. “Man, we had some real bad situational defense calls in that game.” That’s what I want to read. -
Bills hosting/hosted David Edwards on visit

And I’m not concerned with “upside” after Edmunds. You can keep the 16 year-olds with their athletic freakishness. Give me some maulers and let’s roll. High IQ and energy guys like Bates and Brown (yes…I went there). If I want someone with me in a bar fight, I want Spencer Freakin Brown as my wingman. That kid ain’t afraid of contact whatsoever. Hell, I remember Jerry Crafts and those days were miserable. This tool was ridiculed for a whole bunch of stuff (not appropriate fodder for this site, look it up and include “Howard Stern” in your search efforts) and I recall a quote that he needed to cut out his favorite food to keep his weight down. His favorite food was “pizzas and chickens” -

And Ike Boettger is from Iowa. You nailed it. Played LT there. -
Bates’s future is at center with this team. If all goes as planned, he may be the surprise starter at the end of camp with a salary cap dump of Morse. $6mil dead cap and over $5mil savings. Will this definitely happen? No. But it surely could if folks step up. Take their financial lumps this year and help next year’s cap.

You can do a lot worse than Wisconsin offensive linemen. They’re a school that prides itself on making guys pro-capable when they leave. Always well-coached. -
Bills re-sign OT Quessenberry

Guys - you can do a whole helluva lot worse at swing tackle than Q. Hell, he can handle 4 of the 5 OLine spots. Be thankful that he’s being brought to camp and, if someone outplays him, he’ll garner a draft pick. -
Suitable Edmunds Replacements in the draft
Snappysnackcakes replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just want the MLB with the best INSTINCTS in this class. After watching TE for 5 years, a guy with lousy instincts, I’m ready to just see someone who can fill the right gaps. And not get looked off underneath. Please, God, make it happen. -
As each day passes, the odds increase that Singletary re-ups with us. He’s an Allen favorite and understands his role on this offense. His true value is around $3m/year, at most, as his talents and production are both easily replaceable. Don’t let Sportrac fool you, he’s a dime-a-dozen talent.
-
You nailed it. McGovern IS an upgrade over Saffold and having Boettger back helps immensely as it relates to depth. Brown had zero TC reps last season and Doyle provides a hopeful swing tackle for game days. Beane is doing a great job of eliminating glaring needs before the draft, so they can focus on BPA. Be very thankful that we have a more-than-capable front office. As it relates to WR, someone young will standout in camp and they’ll look to develop that talent. May be a draft pick, low-end roster filler currently signed, or a UDFA. The advent of high-flying college offenses makes it a lot easier to find bodies for this role that it did 30 years ago.

RocCity - are you from Olean? I remember being at the Olean Center Mall circa 1983?? and watching some badasses walk in with a cardboard remnant and rocking it out for about 10 mins. -
This is a good group of people here and I’m proud to call myself a member of this community.

This kid has had way too many people in his ear. Lorax claiming he’ll be a HOFer before 1 game played. Did it go to his head? I don’t think so. But he sure helped us lose a humiliating game to NE last year. No reason for his horrific play misdiagnoses. He’s the Ron Burgundy of MLB’s in that all you have to do is look him off and you’ve got a completion. Cannot stress enough that I’m glad he’s gone and we can finally stop talking about him. I only said I haven’t missed a game since 1991 but I’ve watched them for 40+ years. And living thousands of miles away, before Sunday Ticket, made watching every freakin game very difficult, but I did it. So, tell ME…which player, non-QB, has created more animosity and conversation than Tremaine? It’s been like this since DAY ONE.
-
I’ve not missed a game since 1991. Ask me some questions.
-
Thank GOD! The most polarizing player in Bills history. He’s not a leader - nobody can argue with this statement. I’ll never forget the Jags loss last year when he did not play. He sat at the end of the bench, not involved whatsoever. This was when I decided I was done with him and Gisele (poster) can remember this moment when I threw my hands up and said he was hopeless. Good riddance.

Ike Boettger is likely penciled as the LG for next season. As it stands today, assuming Morse is released, we’d have Dawkins/Boettger/Bates/draft pick/Brown. They’ve been developing Ike, Bates is the heir at C, and they’re gonna give Brown one more shot at RT. I think Beane is correct in his stance that Brown having missed camp and recovering from surgery stunted his development.
