  1. Happy New Year @scuba guy! Happy New Year everyone!!! May this be our best year... on and off the football field!!!
  2. Whatever the market will bear... he's made $136 million in his NFL career so maybe money won't be the biggest driver when he picks his next team. If the Bills don't re-sign him we get a compensatory pick. Congratulations on accumulating an impressive personal wealth! I think the offseason emphasis was big WRs who could block and win 50/50 balls... Coleman, Hollins, and Cooper. Thank you. Earlier in this topic were contentions that there was little to no difference between the before Amari and after Amari. There's actually a big difference. IMO we got him relatively cheap and can offset that cost with a compensatory pick if we lose him. In the meantime his value has "only" been 24 catches for 250 yards and 2 TDs but as the before/after above shows, it's probably been more than just his personal stats. His first catch as a Bill was a TD that seemed to get the team rolling against Tennessee. We would not have beaten Kansas City without him... his one-handed catch on 3rd and 6 led to the first TD of the game. His 25 yard "Willie Mays catch" led to our second TD of the game. He had 6 catches for 95 yards as the spearhead against the Rams in a 42 point effort. His 3 for 3 for 56 yards and the high-point TD catch against the Jets was the kind of quiet and measured contribution that I expect to see from him as long as he's a Bill. It's similar to the Von Miller situation... we'll be better able to value him after the smoke clears on this season but in the meantime there's no question the Bills are a better team with him. That's all that matters.
  3. How do I feel about the Bills defense going into the playoffs? Somewhere between justifiably concerned and cautiously optimistic. Yes, it's true that offenses emphasize ball security and that defenses practice takeaways but usually turnover ratio regresses to a mean average over a large sample size. The only saving grace for our defense this year has been the takeaways. In every other area they've been poor. And this is my reason for optimism, is that the Bills D is trending towards being the healthiest they've been all year... and that a lot of the younger players got meaningful experience. Other thoughts... like some have mentioned, I hope the D has a few tricks up their sleeve but with all of the injuries and young players, I'm not sure they're be able to install effective wrinkles in time for the playoffs. It's hard to pin hopes on some secret recipe. Realistically if we continue to win the turnover battle and return to health, our 3rd down defense could possibly improve enough that we can outscore our opponents in 4 straight playoff games.
  4. I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Kenny and his wife at a tailgate at State Farm Stadium (Phoenix) in 2012. What a gentleman and fun guy! I don't know but I'm pretty sheepish about the tailgate antics. The Bills fans definitely have a national reputation and it's not all good. The clownishness gets lots of play. For instance: That said, out here in Northern CA with the Niners having a down year and Josh being from the Central Valley, there are a lot of Bills converts. A couple of guys I work with wanted and received Buffalo Bills caps for Christmas.
  5. It's times like this I wish we'd have re-signed Tremaine...
  6. May I suggest... Gimbaled so you don't spill your beverage.
  7. It's possible that some here would actually be more elusive in a wheelbarrow because they pivot on one wheel, thus having an excellent turn radius. Not throwing shade... just saying...
  8. Though I have nothing to back this up with but my impressions, I agree with this. I'd even go so far as to say that it seems like Dawson Knox gets open running free in the secondary at a higher percentage than does Kincaid. It does make you wonder what's going on here. Was Kincaid overrated or does Brady not utilize him effectively?
  9. 1) You were willing to put yourself out there by predicting numbers 2) You held yourself accountable High marks to you, Hondo.
  10. Boy Josh really let himself go over the holidays. Now I'm really concerned that the celebrity has gone to his head and that he's lost a step.
  11. Correct. His 14 snaps and 22% of snaps were both the second lowest of the 12 games he's played this year. I expect a low snap count in the finale as well.
  12. We're somewhat parsing credit here and it's not an exact science. No one is arguing that Joe Brady hasn't done a good job. No one is arguing that Josh hasn't improved. To the bolded, I thought so too. I don't know exactly what's caused this regression (if you can call making miracle plays a regression). Maybe it has to do with the MVP thing? Maybe the vanilla game plans are causing him to dig deeper to keep drives alive? Not sure. To the bolded, I think that running the ball, even on plays where you're not "staying on schedule" still has an intangible benefit. It's like body punching in boxing... in that the benefit is not quantifiable. It's been said by others and I agree that you don't have to run effectively as long as you're forcing the defense to honor the run. And I would not consider a 2 yard run on 1st and 10 to be a negative play nor a 2 yard run on 2nd and 8. For this team and QB, those plays are not drive killers like they are for other teams. If the offense's adherence to the run causes the defense to tighten the box, then half the battle is already won. JMO.
  13. I don't disagree... when I have time I'm going to slap a price tag on him... it'll be interesting to see what he signs for.
  14. I hadn't put my finger on it until you mentioned it. Yes, the lack of flags especially DPIs and holdings is VERY refreshing.
  15. I think arguably the Giants did try to tank when they alienated the whole team by naming Tommy DeVito the starter in week 12 over Drew Lock. The tank went out the window somewhat when DeVito was twice injured. He missed time due to injuries, an arm and a concussion.
  16. Talk about 2 great tight ends... Kittle and LaPorta... wow.
  17. The interesting thing is that while the NFC has some really excellent teams (Philly, Minnesota, Green Bay, Detroit), all the truly great QBs are in the AFC.
  18. Bills by position group (alphabetically, + practice squad, not including specialists): Centers (2+1) CBs (5+2) DEs (4+2) DTs (6+1) FB (1+0) G (2+1) LBs (6+0) QBs (2+1) RBs (3+1) S (4+3) OTs (5+1) TEs (3+1) WRs (5+3) The following players would be candidates to be elevated: Will (Mc)Clapp, Frank Gore, Mike White, Zach Davidson, Casey Toohill, Shavers and/or Hamler, and possibly Kareem Jackson, Micah Hyde, or Lewis Cine. But keep in mind that teams are restricted to only 2 Practice Squad call ups each week. Because of these numbers don't be surprised to see O'Cyrus Torrence and David Edwards, Ty Johnson and Ray Davis, Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop, Quintin Morris, and our wide receivers playing until the 4th quarter.
  19. I see a few complaints about the lack of defense but I'm really enjoying the game. Yes, the defenses aren't great but this is really good offensive play and the intensity is very high. The Niners are not interested in laying down on national TV. It's quite the fight.
  20. Also, Mack Hollins needs 47 yards for 400 yards.
  21. I think it's some combination of steroids, testosterone, and nicotine. Campbell's gonna go through some serious withdrawal when he quits dipping. Someday soon he won't be able to "bite any kneecaps" because he won't have any teeth left. The oddest thing about their unis is that the official color is "Honolulu Blue." In what bizarre universe does the flagship of rustbelt cities have a tropical color? LaPorta is a great player.
  22. A picture is worth a journey of one thousand... you know what I mean.
  23. Quietly... the word is quietly. Any prediction for the future? Yeah his valuation is tricky. I think it's one of those deals where they tell him "you've earned the right to see what's out there for you" and hope that his emotional attachment to the team brings him to a number all sides can live with.
  24. I think that Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch do a good job and they have some good, young talent. But yes, many of their foundational players are pretty old and they have to replace a bunch of parts. Their season was basically a "voyage of the damned" with tons of bad injury luck.
