AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks very much, good Sir. -
Bumping this in case it was missed by someone who could help me by shedding some light on the Myrtle Beach situation. Interestingly they got about 6 inches of snow on Tuesday... the beach looks whiter than normal. 🙂 I guess it's somewhat appropriate that we'll be watching the Bills game in frigid environs. 😞

Thanks very much for posting this information... I find it pretty interesting. If you don't mind me asking, what is your source for this information? -
Fitz magic is legend of the game this week!

I remember the Bills pursuing him before he ultimately signed with the Niners. The Bills ended up signing Patrick DiMarco as a consolation prize. -

My last words on the defensive pass interference call on Tre White: I listened to Dean Blandino on Sirius yesterday (apparently he does a regular guest segment on one of the shows). He said that he thinks it should have been a non call. He also said (as I've said elsewhere) that the "pulling the ball carrier rule" should either be enforced or removed from the playbook. When I commented on this yesterday I said the NFL is setting itself up for another "Tuck Rule Controversy" if they don't do one of the two aforementioned actions. Article 1 Definition: Pass Interference: When the ball is in the air, eligible offensive and defensive receivers have the same right to the path of the ball and are subject to the same restrictions. Article 2 Prohibited Acts: b) Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball (is prohibited) Article 2 Prohibited Acts: e) Cutting off the path of an opponent by making contact with him, without playing the ball; Article 2 Prohibited Acts: g) Initiating contact with an opponent by shoving or pushing off, thus creating separation. No one argues the definition stating that offensive and defensive players have the same right to the ball. I believe some people here believe that White committed act (e) above. I disagree. To me they were co-equals and White could not ultimately play the ball because he was shoved down before the ball arrived (g). Particularly on the second camera angle you can see that White is clearly looking back for the ball. NFL Rulebook: https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/#section-5-pass-interference The very fact that Bills fans are arguing on both sides of this call says everything that needs to be said whether it was "clear cut." And heed the words of Dean Blandino, the former Director of Officiating for the NFL. That's all I've got... carry on. -
Thanks for the reply. If the bar patrons don't know the words to Bills Shout, I don't want anything to do with them. 🙃

As it turns out, I'll be in Myrtle Beach next weekend and saw where the local Bills Backers chapter meets at the OD Arcade and Lounge in the city of North Myrtle Beach. On the other hand I see there's an Anchor Bar in Myrtle Beach. Any suggestions or insights on where best to watch the AFC Championship game would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When was the podcast aired? Before or after the game?

LOL... and that would confirm what we already know about his priorities. -

Absolutely true. If Tre White was on the Bills and Coleman was Rashod Bateman, 99% of the people here would be screaming bloody murder about a bad DPI. Disagree totally. I saw White take a good angle and beat Coleman to the spot. He knew where Coleman was going before he got there. It's similar to block vs charge in basketball... who got there first? Once White had established lead position he has no obligation to relinquish it. As far as Coleman "finishing the play," it would have been nice to see him get so much as one finger on the ball considering it went through his catch radius... but he was more focused on his bad acting job than playing football in that moment. As @Simon pointed out the call against White was a 3rd and 5 from the Ravens 30... a 47 yard field goal attempt. The DPI resulted in a 1st down at the 12 on the what ended up being a TD drive for the Bills. Conversely the call against Dawkins was on a 2nd and 11 from the Baltimore 47... a down and distance more probable to a punt. Truth. As stated numerous times elsewhere I've supported the selection of Coleman but he's a very unfinished player who has flashed but needs to actually become consistent. -
Thanks for posting this. I was very impressed with Van Noy refusing to make excuses and go the sour grapes route. He comported himself as a man. Count me as not frustrated and it's not simply choosing a "glass half-full" perspective. Things I loved about the VICTORY: We won the time of possession We answered the Ravens opening TD drive with a TD drive of our own We scored TDs on 3 of our first 4 possessions On a frigid and slick day we played mistake-free football in contrast to our opponents Excepting the kneel down possession at the end we had 10 play and 11 play fourth quarter field goal drives to maintain the lead. Both possessions were run-heavy. Things I wished we did differently (3 plays): On the 3rd and goal from the 2 we should have called the tush push instead of the shotgun run by Josh On the 2 3rd down possessions where we punted there were first down runs of 1 and zero yards which helped stall the drives (though there was a Kincaid drop which killed one of the drives) I thought it was a great win and a strategic success. And I really don't care what they look like as much as some do. Super interesting fact. I too would like to see a physical domination of the Chiefs. Incidentally, who'd have thought that the Bills would beat the Ravens in a game where Josh never had to pull his cape out of the closet? Great win.

The question in my mind is if Diggs woke up today with the ability to travel back in time and remain with the team, whether he would do so.. -
Building on my earlier post, here is the breakdown of runs to passes on first downs only: 1st Possession: TD 2 runs/2 passes 2nd Possession: Punt 1 run/1 pass 3rd Possession: TD 2 runs/0 passes 4th Possession: TD 2 runs/2 passes 5th Possession: Punt 1 run/0 passes 6th Possession: Punt 1 run/1 pass 7th Possession: Field Goal 3 runs/1 pass 8th Possession: Field Goal 2 runs/3 passes All first downs: 14 runs/10 passes 1st drive: (1st quarter) TD: 9 runs/2 passes, ran on 8 straight plays. 2nd drive: (1st quarter) Punt: 1 run/2 passes 3rd drive: (2nd quarter) TD: 3 runs/1 passes, ran on consecutive plays 4th possession: (2nd quarter) TD: 7 runs/2 passes, twice ran on consecutive plays 5th possession: (3rd quarter): Punt: 1 run/2 passes, (3 and out) 6th possession: (3rd quarter): Punt: 1 run/5 passes 7th possession: (3rd-4th quarter): Field Goal: 5 runs/4 passes, twice ran on consecutive plays 8th possession: (4th quarter): Field Goal: 5 runs/4 passes, ran on 5 consecutive plays 9th possession: (4th quarter): End of Game: 1 run/kneel downs So not including the end of game possession the Bills had 8 possessions and scored on 5 of them. Ultimately there were 3 play calls which people are remembering and using as evidence that the Bills were too conservative: 5th possession (3rd quarter) Punt: the Bills ran on 1st down for 1 yard and threw incomplete on the next two downs before punting. 6th possession (3rd quarter) Punt: the Bills passed on all three downs on the first set of downs and ran on 1st down on the second set of downs for no gain, which stalled the drive. On the 7th possession (3rd-4th quarter) Field Goal: on 3rd and goal from the Baltimore 2, the Bills should have run a tush push but instead ran Josh from the shotgun, losing yardage. So ironically, on the Bills highly-criticized punt possessions in the 3rd quarter, the Bills actually passed more than they ran... BUT the drives stalled in part due to a 1 yard gain and no gain on first down runs. That word was chosen carefully because it doesn't mean outplayed... outshowed as in "eye candy" or "style points?" If I meant outplayed, I would have used the word outplayed.

So far, so good! Aside from his two turnovers Lamar was brilliant and out-showed Josh. Josh won because he is 100% willing to set his ego aside and play disciplined football. I have a feeling Lamar will reach that point next year. Three quarters was enough... this time. You overstate your case IMO. 1st drive: (1st quarter) TD: 9 runs/2 passes, ran on 8 straight plays. So ironically, on the Bills highly-criticized punt possession in the 3rd quarter, they actually passed more than they ran... BUT the drives stalled in part due to a 1 yard gain and no gain on first down runs. Three was enough at home against Baltimore.

The Bills Social Media Team is on Crack
Sierra Foothills replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've never done crack so I can't argue with the OP but I had the same thought. If we're trying to identify the underlying drug, "trippy" is one word that comes to mind. FWIW it looks to me like Josh and the players enjoy these... their participation strongly implies that and if it's alright with Josh... (cue my Dad saying"If your friends all jumped off a bridge...") I'm not cool, hip, relevant or whatever buzz word is synonymous these days but I agree. IMO the condition you describe isn't good for the mind or the soul. I think if you can't just laugh at these it's a shame. "Get off my lawn!" (so I can yell at the clouds in peace) I know the feeling. This is a good description but there's also a nonsensicalness mixed in. Most/much of the stuff in these is totally unexplainable. I think they're just trying to get a reaction more than they're trying to send a message. -
Keep in mind that this was supposed to be a rebuilding year and the Bills have a ton of picks in the upcoming draft. I''m also annoyed at the bizarre negativity around here lately. One thing I think I've noticed is that we have a lot of non-regular posters who show up during the playoffs to post.

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, it's been referred to as one of those "never called rules" which still exist. IMO such rules should either be enforced or removed from the Rules Book. Like the league really needs to queue up another "Tuck Rule" controversy to rear its ugly head at the worst possible moment. But as we all know, the NFL is more focused on making money than it is improving the game. -
You're the guy who just realized today that the Bills go to the Super Bowl if they beat the Chiefs on Sunday. Am I right?

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Many here don't abide by the directive: "do not feed the trolls." The result is the corrupted thread that we are now enduring instead of enjoying. We live in a world where people are more interested in hearing their own voice instead of the voices of others... and it's very important for too many, to have the last word. -
AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just as the Bills had the Greg(g), we also have the Clap(p). The Bills have no fewer than 25 coaches on staff as well as assistants and paid interns. You would definitely hope that the team has reached out to the league for final clarification on Dawkins' "Ice Pick" move. (Spencer Brown has adopted the move too) If I were the Bills I would ask the NFL for a definitive statement and certainly not just leave it to chance. On the plus side, for the second week in a row a Bills O-lineman has gotten away with pulling the ball carrier without being called for a penalty... it is legal to push the ball carrier. -
Very outstanding of you to offer an unneeded mea culpa. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't see it. Have a link? Disclaimer: From the beginning I've been a supporter of the Keon Coleman draft selection. That said, this is as good a time as any to mention how disappointed I was on that DPI call on Tre White which was actually a blatant OPI on Coleman. Wideouts who really are masters of their craft can get away with it subtly, unlike Coleman's uncalled foul. And then to make it worse, the ball went right through the middle of his catch radius without him even getting close to catching it. Coleman has the physical tools to become an elite contested ball receiver but a lot of that is concentration and mental, not physical. He has a ton of polishing to do. That theory doesn't really hold water. The Bills won yesterday but really squeaked by in too-close-for-comfort fashion. Any contribution from Cooper would have been valuable and right on schedule but the train never came in. Good job. I'm surprised it took until the 3rd page before this was mentioned.

Christian Benford in concussion protocol
Sierra Foothills replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think anyone can state when the injury happened with any certainty. By the testimony of two other posters in this short topic, Benford didn't look like himself on the 2 point conversion attempt. I sure hope he suits up for KC... he's by far our best cover man and a good run defender as well.
